First day on MFC: almost no earnings

Hi!

I thought long about being a cam girl, and before I did I started reading on this forum, to get some more information about camming. Finally, I decided to sign up and yesterday I had my first day on MFC. But I did not make any money. Got in 2 shifts like 60 tokens on tips, and no privates. What I had, were a lot of free loaders, and people asking about c2c, people who were trying to trick me and a lot of PMs. I disabled the PMs and I muted the guests and basics, but still, freeloaders. I put on some count downs, but for me it is difficult to start because I do not know what to charge for example for a boob flash or panties off, or something like that. I also find it difficult to make people go into a private show with me.

When I started camming, ofcourse I was not expecting to make a lot of money from the beginning. Everything has a learning curve, but I read those stories on here about girls making at least 1000 tokens on their first day. My camscore is now around 850, and this is too low ofcourse. What could I be doing wrong? Maybe it is the time I go on, I am from Holland and when I got on yesterday, it was like morning in the US.

I expected to do a lot of cumshows, and this kind of things when on cam, but it seems MFC is more about socializing and a lot of freeloaders. I am starting to think Streamate may be a better fit for me? I am comfortable with nudity and sexuality, I have done glamour modeling in the past so this would not be a big deal for me.

Last question, are there any other Dutch girls around here? Just curious

The time thing is a valid point. Do you have a twitter account and promote yourself on there? Most of the things on MFC happen in the free chat. If you're looking to do more privates and cumshows streamate may be a better fit.

It may be too late now but MFC is NOT the best site to get your 'feet wet' on because its make or break in regards to camscore. You can find yourself in a downward spiral very easily based on one bad shift (even I have had 60tk shifts..)

I'd really suggest that you start out out on another site to begin with.

Realistic expectations would be good. It was not realistic to expect a ton of privates on your first day. Your prices seem very fair so I don't think that is the problem. That's a problem for some girls overpricing themselves. I wouldn't worry about who is or isn't tipping so early in your cam days don't allow that to influence you so early. Focus on the guys who are interested in you. Build up relationships with them so they will want to comeback and tip you and take you private. Honestly I don't see anything wrong with the room. Good lighting, cute girl who is friendly with good music and is talkative. The only real problem I see is lack of possible tippers. I would keep up a public goal and have a game that works towards that goal. That way they can have incentives for flashes, public show and privates. Be it a card game, spin the wheel game or drinking game. Whatever you are comfortable with. A few things I noticed in your profile. You are bi-curious so maybe having another friend sign up and cam with you could get you more traffic. A lot of girls will say they are single when they are not. Many girls will move the ring off the finger. That's up to you but the illusion could help.

If you decide to try another site, I would suggest you spend a lot of time there as a member before you decide to broadcast. Really get to know the site and how the members interact with the model, I only know CB and MFC and while they are similar, they also are very different in many ways.

As long as you get the tokens prior then you are good. But some of these guys are masters at convincing you to stay longer. By either over talking...promising to tip more...etc etc. I also don't trust the safety of Skype. But that's ultimately your decision.

SM is more private show focused for sure. Less drama. Less freeloaders. I think it's a great place to get your feet wet. The rules are very different so be careful on that. You can't exchange any off site info. No Twitter. No wishlist. No email. You can't state that you are also on another site. Etc.

Another thing you might consider is offering a video if anyone stays in private with you for 5+ minutes. It's a good way to get tokens and you can make it a teaser video. Maybe just a sensual nude teasing video. You can also offer a "Part 2" where you actually get off for the 2nd 5+ minutes show they do with you. It's a good way to get repeat customers/regs

Camgirls charge anywhere from 100tks to 10,000 tokens for a public cum show.

Most girls with higher countdowns break up theri countdown. For example, I personally won't do a cumshow for less than 3000tks in most situations. However, I'm never going to post a 3k countdown. Instead i Post 900tks till topless, 900 till naked, 1200 till cum show - for example. At the end, i have 3k. It also allows members who maybe cant stay the full hour or so that it will take me to accomplish that goal, to get something for their tips.


Things to think about when setting your cum countdowns:

-What do other girls with my camscore set theirs at?
-How much do I feel my public orgasms are worth?
-How much can i reasonably make in an hour or two? (in my opinion running a single countdown that is likely to run for more than 2 hours is a bad idea)
-Are there people in my room who are likely to clear a high count
-How long will my cum show be? How explicit?

I believe JoleneBrody (currently has a 10or 12 k score last time I looked) was in the 500s years ago when she started. I know she's always mentioned it was a LOT of hardwork to get her score back up but it's paid off. It can be done, but I don't know that it's a 'short span' thing unless you get lucky and get a bigggg spender in fast.

Oh, I totally think it's a lie but I give the benefit of the doubt too often. I just think, maybe it's possible if you're camming for 12 - 16 hours straight all the time because, even if you get big tips from one or two people, you're still on enough to kill your camscore. I don't know if they are necessarily scamming you. Most just want to pay less than private rates, I think. If you're okay with making less per minute then Skype shows could be a great way to get your camscore up (accept tokens only). You can say you don't offer cam-to-cam on Skype and require them to turn their cam and mic off. I know girls that do that.

I completely agree that MFC is absolutely the wrong place to start camming for the majority of cam girls.

I think those are perfectly reasonable rates, although I'm sure some models will disagree. One of the problems with MFC, as opposed to CB, is that rates are fixed for all girls, so a camgirl with a camscore 500 has to charge the same as camgirl with 5,000, or 10,000. Since a True private cost the members more $380/hour (well more than any lawyer I've paid), we tend to be pretty pick about who that kind of money, and gravitate toward higher camscore models, making harder for lower camscore model to pick up privates. 2400 tokens= $120/hour which well more than a living wage.

Been online every day now and I still cant figure out what I am doing wrong. I looked at all the troubleshooting guides but nothing is working..
- I talk. I do not type, except if someone puts me on mute or they ask 'how much is this or that': I type that, so that other people can read it as well. Although I have an accent I can talk English pretty well. I have the C920, a good PC, good internet, I stream in HD.

When you greet everyone, do you call them out by their username? This can scare people away. Some people are shy, or they like to read a profile or quietly sit in the room for a minute or two before chatting in order to get a feel for the vibe of the room. But when you call them out by username, they feel put on the spot, feel obligated to talk or tip, and end up leaving because they're uncomfortable. A general "How are you guys doing today?" addressed to the room as a whole when it's quiet is better in my opinion. Everything else that you're doing sounds good.

Just because you're not making much on MFC doesn't mean you're a bad camgirl or not cut out for camming. It could be you need to give it more time (lots of top models had low camscores at one point) or try other websites, which you are going to be doing, as well. On MFC, you really need to be patient and stick to a consistent time schedule to build regulars. It can take months to start doing well to the point where you are satisfied. There are a few girls who do well right off the bat, but it takes the majority of successful camgirls a while to build up a following.

Little did I realise the hard work, hours, tears, stress and headaches they went through to get to that stage where they can chill out a bit more.

And even after all that, MFC isn't always the right place for some girls. I have learnt that MFC changes every 3-6 months, trends appear to happen there. Above is a very good post and well worth rereading. I never read on AFC anyone say that before.
You can NOT just watch a top model and assume it's all like that. To me MFC has many levels, rooms have different members types and it takes different abilities to be a success at different levels.
