When promoting yourself do you ever use dating websites?
I was thinking of doing this but first I want to know if it's a good idea or bad.

Please, please answer, I never get replies :(

Thanks!

Do you mean stuff like OK Cupid or things like SeekingArrangement?

If the former, in what way would you use it? I just don't see much of an avenue there for promotion that would not get you banned and/or flooded with a bunch of nonsense that would not lead to monetary gain.

I have, however, made use of websites like Reddit to expand my audience. You might consider posting to various sub-reddits there to expand your visibility.

As a customer this would be confusing. Dating sites are designed for real people to meet each other. Camsites are a form of entertainment that uses anonymity and fantasy for entertainment.

You don't go looking for dates on camsite just the same as you don't pretend to be someone you're not on a dating site.

Thank you, girl! I gotta learn how to use that darn reddit site!

Some Streamate affiliates do that. You know what happens? We end up with guys in our chat rooms who think they can meet/fuck/date us, and they get really pissy when they find out that's not true.

I wouldn't use a dating site to advertise, even with blatant disclaimers everywhere, because dudes on those sites just don't read profiles. They assume that if you're on a dating site, you're there to date just like they are - and why wouldn't you be? That's the point of the site. Trying to advertise to them would be WAY more headache and energy than it's worth.

That is some great advice and wise words!

You could try fetish sites, like Fetlife, to increase your visibility. It is sort of a date site, but it also allows for advertisement of various services. I've gotten various customers from it in the past.

Well that's certainly good to know! You mean online custies or in person?

Yeah. . . You'd think people would know the difference.

As for Seeking Arrangement (which Jezebel mentioned), you could advertise on there with your cam identity, but it's for sugaring which means in-person meet ups.

If it is a FWB/NSA site that has some type of currency such as tips, points, and etc. that can be redeemed for cash. I would say do it.
However, I wouldn't solicit myself as a cam model. You can say you are an exhibitionist and encourage guys to give you what ever currency the site uses.
I met one of my best customers this way and got paid. You just have to be careful and read the site's terms of service carefully.

It depends on what you are advertising for? If you are a sugar baby or GFE-type of cam model, then it is better to advertise on sugar baby sites such as millionaire match and luxy. You can also advertise yourself on Tinder as sugar baby seeking online arrangements only. You will get a few good POT clients. You can get a few guys like that. If you are a cam domme, then you can advertise on places Fetster and Tinder. Fetlife and collarspace just suck when it comes to getting great cam and phone subs. However, if you are just a regular cam model then you should stay off the dating sites as that pisses off both cam models and customers. :)

Tinder focuses on location, doesn't it? So you'd be advertising to your neighbours and local pals? I've never used it so could be wrong but that seems like a bad idea (on top of the fact that I personally find it sketchy/in poor taste to advertise paid services on dating sites/apps).

Actually, many ladies in the sugar bowl and domination circles use Tinder. In fact, sugar babies have been finding sugar daddies on Tinder since it's beginning. It is just not a well-known fact in the camming industry but pretty well-used in the sugar babies and domination circles that I am apart of. Personally, I never used OKcupid and Match because pay for play guys are not on there. But Tinder is often used in this business but you must weed through to the pay for play guys. I assure you there are a lot of business men on Tinder looking for sugar babies, dommes, and many online services. Now, cam models can use if they are either sugar babies or GFE types. :)

Definitely not for me. Tinder is for personal use, not business. Plus there's a million and one bots on there already. It also seems a little predatory on sites like okcupid and match where they're looking for an emotional connection with a real person.

GenXoxo,
I can not make moral judgements if it is wrong to advertise on dating sites and apps. I only advertised on sugar baby or rich guy dating sites. I know many sugar babies including myself who had advertised on dating sites such as Tinder or Established men. It is just not a big deal in sugar or domination circles. In addition, I never saw any of my friends (majority of them are sex workers) on Tinder and everyone knows that I had worked Tinder for money purposes only. I never used eharmony and other stuff like that.:cat:

I dont recommend using dating sites for promotion because it would be very time consuming with a poor risk/reward ratio. People who sign up for a dating site are either looking for a date or for free sexual contact.

It is even a poor idea to state that you are a camgirl if you are using it to date people because then nobody takes you seriously and all you get are super sexual messages regardless of what the rest of your profile looks like. Men will be men.

All that time wasted in promotion is better spent live on cam. Thats the best way to promote yourself. The people already there on the camsite are there to spend and will be more likely to find your room and spend on you if you are actually streaming. Plus you earn money while at it. Everything else is a waste of time and energy in my personal opinion. Even social media.

You definitely have to be careful on how you go about it. Since I do not cam full-time it works out well for on the site that I use, but the site I use has it's own form of currency that can be redeemed for cash. I personally wouldn't use a regular dating site, but if it a site where it is "understood" what everyone is there for I don't see the harm as long as you operate within the TOS.
