So I have a bunch of videos that I want to cut up and eventually make into a compilation but I've run into an issue. Because of storage space and the fact that I usually record audio separately I figured it would be ideal to export the segments from each video in ProRes which I could easily use later on. However it seems I can't export to ProRes in Resolve, which I assumed I could since I've been doing it with Premiere. Does anyone know of a good alternative that will give similar results?

Oy... I use Davinci but never import audio separately. I feel like it shouldn't be too hard to import, but maybe hard to align.

Sorry wish I could be of more help.

Why do you usually record audio separately? Doesn't that cause more work in the end?

It's not too hard to sync the audio, I just do a couple of claps at the beginning of a video and I can line them up looking at the audio spikes. I record audio separately because it's the only method I've found that gives me clean audio, I can't really filter out background noise without filtering out the sounds I do want to keep in my videos with the mic on my camera. It also helps for times when I have my camera far away from me.

I've seen people use ProRes for like 4k raw on expensive camcorder.
Have you tried some thing like x264 with CRF 15?

Havent tapped into Resolve for a bit but i do remember Cineform being a very good alternative to Prores. Used it back in the day when i was working on a windows. Not sure if Resolve supports it

You don't really have settings like that in Resolve. Best I can do is crank up the bitrate and see how the videos hold up after re-encoding.

Cineform for whatever reason results in my videos coming out with increased contrast
