I'm thinking of expanding my therapy & life-coaching practice by offering my skype / facetime services to the cam model community. I'm wondering what the members of this forum think about the idea. Is there an unfilled need? Can I effectively reach out to the community via advertising without being offensive?

I'm a real deal professional psychotherapist and life-coach. I've provided in-office services for more than ten years, and most of my clients have come in via referral from former clients. Because I have a sex-positive and accepting attitude, my name has gotten around my community among male and female professional dancers. Many of were originally reluctant to go to a therapist or coach because of previous bad experiences with professionals who had prejudices or preconceptions about adult performers (eg: abuse, exploitation, sexuality, etc.)

I've offered distance services to clients who were on vacation or away on business, and I'm comfortable with the technology. I've just never tried to solicit business from adult performers. I've thought about sending around an introduction email, but I don't want to get a reputation as a spammer or scammer.

I'm really interested in your opinions. Please help me out here.

Amber, how much for a banner ad on your site?

Since I know many of us might feel uncomfortable saying "Yes there's a need", I propose this:

Are you okay with us replying via PM on here? Many would feel most comfortable.

As to is there a need: I think there is. Just me alone, I could use a therapist who would be okay with alternative lifestyles and an adult entertainer.

It sounds like a great idea to me :thumbleft:

Not sure how to answer your questions or how others will react really. Tread carefully of course, us cam models often have people come into our chat rooms trying to "save us" so we can be pretty fast to get defensive about it.

Thanks. The attitude you described: people wanting to 'save' cam models from their life of ... fill in the blank ... is a common obstacle that dancers face in coming out about their work in therapy. It's odd that nobody tries to 'save' women from working in a factory or a fast food joint.

Thanks Luna. I wasn't actually asking for business from the members of this forum. But you can always PM me here, and I'll send links to my email and websites.

Are you both an analyst and a therapist, Tobias?

I love that show and can not wait for the new season or movie.

Hey there,
that is an interesting question. Sounds like a great service to offer, I would love to know more.

I am a cam model (just started) but counselor by day.
I am just wondering if there would be any ethical considerations on your part, if you happen to view the girls online (MFC or whatever) and counsel them...
Not sure if you would be doing this, but if so, wouldn't that kinda be a dual relationship?

I would just be careful. I think it leaves you open to some vulnerabilities as a counselor...

But if it works well, then kudos.

honestly surprised to see this, but it makes sense. Being a life coach also, I guess I just like getting a feel for the person when I go to meet them out in public as compared to only doing it through webcam. Not saying I haven't done that a few times, I think it's just harder for me meeting cam to cam...Guess I'm old school lol

anyhow, good luck on this!
