I made a post on Twitter and Tumblr recently, saying how much I wish fat models didn't have to wear makeup and do up their appearance to earn the bare minimum of respect. If we wear our hair in a messy bun, no makeup, we're seen as lazy etc etc. 300+ people have agreed so far and it's heartbreaking. Even those that said they can get by without it (and generally have full eyelashes, nice brows, clear skin, etc), have agreed that it's hard on other fat models.

I'd be able to get on cam/film daily if I didn't have to spend 1-3 hours on my makeup & hair. I just don't have the energy (yay chronic illnesses) to do all that and then spend the other 3 hours I have left home alone, trying to film.

I wish to HELL I could pull off a no makeup look but if I don't at least have eyebrows, winged liner, mascara, eyeshadow on, I look dead. I have sensitive skin so redness/uneven tone doesn't help, but I can't wear many face products because my face loves to sweat and produce so much oil I'm constantly scared the US is gonna invade NZ just to mine my face. Parts of my face also refuse to accept foundation/concealer and just look terrible.

Maybe I should not say this but you make a living doing this? Or at least something that helps? I think if you can do this in any manner someone finds you beautiful. I don't want to sound to sappy but beauty isn't only skin deep. Maybe money clouds that concept a little bit. I'm not sure if that helps or even makes sense but no person should feel like a job is their only asset. Although I have had those thoughts sometimes too.

BTW, if a girl on cam is touching up her makeup, don't tell her she doesn't need it. I don't know about others, but I want to punch everyone in the dick who tells me that. And not in a fun CBT way.

The most amusing thing to me is when my lipstick wears off because I've been drinking water, and someone tells me I'm "fine without makeup" or "don't need the makeup" when I'm fixing the lipstick, as if that's the only thing that's on my face. My dude, I'm sitting here in foundation, powder, blush, highlight, contour, eyeliner, mascara, and 3-4 shades of eyeshadow, the fuck you mean I "don't need the makeup"? I'm wearing half an Ulta display on my face, it would look weird as shit with no lipstick! My skin is not naturally this even, flawless, and dewey, under the paint I'm an acne-scarred, hormonal acne-having, dry, flakey, red disaster. If you think my eyelids are naturally purple/green/gold, but complain about me putting lipstick on, oh honey I have news for you.

Like, my avatar here, it looks like I'm just wearing a red lip with nothing on my skin, and you can't really tell if there's anything on my eyes because of my glasses, but that was a makeup look that took about an hour and a half to do.

The other day all I did was wear neutral lipstick and less crazy eyeliner , and everyone was like WOW BB U LOOK SO DIFFERENT wow bb you don't need makeup. Like excuse me? I'm still covered in makeup, and sitting in studio lighting. But if I wear red lipstick I make literally no money, which is crazy- but I think I have more of the "girl next door" vybe , and whenever I try to look more made up or diva, guys don't like it. So I basically have my cam makeup and my going out personal makeup, and never the two shall mix hahaha

I would NEVER cam without make up at all, purely because that's just not part of my job as a performer.
But how much makeup I put on depends on how lazy I am that day, how late I am lol and what kind of work I am doing.
For my femdom video making I tend to go more full on, any picture sets will be full on too.
Camming is lazy depending.

My very minimal make up is foundation, eyebrows and mascara.

Not many member optinions. I'll try one.

No actually I won't, I realised while trying to compose an answer that my thoughts are completely confused and irrational around makeup and depend a lot on how I mentally view the girl at that time (lover, friend, unobtainable godess, shy cute girl to be chased, etc.). Complex and I actually can't work out an answer :D

One tip though, I totally love watching a woman put makeup on (and fix hair) and I guess I'm far from the only one.

Same... The best monetary night I ever had was a no makeup, bummy outfit kind of day that I just so happened to turn the camera on for.

My highest-earning nights, I've been wearing a hoodie and sweats, or a long-sleeve workout top with a half-zip. It's not even a lot of cleavage, compared to some of the other things I wear. Subs want to earn the right to see my body, and I certainly don't mind making them.

I think they like to see the girl behind the model, real me - resting bitch face, no makeup, panties and tshirt ...or something.

For a job that’s based heavily on appearance, its smart to care what others think of your appearance.

Some girls do better with a full face, some with a light face, generally speaking I’d say being consistent with one or the other is usually smart. For example, Austin white (does she still cam?) always had beautiful vintage looking lingerie complete with immaculate hair and makeup. An occasional no makeup, lounging in Jammie’s show might be a good treat for her fans, but they generally expected that she’d be on in her full outfits and so if you never knew whether she’d be a dolled up vixen or a girl next door, it’s harder to build a persona and a fan base.

I wouldn’t cam without makeup because I look washed out and tired. I generally have a fairly light makeup look (no false eyelashes or whatever), but also keep in mind that light makeup gives a “no makeup” look on cam. What feels like heavy makeup to me translates to a fairly standard look on cam.

Austin White does indeed still cam. Beautiful woman, and I like how she does a vintage look. She's done little/no makup days. Same with different hair styles, wigs, etc. I don't visit her room often. But, one time I did, and she was just lounging in bed without being dolled up. I tipped a question to her on her hair, and she responded to hit. Great gal, IMO.

As to looks, I agree that a model should do what makes them most comfortable. I personally prefer a no to little makeup look since I think too much can make someone look clownish (or Tammy Faye Baker for those who are old enough to remember her). But, I also think that certain colours of makeup and hair don't go well with facial features, skin tones, etc. Same with hair styles. Guess all that comes from having been married to a cosmetologist for a while.

So I read this earlier and thought to myself, nope, no way I'd ever go on cam without ANY makeup. My face is very red and uneven toned, foundation is my best friend. And I wouldn't normally dream of going on cam without drawing on my eyebrows because my natural eyebrows are blonde and straggly and end halfway lol. I have to draw on the nice pointed end parts.
And funny enough, I was about to broadcast on a new site for my first time ever tonight and realized at some point during a weekend of partying that I lost my makeup. My whole entire bag of makeup. I looked everywhere, my car, my house etc. Well I wasn't about to let that keep me from camming, I am broke so I decided to just go natural and do it. Wore a sports bra and cute shorts and I got a long private right away! I am both surprised and glad that I am still appealing to people with 0 makeup:)

I can only speak for myself, but I've struggled with debilitating depression, crippled motivation, chronic pain, low self-esteem, and poor body image my whole life. Keeping to regular, stable routines helps manage some of that mess. It doesn't completely negate the problems, but every little bit helps. Eating regularly, staying hydrated, and exercising help keep my sufferpuppet body in working order. Taking care of my skin helps to keep it nice so makeup goes on better--and once the makeup is on, I feel more ready for whatever it is I'm going to be doing that day. And once the makeup is on, I may as well put on actual clothes instead of PJs or just living in a bathrobe the whole day. Even if I'm focusing on PSO sites right now, feeling ready to take on the day helps a lot with my productivity and workflow. I didn't cam for long before switching over completely to PSO stuff, but throwing on makeup--primer, full coverage foundation, concealer, powder, contour, blush, bronzer, highlight, brows, eyeshadow, liner, mascara, lashes, lip liner, liquid lipstick--always pumped me up to get online, because if I got through all that I may as well go ahead and get online and put it to use. I'm not sure the effort I put into my face even showed up all that much on cam, but it shows up more in the way I feel about myself after I've gotten ready. It's really easy to just give up on the day and go back to bed if I'm still bare-faced and kicking around in my jammies; I don't get to give up and wallow if I've gotten past the makeup and clothes stage. There are rare times when I can function without makeup, but overall I really prefer the security of this established routine. "If I can do this, then I can do that" has etched itself firmly into my brainmeat, and I take a lot of comfort in it.

Psychological motivations aside, I don't think I'd make very much if I cammed with little or no makeup. I'll probably do PSO stuff forever, but I do want to cam again once I've moved and I have more space to work with. I look super duper anemic and exhausted without anything on my face; I don't think that goes very well with the confident, put-together domme image I try to cultivate for myself. I admire the heck out of girls who do the natural/no makeup comfy shows, though.

I really think this depends on the site and the on-cam persona of the model. We are not all cookie cutter copies of one another! If we were, money would be terrible. There are diversity of women in the world, and a diversity of clients interested in them. I believe strongly in making porn you want to see. Porn producers have a very strong influence in the world. The people who watch us are in relationships, are raising children, are talking to their pals about what is sexy... when you show them that REAL women and REAL sex are actually very hot, it makes a positive difference in the world. And, you do actually make money.

For example, I started out doing a non-nude show. While this kind of thing takes longer to build lucrative regulars, they can end up paying a lot more in the long run. I ended up with a lot of converts. There were guys who came into my room purely out of curiosity, because they said they usually watch nude models and the fact that I was wearing a full outfit surprised them. It stood out on the page of naked bodies. They ended up staying, and saying they never knew a clothed girl could be so hot, and saying that they came the hardest they ever had in their lives just watching me tease... I had actually confused their sexuality, lol, because they couldn't understand how they came and I never even took off my dress, or my shorts! I never even flashed them. But they kept coming back for more after that. I had multiple grays who bought tokens for their first time ever because of me. Being the unexpected produces regulars, if you are good at what you do.

I am sick, and don't have the energy to put on makeup and do hair a lot of the time. But, I have very pale skin, a very innocent looking face, very girl-next-door type vibe. I can't help that. That's just the way I look. I don't look like a child, I look like an adult in my early 20s (I'm older than that). But, my customers are drawn to my eyes, my lips, my clear skin... they don't want anything in the way of their closeness to me. I make the exact same money so far, wearing no makeup at all, or wearing just a little. A lot does not look good on me - I look dumb and awkward. And, I don't like doing it anyway. Most makeups are proven to contain cancer-causing chemicals, and I'm not going to help myself get a disease for a job I plan to do only for a few years. Fuck that!

My hair is very unique and recognizable, so I use a wig most of the time on cam simply for privacy's sake, to avoid people I know recognizing me. Because I have known thousands of people from my former careers, and if any of them recognized me that would be a very shocking thing, and burn some professional bridges. So the hair thing is simple - throw wig on, keep it simple and natural looking and not too done up, pin to head, all done. I wish I could be natural completely, but I have to make compromises somewhere, for my own safety.

I am not the most consistent model. But I make money anyway - my regulars understand that I'm a human being with different moods and different styles. And, because I have a wide variety of things I like to do, I created multiple accounts with different cam personas, so I can act out my own moods without worry when the differences are extreme. On really sick days, I am the bitchy bitter girl with the dark wig and intense style, who plays angry music, complains when she feels like, and flashes body and is more aggressively sexual. I may wear glasses, or not show my face much at all, to hide that my eyes are bloodshot from the severe inflammation. Or sometimes I am party girl, crazy colors, over the top personality. These make almost as much money as innocent girl. But it keeps me from getting burned out always being one type of chick. Sometimes I'm not in a sweet, pliant mood! :)

In real life, a lot of the men I know much prefer a girl with no makeup, or very little. They HATE eye makeup. These are men with very professional jobs and a lot of money. They want intelligent girls who are kind and approachable, who LISTEN... who seem to care about them. They are turned off by fakeness, or someone who appears dishonest (which, annoyingly, many tell me they infer from makeup, or perceived hair dye). So I take my cue from what the men I know tend to be into. It is really hard to find realistic porn, with women who have a brain, a good velvety voice, and a trustworthy kind of quality. Not everybody wants that, to be sure. But, enough men around the world do that there is a real market for it. And when everybody else is doing the aggressive porn thing, with tons of makeup and fancy hair, fake tits and nails, or less of that but just a ton of overt nudity in the face... think about it, it is going to be highly marketable to be the one who is different. There is less competition! And, it's way the fuck easier and cheaper! Guys like SKIN. Guys like REAL. A lot are hard-wired to be highly turned on by certain motions, certain sounds, coupled with a sheen of sweat and a lot of bare skin. It looks like real sex to them. It looks like a girl who is into it.

Chaturbate is a good platform for models with no or little makeup - there seem to be more of us. And, it's a chat platform, so a lot of people interested in approachable types who they feel they can talk to or care about in some real (fake) sense. They love hard luck stories - a girl who can't even afford makeup or look like she is too professional (annoying, but plenty of the white knight syndrome out there). I see girls on there wearing dirty sweats, ratted out hair, no makeup, hanging back talking about their hard day and slouching, and making bank all the time. They're not usually the top model.... they're often a page or two in from the front. But it means they have way less competition. So far, I have not done the rumpled clothes and raggedy hair bit... it's not my persona. But I may try house-frau or chilled-out college student, and see if that persona makes as much money! It seems like a lot of fun, to be honest. I just don't personally know anyone who is into this (or maybe they don't admit it!) so I hesitate. But I'm inspired, and jealous as hell of these girls I see killing it all the time looking like they are mid-hangover and haven't showered for a week! I think that may be my true inner self! :) I'm thinking I might knot up my hair, pull out a bag of greasy cheesy processed snack food, rub the orange dust all over my nipples, and see what kind of stoner comes out to tip me big, lol!

Don't box yourself in, girls. One, that makeup is usually poison that sinks right into your cells. Cancer and autoimmune diseases are highly prevalent for a reason... and I no longer take my health for granted. And Two, for many of us, it's not as essential as you think. Men don't think like women do. They typically hate high fashion, and guys with a lot of money often prefer more natural looking faces. AND, keep in mind that for those who are willing to deal with that market, some of the biggest money to be had is in religious zealots, which are a bit of a specialty of mine. They are so repressed and ashamed, and will pay big for a girl they attach themselves to who allows them to vent all their crazy sexuality in a safe space away from prying eyes of the church/synagogue/mosque. Those type of guys - and there are many around the world - frequently prefer a more relatable woman, with less or no makeup, but a very big sensual appetite. Except for those who like the dominatrix type, which is entirely separate, and I haven't tried but suspect it might be hard to get away with no makeup doing, unless you have a mask.

When you look at those before and after photos of models, remember that while many women would say, oh clearly the side with makeup is more attractive! Many guys would say... I would rather talk to the no-makeup side. She looks more approachable/I think I could have a chance with her in real life/She looks kind/like a good listener/like she's more interesting/I would like to corrupt that innocent poor sweet girl with my filthy **** and be a bad boy to her!!

**If you're careful with your cam work and lighting, filters, etc, they can't see things like acne scars or small wrinkles or uneven skin tone, anyway! Don't give them full lighting closeups in HD if that's not your strong point! They pay for what's flattering to your style, and cam technicals are not one-size-fits all. I used to do photography for a former major girl crush I had - a best friend of mine. She had darker skin, some mild acne scarring on forehead, always bags under her eyes. She was to-die-for beautiful though, IMHO! I would tape her with dramatic contrast lighting, with a very dark curve of shadow over her forehead, and bright lighting under her face, and adjusting the coloring of the camera. The images were STUNNING. Minimal makeup, but it lit up the skin so you couldn't see the dark circles, overexposed so her skin blurred and looked flawless, and the dark top part covered her scarring completely. It looked dramatic and arty, but also effortless. It highlighted all her best features, and made her look mesmerizing... the way I saw her in my head every day in real life. Now, if you put my face in that same situation, I would look like a sick clown in white face! I recommend doing some test videos, and playing with lighting, contrast, etc. Not everybody looks best in the same thing... a little out of focus so people can't tell but so the skin blurs a little, a little less contrast, a little more white balance or less... Accent jewelry can help a lot too, because if it's shiny, the camera will focus there and be always just slightly blurry on your face.**

My skin is one of my better features. At other points in my life, my hormones were out of control and focusing the cam more on lips, or breasts, would have be better. My stomach has NEVER been my best feature, whereas on that girl I was talking about, her stomach was... well, I could pretty much cum just staring at it, really. So whereas I might make more money with face closeups, my friend might make more backing away from the camera and doing closeups on her stomach instead.

They don't know what they don't see. When they like you, they fill in the parts they don't see as all looking hot. If you only ever show them half your face, or you in darker lighting, a lot of them get excited by the mystery and simply assume the rest of you is as hot as your best feature that they DO see. I have short legs, but the way I use them on cam, everybody thinks I'm really tall. They assume I also have a great ass. I do not. I never show it on cam totally nude. They will pay me for the fantasy of how hot my ass is, what they want to do with it I will lean over so they can see my breasts and smack my ass from behind and talk about it... but they never actually see it, although they beg. Of course, some people will only pay for hardcore, and will leave. But plenty will stick around and pay for the fantasy, so screw those other guys. Never showing a certain thing, and saying offhandedly with a wink, "Oh... maybe someday you'll get to see it..." Or "I only show that to my highest paying customers" Or "I only show that to customers I know really well... it's special" makes them all talk about it in the room and chase the white whale (ahem... so to speak) of trying to be the lucky one who one day gets to see the real thing. It's like the psychology behind that CB girl threads complained about before, who always said she would take her clothes off but never did. CB people love that nonsense - chasing the unobtainable, the chance to be the special one who is more important than all the other customers and gets to see it.

OK, long post, but I have been away for a while, and I thought I would give some tips to those reading who want to try something different. It's hard when you've been long established always doing the same thing, and you have a bunch of regulars who expect you to always live inside that box or they will stop paying you. But if you take a risk, other regulars will eventually come along. When you're new, or willing to risk your money to play around and do different things, it's worth it to try different lighting, backing away further from the camera, or just saying fuck it and wearing no makeup or not doing your hair for a week, and seeing what happens. In my case, the best way to experiment has been to use the cam account I care less about to try new things, and when I like it or it does really well, I gradually then introduce it to my main account like it's no big deal, just another special facet of who I am that my regulars are lucky to get to see and be a part of. If I feel uncomfortable, you can see it in my face, so I need to try it out sometimes on a low-stakes account first. Other people might be better at faking being happy and feeling sexy for hours at a time, but I can only do it for about 20 minutes before my face starts to fall and my movements get awkward, if no money is coming in, lol!

I don't go out of the house without a little makeup usually. But I make money on cam without it. So I have learned to embody sexy feelings without it on cam. I use organic oils to keep my skin on point, and a hell of a lot of nutrition, and I'm never in the sun because I'm the type to burn easily. Sometimes I wear shimmer powder on top. But some of these girls don't look like they take much care of themselves, and they still make good money, so really we are all probably really overthinking it! Pretty girls are everywhere. The one who makes the connection is the one who makes the most money.

I write all this because before I started, I lurked in the general forum, and searched all over the internet for tips. And everything I saw, said "You must be shaved. You must be showered. You must have flawless makeup and hair done. You must wear lingerie, You MUST have bright lighting, HD cam, you must be willing to do hardcore. You must, you must, you must...This is the job..."
All turned out to be untrue in my case, and the case of so many other newer cam models. This is not the porn of Jenna Jameson days. Hipsters, curve-cravers, alt gender... all like porn, but do not necessarily crave having sex with Barbie. It's ok. There is room for all of us to do the thing that makes us individually shine. I wish I could have read a post like this when I started, so I'm writing it now. You can still make money being unique. And you don't have to wear makeup to do it. But if you like to wear makeup, by all means, keep doing what makes you feel happiest! Confidence sells. Even when you're playing the shy girl, a little glimmer in the eye says you got this. :)

TL;DR-Guys like a girl who likes sex. Guys like a girl who likes THEM. Mascara and all that other stuff is secondary. You can make money without a damn thing on your face. Creative camera work and lighting are your friends!

Whoever you are, you are SOMEBODY'S fantasy. :)
But cam modeling requires patience, especially if you do non-nude or girl-next-door type camming. At least in the meantime while you wait to build up regulars, you're saving money on makeup, and the health issues some of them can cause! If a guy does not like the way real women's faces look natural, without false eyelashes, contouring, paint colors, teeth bleaching, several layers of pancake foundation... he does not like women! If he wants to fuck a piece of plastic, he can go do that somewhere else, as far as I'm concerned. I only sell human sex, not cyborg Barbie plastic drag queen erotica. That has a time and a place... but just not on my page. I'm not letting dudes dictate to me what a woman should be. As a woman, who is sexually attracted to women, I would fucking know what a REAL woman is, and what hot sex is. If he's not into what I'm offering, it's his loss. Plenty more waiting in line after him. Cam girls have a power traditional porn stars never had. We can MAKE porn now, we direct it, it is OUR concept. We shape human sexuality, by offering real human sex. Not the blow-up doll fantasy of yesteryear. For me personally, that is an important power, and I embrace it wholeheartedly. It makes a very big difference. Porn impacts how people view women, and how people have sex. I try to do it, in a way I want it done to me. :)

I hope all of you are having a great day! :)

I think I go back to work tomorrow. Damn roommates have gotten in the way up to now, but they should all finally be at work on the same frigging schedule. :)

Any news anchor wears more make up in a single day, than we’ll consume in a decade, men included. Is anyone bothered by that?
It's partly because of the bright-ass lights they're under, and the super-HD cameras they're using now. Gotta cover up any flaws because it's not "professional" to have scars and spots or uneven skintone, and once you do coverup, now you have to contour or your face looks 2-D instead of 3D, especially with the lights, and now you also need some blush to add a little color to your face, and probably a natural-colored lipstick so you don't look dead.

I've seen a rant online about makeup that concluded in pointing out that anyone on camera for a job is wearing makeup, and my favorite quote of all time, "Orlando Bloom is wearing more makeup than your girlfriend." While it would be nice if everyone didn't have to wear makeup on TV and in movies, the reality is that they would look washed out and/or ill without it.

Question for the ladies...

As a member, I notice that trends in makeup application occur, not just in camming, but in everyday life as well. Most of the trends seem to be influenced by certain celebrities and become so prevalent that many women try and emulate them to a detriment. The most recent trend I have a question about, is what I call the "wings" thing that ladies are now doing to the corner of their eyes with eyeliner. Anyone have an idea where this originated?

I think it depends on the model, the makeup, and the expectation.

I do not wear a lot of heavy eye makeup because it makes me look angrier. But, if I do not absolutely conceal my face to the point where my face would look like it was melting in heat then I won't make enough because I have red skin and guys do not want to see absolutely any definition in my face because I have that "young" look. Definition in face = killed fantasy of me being some fresh out of high school baby woman. (I could be wrong, but this is the information I have gathered over the years)

If you choose to go makeup-less and it works for you, then you should stick to it. But if you choose to wear makeup, you should also stick to it. I can get away with little to no eye makeup, and it's actually shown me better results, but I cannot go without concealer and foundation.

It's been around forever, and ebbs in and out of popularity. It's kinda inspired by ancient Egyptian makeup, which we see examples of in art from the time:

It was huge in the 60's, and has been in and out of fashion repeatedly since then. Depending on the era, it's either called "winged eyeliner" or "cat-eye eyeliner", and it serves to make the eyes seem more pointed, as indicated by the "cat-eye" name.

I had never seen this before. I found my reactions interesting.

Of course it was no makeup vs. over the top porn star makeup. Most, to me, would be better somewhere in between.

That being said, I preferred the majority of no makeup pics. Some were pretty rough, and I'm like, yeah, put on something. I get that porn is selling a fantasy, so the garish makeup is kind of expected. But there were a couple where I though "Oh my, I did not realize how beautiful she actually is." A lot of it is way overdone.

For the OP, the models that look "natural", I don't know how much or how little makeup they use. Doesn't matter to me. However, I do tend to stay away from models that use an abundance of clearly evident makeup, unless it's for effect, like KISS makeup.

Wow! Thanks for the info. Never knew it had been around that long.

Several years back, when Tammy Faye Baker was in the news because of her husband, a woman invented a Tee-shirt that made her a fortune in the Va. Beach area. The shirt had a splotching of various colors on the front that resembled the outline of someone's face who was obviously wearing waaay too much makeup. On the back of the shirt a caption read; "I ran into Tammy Faye Baker at the mall". :D

I find it extremely important to have an impeccable look while camming, so I always use make-up. However, I don't exaggerate, I like to keep a natural appearance.
