Hi everyone :hello2:

I have been lurking these forums for a good while now as I have been researching the world of camming before I make my debut shortly. It's been a fantastic read so thanks to all contributors, I hope to get to know you if my venture into this crazy fun line of work pays off. I am just waiting for a new driving license to come through and then I will sign up with MFC.

I have been thinking of names for a while and thought I had settled on one: Midnight Sonata, but now I changed my mind again as it just doesn't sound right. I was reading another thread where a girl was asking for help and her name wasn't that memorable and the resounding and common- sense advise was to have it reflect you; as it is a marketing tool and will be your brand.
Anyway I think this has made me become a bit obsessed over my name now. As I now have a two blinking page spreadsheet of possible handles!
I know you can change it at anytime but just wanted to ask if the other girls had this indecisiveness or if you just knew when the name fit.
Also members, do the names even matter that much to whose room you will pop into?
I know ultimately that it is your personality and the manner in which you conduct yourself, but I have slight OCD so I am struggling :violin:
I could list a few contending names if anyone wants to give an opinion.
Cheers everyone! Xx

I personally really like "real" sounding names. It just gives off that down to earth vibe. But that's not to say you can't incorporate things that spark your interest into them. For example, say you're a cat lover. You could name yourself, "Katherine Kitty."
I love helping out with names, so if you want help with some ideas, you should post your passions/interests/hobbies.
And I posted an article not too long ago in the MO section about how people with easier spelling names are more approachable. I'd take that into consideration when choosing.

When I was camming before, I was MissRedRoxy, it fit well with my hair and Roxy was a foxy name. But honestly, I'm not sure. I'm kind of artistic. I wasn't sure if having a name that hinted to me being pregnant would help business or not.

Thanks Megan. I haven't got model status just yet, but when I have I will check out your post.
I try to think of an interest and character trait then think of a nice sounding synonym to pair with a real name. E.g Sweet Sue, Starry Rose.
I toyed with going the comedy route to draw out the comedy fans from the crowd: Bunny Boiler, PaulSheldon'sNo1Fan, HyacinthBucket, but then realised they were not very funny and that it would get old very quick. On my fruitless journey into comedy names, I found to my surprise that 'Come on Eileen' had not been snapped up. There's one for the wilder ones if you like :)
My interests are reading horror/thriller, music, astronomy and guitar. I'm also a big Radiohead fan so thought of 'Paranoid Android' but it's not very sexy though is it?

Bah need to have a herbal tea and lie down I am over-thinking this too much now.

Melody is this girl I've always imagined in my head who is super hot, dresses better than I do because she has more money, has long red hair and bangs. Voila! Although some people may not imagine separate people into that much detail. I thought about Melody Stone, Melody Fox and then Melody Faye. I actually prefer the first two but here I am and I don't regret it. So I guess don't worry that you will choose something and then think of something better. I've thought of something better and was annoyed for a minute but then got over it. Your name will take on an identity of it's own which will make it kind of impossible to regret.. that's been my experience at least.

I prefer realish names for whatever reason. Just make sure it's spelled correctly and google it first :)

Okay. So I'm not a cam girl. However I am a sex worker. The name I chose when I first developed an internet persona was Rose. Just that. Then when making profiles on different sites I came to realize Rose was too short. So my name morphed into what it is currently: Rose Phoenix. Roses are my favorite flower. And my favorite mythological creature is a Phoenix. So there we have it. However I did not google my name before choosing it....bad plan. So many things called Rose Phoenix or variations of it. So I've contemplated adding to my name. But nothing sounds right...so yeah definitely google your name first.

I was thinking something different. An actual name, though I don't know if I should add pregnant, or bump, or anything to it.

That would grab people's attention. You can easily change your MFC name if you want to continue after you have your child so if you are only working there go for it! Other sites give you more of a hassle and make you create a whole new account if you want to change your name.

Missbump, you could always just add "Preggo" or something in front of the name you choose-- MFC will allow you to change your username later, as long as the one you want isn't taken already! For instance, if you like the name Paula, you could be "PreggoPaula" for now and one you have the baby, if you choose to continue camming, you could change the name to "Paula", or "PrettyPaula", or even "PaulaPopped" if you want to be a little funny! (These are just examples of course! :) ) Just make sure you alert your fans before a name change, but if they put you on their friends list you'll stay on there even if your username is different.

RosePhoenix, that is really good advice to Google your name before choosing one! I chose a name from Harry Potter (Lily Evans is Harry's mom's maiden name) so when you good that a lot of Harry Potter stuff comes up-- which I actually prefer! It makes it harder to find me, which is something that I want. If you WANT to be found easily through search, try many different variations and see what you can come up with that is unique!

As far as other names go, I think most camsite members prefer "real" sounding names but I suppose it depends on the site you're camming on and the vibe you want. If you're a wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am kind of girl, a name like MilfTits69 would probably work for you. If you'd prefer to be silly and sit and talk and dance it'll be hard for members to connect with you with a name like that. Just a thought to keep in mind!

I'm actually rather happy that it turned out that I am difficult to find with a google search. However, I also watermark my content with my personal urls. So if you search those then it's rather easy to find me. Which I definitely prefer. But yeah google your name if you want to be found easily. See what comes up. If you want to be kind of hidden then choose a more common name. It all boils down to how you want things to work.

I'd like to add that members(/regulars) may want to call you something other than your full username. If they address you, it's far more 'personal' to direct to you as "hey Megan, Lily, Kaylee, Amber, Melody, kicka, etc. etc" then an non-name username like Theultimategirl (hey, ultimate) or HotGirl69 or Bootylicious (hey... booty)
Doesn't have to be a first name to work, just something members can shorten.

it's like making a cool club out of your inner circle/regulars, "my friends call me Fay" ;)

I started with FoxxxyGween (the usual xxx for porn stuff) and then i changed to just "Gween" because i couldnt stand the "What does the fox say?" jokes and my viewers and earnings changed a lot!

Not having a cheesy porn name as my stage name and my cam style being silly changed a lot. Being foxxxygween i got all the cheap pervs "hey bb wanna cum" but with Gween things changed and i was more like a person than a sex bot. After that i added GweenBlack, which is a harry potter fanfic character i was in love with! She was Sirius Black cousin and a sexy model that made all the guys in hogwarts go crazy!

Try this name out for size: Toodles McFuckbuckets. It's gold! Gold I tells ya, GOLD!

When I first started camming I was RubyBooty31 lol cue the cheesy laughter please!

Later on opted for RubyDimples

How did I come up with this?

Through the eyes of Ruby is one of my favorite smashing pumpkins song

Dimples was a nickname my grandmother gave me and somehow felt right to do after her passing.... :-D

I really enjoy playing with names. As a member, I notice clever names.

Also, names that bring to mind things that I'm not into will tend to cause me to assume that model is not right for me. It wouldn't surprise me if that was true of other members too, although it probably also works the other way. Guys really into feet might make a beeline for "Footlady," while guys who are annoyed by members begging to see feet might avoid the room. The point of all that is I think if you have a name that implies a specialty or fetish, you'll probably attract a lot of members who like that particular thing and not very many who aren't into it. Therefore, I would guess that if you want to be known as someone who specializes in something, it's good to have it in your name, and if you want to cast a wider net for potential members, you'd be better off with a name that just sounds generally attractive or fun.

Like Harmless Squirrel said, if you put an interest in your name (like DubstepDiana) the people who like Dubstep will flock to your room. However, the ones who don't, probably wouldn't even give you a chance. A good rule of thumb is to just try out a cute name like "DianaDarling" and see what kind of feedback you get. If your members only come in to laugh about your name, but never stick around, you might want to change it.

I'm a music nerd so I always dig names that reference famous (or not famous) songs...

Layla
Elise
Roxanne
Billie Jean
Gloria
Peggy Sue
Darling Nikki
Penny Lane

I'm also a fan of bad puns and naff wordplay...

Foxx_E._Lady
RaMoaner_Flowers

But really, you're probably best with something that's at least semi-serious and contains something that could be someone's name (maybe avoid things like TitFlopper4U, Cuntosaurus_Sex) :twocents-02cents:

Picking a model name should tell me something about you or your room. That is usually what gets me to go into a models room. Like the other day I walked into a models room because her name grabbed me at GR8WhiteTits. I was so curious at that point, I realized she was celebrating shark week and that is why she changed her name to that. And I'm glad I did, because she was one funny gal. If your shy, outgoing, awkward, love music, love sharks, etc. Try to make a name that describes you. I think that is what will grab a members curiosity. If they're into the same thing you are, they will typically stay around for awhile to see what your like.

Okay, apparently Toodles didn't get any love. Hmmm, let's go the Irish route and pick Tits O'Flannigan.

I can't believe nobody takes me serious; y'all know some PR firms charge big $'s for the great shit I advise, right???

I agree with Melody. Perhaps go with a name that has a name you like in it such as Miss(place name here)Bump, then after your baby is born you can have an easy time going to a new name rather than everyone having no idea what happened to you for 6mths like it normally goes (I've changed my names a few times).

I actually just changed my name yesterday. I had my name as Ann_Solo, but decided I didn't want everyone to think I was only into Star Wars. I changed my name to Ann_Sulu. I don't know if it'll stay, but it made me smile after a rough day when I thought of it. After I saw the pic below when I typed in Han Sulu I couldn't resist after laughing way more than I probably should have. I think I'm sticking with Ann at this point. It's short and easy to remember. If I ever change it it'll probably be like the Sulu from Solo thing where it's just a new last name. ^.~

I like it, but obviously I'm not the one to ask if it's too cheesy. XD

BumpnMolly? Too cheesy?

The first thing that popped into my head (and I've never done any sort of drug, mind): It sounds like you're pregnant and snorting molly. Maybe I've just watched too many crime dramas, but that was the first impression.

Maybe try putting your name first, so guys don't try to call you 'Bump' as well as the bad reference? Maybe Molly_Babe, Molly_Baby, Molly_Cute, Molly_Peanut, etc. And then put 'Pregnant' in your model tags/room topic when you're online. That way when the baby's born, you don't even have to worry about changing your username to something less pregnant-sounding? :)

Yeah, hadn't thought of that...Plus, Gemma's right the name is best in front. Imagine you change your name, and viewers that neither put out notifications on you, or put you on their friend's list are looking for you. If you change your name and they type bump first you won't come up, but if you have Molly first on both you'll come up in the list much easier.

That's a lovely name and gesture Ruby.

I agree about a real sounding name being easier for the members to refer to you and relate. Having a name that dehumanises you or is a bit degrading will hardly draw the polite punters in so will definitely be avoiding those. I'm planning on being non- nude as well so if I chose something like VagOnAPlate It would be a marketing fail and get me done for false advertisement ;)

It's an interesting point about the Google search results thing too, I always wonder if Ginny Potter gets discovered by Harry Potter fans often, or like has been said if it deters this likelihood because there is already more information on established names. I wouldn't want to be too easily found, not when I'm new and still figuring stuff out. I like the names Beth and Eileen (very simple, British names) so will probably go for a variation of those.
PaulaPopped is ace, that should get you some visitors Miss Bump when the time comes
