Hi girls (and guys), I'm a newbie, I've only been on cam about 5 times in the last 2 years, always really wanted to do it, never got round to it fully..

Anyway. Do any of you always wear something like an eye mask on cam e.g. To protect identity / look mysterious / not having to do your brows  and would you say you could still earn the same with one than without?

TIA

This question seems to come up a lot on forums and discussions. I've wondered about it myself. It always makes me think of the Tom Cruise-Nicole Kidman movie, "Eyes Wide Shut"... just about everyone at that sex club wore masks... and most of the girls... only masks. Personally, I found it to be erotic and kind of elegant. If you could enhance the mysterious and elegant aspect throughout your presentation... lighting, room decor, music and other ambience... wouldn't surprise me to see it work well. It'd definitely be something different.

People go on cam sites, as opposed to just watching random porn on a tube site, to make a connection with models. That doesn't happen so much with models who wear masks unless they have a tremendously good game to make up for hiding their faces.

A number of models have asked about masks, for the same reasons (apart from the "brow" thing), and none of them have stuck around. None of the current successful models on MFC regularly hide their faces, as far as I recall. There are some who have gone in for heavy cosplay make-up but that involves a lot more effort than doing your brows.

As far as MFC goes, there's a rule. I don't know how other sites handle this.

Face on camera
Models are required to keep their face on camera, at least part of the time. (Permanently hiding one's face off camera, wearing a mask, or only showing one's face in private chat is not allowed.)

This website is about friendly personal interaction and that is only possible when members see the faces of the models.

I don't think it really works for camming, in order to get people to stay and return as regulars you need to be able to make a connection with them which is much harder to do with a mask on, I do remember a model called Leiadown who has now retired but she always wore a mask and was successful so it can be done but she was definitely an exception rather then a standard thing everyone can just replicate.

I thought about doing this when i first started. I wasn't comfortable with exposing myself yet. I have had many instances where ppl come into my room and say they know me. But they never ever tell me who they are!! Ive even had people call me by my real name which freaked me out at first but now i just blow it off. I get grossed out thinking some asshole that bullied me in highschool just seen me completely naked. I always block them and move on. But i guess my perspective has changed. Im not uncomfortable with people seeing me naked and if they know who i am so what.

I would say masks would greatly impair your ability to make money. I'm sure there are a few successful people but in general I think you're better off without it.
You can only do so much to protect your identity--most models will have at least one person find out unfortunately. Might as well make as much $$ possible by being maskless lol

If cosplay, or like, superhero fetish was your thing, then maybe. This will already potentially limit your audience, but would attract members who would be less concerned with your face being covered, I imagine. Camming greatly depends on personality and personal connection, so it's hard (though I wouldn't say impossible) to succeed with so much of your persona concealed. Like I said, unless that's part of your shtick.
