The last AC thread was about a specific game so I thought I would make this one more generic. I'm posting this because I bought Assassin's Creed 3 yesterday and have been playing it. Didn't get a lot of time to play after work so I'm still working my way through Sequence 3 which means I have a LONG way to go but that's good!

So far, I'm enjoying myself thoroughly. I'll get a better idea of how it compares to the previous games when I get a bit further along and unlock more freedom. Right now the game is mostly on rails. The visuals are pretty amazing though and I'm getting sucked into the story rapidly.

I preordered it from Amazon a while back, to get a steelbook case, but they haven't shipped it yet.
I think it might have been delayed by Hurricane Sandy, but I'm not sure.

Ahh wow I love when you forget about a game that you've been waiting for then suddenly it's out :D I've been playing dark souls and dishonored

I was hoping since I live in a void of video game enthusiasm that I could walk into Best Buy and just pick up some special edition release. I've done it with some other games, but it didn't happen this time. I decided the normal release would be good enough. It's killing me to know I have 4 more hours at work before I can go home and play some more... though I also have to make dinner first. Probably only going to get about 2 hours in before bed tonight. :(

ahh it doesn't come out for another 3 weeks for pc, typical ubisoft, treat us like crap then turn around and call us all pirates :P

I played the first game on the PC and hated the controls. They never grew on me very well. MUCH prefer it on PS3.

That was my problem with also, the controls on the PC were really awkward. I don't have PS3 and really no interest in getting one. Also I more of an RPG fan and really like games like Skyrim or Fallout, rather than an action game like Assassin Creed. I'm curious how well 2 will do, but I am waiting to buy it on a Steam sale.

AC2 has been featured in at least one Steam sale. It wasn't super cheap after discount but I think it was somewhere between 30-50% off the already reduced price.

I'm almost done with Sequence 5 and the rails are pretty much gone now... and the end of Sequence 3 makes it extremely obvious not just from a "get introduced to the game" but also from a story point of view as to why the rails at first. When you get the "How D'ya Like Them Apples" achievement, you'll understand. There are a few bonus objectives I failed to complete for full synchronization so I'll probably be going back and replaying those missions a little later... life if I need a break from a mission I've tried a few times and failed repeatedly. :P

I've played them all on PC so far, never had any issues though I usually customise controls of any games how I like them

Six more hours, six more achievements, and ready for some more tomorrow. I've almost completed all the optional stuff in Boston just for shiggles. It's pretty darn good so far. I'm over twelve hours of play time into it so far but I've done enough optional stuff that I don't see myself finishing the game at the twenty hour mark which is what they estimated the story would take to get through.

It sounded pretty good so I was wondering if it was authentic. Figured Ubisoft was the kind of company so obsessed with immersion that they probably did bring in people to get it right. I've been near the end of the story for a while now but have put a lot of time into side missions. I enjoy walking around the homestead admiring all the mementos, inventions, and even the weapons on the racks that I've earned, bought, and crafted. Sadly a part of the end has been spoiled for me because some people are assholes. :(
