I think it has more to do with the relationship dynamics then gender.

I can't speak for any one else. But for me, if I were to purpose to some one. I would first want to be financially secure. Confident that I had the funds to support me, and that other person.

Same thing if some one purposed to me. I would want to know that together we are financially secure.

It's a blog, in a wedding website, which is eventually designed to make conversions. I wouldn't see any Simone De Beauvoir extra value in it.

I'd rather have a boring wedding, and an interesting marriage.

But so is dialogue! Speak up, speak out and don't tell women that they're lame for proposing. Because that makes you even lamer.
