Since I couldn't find the original post where this was mentioned.....

Just a quick update in case anyone was wondering about the honor student that was tossed in jail for missing school here north of Houston.

Briefly, shes an honor student that works 2 jobs to help support siblings. The judge threw her in jail for missing to many days, altho she maintained her school work and an A+ average. There was a petition started and over 200,000 signatures were given in support of the girl and her situation. Today with help of an attorney that took her case pro-bono, the judge and local DA, dropped the case and cleared her record. Having a criminal record was her biggest concern since it would have affected her admission to college.

Go her!! Having some truancy issues myself that were due to a situation I couldn't control, I can totally relate to her situation. I think it's absolutely awesome that she was still able to finish school!

No worries :) Just to clarify, I wasn't trying to be snippy or anything. It just helps keep the forum organized and reduces the chance of people making multiple posts about the same subject in different areas. Just trying to help Amber keep things relatively organized. :thumbleft:

Back to OP, it's good to see common sense prevail but pretty sad it took petitions and lawyers to make it happen. Sorta reminded me of the 1st grader who got suspended or expelled because he had a little plastic Army toy soldier with a gun in his backpack.
