Sorry if I'm ranting but I have to explain this.
I'm brand new to MFC cause I need the $$ and came in knowing full well that the traffic is high and girls who have been on for years have more regulars but the problem I'm having is kinda ridiculous and kind of self esteem killing.
When I started three days ago I muted Basics and Guests. About 2-4 Premiums would come in and IMMEDIATELY leave, like I didn't get to even say hi before they split! or even weirder if I say hi to them by name they leave. I figured it's cause I wasn't talking or being interesting yet so after 10 minutes of this I log off, try again later and I turned basics back on hoping to entice premiums with my personality and conversation I'm getting from Basics and they came in more but now just stare at me nerding out and having fun with Basic's.

I tried starting off with clothes and had a reasonable token prices to strip which didn't work, logged off then started later topless and teasing no avail. I smoke my vape, play with my pets and snuggle with my stuff animals, wear thigh highs and a cute purple bow so I try to make myself interesting while waiting for people .

How do I win in this scenario where Basic's are more appealing (and more loyal) than Premiums who will just stare at me or not give me a moments chance to be personable or leave when I'm not giving a show.
I made $10 being online in about 9 hours total.

This is tricky, as I have a similar issue. Some people are heartbroken they only made $100 dollars in a day. Man, I would be over the moon if I made that much in a day! It has yet to happen for me, will it ever happen? Who knows. So take my observations with a grain of salt, this might indeed be bad advice:

Sometimes I put music on and dance around. I can dance for several hours straight at a time no issue there, but yeah then you get people just watching. OR you try to engage in a conversation and crickets... Many girls play gambling games (pay X tokens, spin wheel, or roll a dice and win a prize) which always have a "prize", usually a video or picture set. So get videos and picture sets made as these will help ya out in the long term!

Read aloud a movie scrip or funny Ya h oo Answers, my favorites are typing in Luigi Board. Or, just start telling basic members stories about this one time you were super embarrassed because XYZ happened. It's a good way to showcase some vulnerability, which some guys find VERY attractive, but it also highlights that you have some confidence if you can laugh about it now.

I bet you like a dollar someone is going to tell you to "get verified so you have access to information!" but alas, that's not quick to happen and if you're like me, your self esteem is going to sag quicker than my boobs!

You will then be asked about your lightening and camera. Have like a Logitech 920C, it's the industry standard for caming, more or less, and have ample lightening. If people want to tip you to do stuff, they want to see as much as they can in glorious high definition.

What I noticed about the successful girls is that they have some sort of theme going on. One girl puts on various costumes and does personas, another plays piano, one has a baking show where they put on some sexy outfit that involves lingerie and they bake a cake. Are you good at spinning records? Yoga? Playing jazz flute? Guitar?? Then again, these girls are already established and their show is more or less entertainment to the patrons that buy the videos, pictures, raffle tickets, fanclubs etc. Gambling prize shows are more common for those starting out.

Ok, next, is your atmosphere inviting? Is Cliff going to stop by and tell you about beer? Some people want a hang out atmosphere, others just want something that looks seductive and inviting... there is no right answer to this honestly, what works for one person isn't going to work for another... too many extraneous variables to account for. Others will ask if you're being seductive enough to gently tease people into giving you dem sweet tokens. Heck if I know what a seductive is. I try it, doesn't work. I talk about the time a car caught on fire, or a brake line broke and I get hit with "your personality is incredible!".

Quick ways to start earning those tokens:

Offer C2C for 25 tokens for minutes of watching. Many guys are just UTTERLY turned on by the thought of you watching them, and reacting to you, with them watching you... watch them (it's this super meta psychological thing going on). They'll whip out their pipelines as if their life depended on it, so give them an "over the top" and "dramatic" reaction in the public chat. They want to see and hear your reaction, not have you type if to them.

Smaller: Often, smaller guys will ask you if it's too small, either 1) they are into humiliation or 2) they want some self-esteem boosters. I call small guys "fun size" or "just the right size for me!" and we could go for a long time without me being sore. We have more fun if you're small. (ooo and aaaahhh here, or do the "aawww it's adorable!". Seems like you play up the adorable bit.

Average: Ooooo! That looks like it would hit all the right places! You look like you know how to shift your gears well (whoops that's what I say as my mechanic persona on Chaturbate). I like how it curves, that would make me squirt in no time!

Decent size: WOW! That's sooo big, I don't know if it would fit!

Jumbo: HOLY COW!! (I channel my inner Harry Caray) IS that honestly real? Are you sure you're not a stallion trying to trick me?

Remember, no one likes being told they are ugly or being rejected, why they come see you on cam (this is coming from me, who was voted as being the bottom of the barrel in terms of attractiveness in high school. I speak from experience on this one), so you must compliment everyone on C2C in a unique way. If you're good at creative writing, you'll do well in this area.

Consider fetish things? MFC has rules against many things, but feet and pantyhose are A-OK.
Put some stockings on and offer a foot job for a dildo for tokens, or something with feet. Some people just go nuts at feet. There is also the "nearsighted like Thelma from Scooby-Doo fetish" Jinkies! Put in model you have glasses and are nearsighted (if you are, like me). People will give you tokens to take off your glasses, check your phone without glasses or read stuff without glasses. It's a quick way to hustle for tokens.

GOALS: As you notice by now, many people have goals. Some are 5,000 until a bra comes of or until a "special show" initiates. If you're having problems keeping people and you struggle to make $9 in a day, then do a gambling show or a C2C thing and set your goal of "sensually eating a banana" at 100 tokens. Goal 1 reached? Maybe goal 2 is oil or lotion on the boobs? Goals have to be low enough where you can get tips fast enough for the people who are watching you and tipping will be satisfied. I should really get some bananas... I'm sort of nodding my head in agreement that a sensual banana eating goal is in order.

Caming is essentially being a modern Geisha, it's why personality is constantly stressed over physical looks (I admit, why I was attracted to caming. I get told all the time about this "open and mesmerizing personality" of mine. I thought I could squeak by in the looks department). If your personality comes out while talking to basic members, then that is awesome! Once you find your personality, you start to hone in on it and become that unique persona that brings something interesting to the table.

Look at it this way, Rome wasn't built in a day. I said that when I first started losing weight, before becoming the weight loss and fitness queen. I knew it was going to take some time. You build your following brick by brick. Once your castle is built, it won't matter how long it took to build it. Some of the successful models started out in porn, so they brought over a BIG following with them. Others just worked hard at it and were online ALL the time until the right people found them. You just need to find the right mortar and castle design (Sorry, I can only relate to things in bizzare analogies).

About 2-4 Premiums would come in and IMMEDIATELY leave, like I didn't get to even say hi before they split!

They're just browsing the site and hitting "next model" till they find a girl or show that does it for them. It's absolutely not personal, some people are looking for something specific.

or even weirder if I say hi to them by name they leave

This is something that members almost universally dislike. It puts them on the spot and makes them uncomfortable. A general "hey, guys" targeted towards everyone is a little more comfortable for most.

As hard as it is, limit how much free attention you're giving basics. While some premiums are more likely to participate in an ongoing conversation, some really dislike basics and won't participate in a room where they can talk. It's a delicate balance to work, because the conversation can definitely be helpful.

Something I like to do to get tips flowing is new tipper deals: when someone tips me for the first time, they get a prize. When I work on MFC, I actually have structured prizes, but I don't tell members specifics, I just say "new tippers get a prize". I usually get 10-50 tokens, sometimes 100 or more from these tippers. A small amount of tokens gets them a small photoset, more gets a video. I have a couple teasy, fun photosets, and some flirty, teasy videos. These can be easily shot with your webcam or phone, they don't have to be super fancy. I shoot tons of videos, so giving one away here and there doesn't hurt me much, but for newer models or models who don't film as much, pictures are probably better. I send these out via Dropbox and have all the links stored in Notepad so I can just copy+paste.

Thanks for all the information.

I want to do raffles and games and my cam quality is normal though I don't have a fancy set, it's just me on my bed.
I'll turn off basic's again and keep trying different angles.

What should I do while I wait for someone to come and actually stay longer than a millisecond? I've tried being cute, being sexual, acting like I don't notice the camera, sexily doing chores, reading, vaping.
Eventually I get the feeling I'm just ugly and not what people want

It's really hard to give a specific "this is what to do to keep people in your room". I've had a successful shift that consisted of me taking apart an old bed frame and putting together a new one, but I've done equally well just kicking back and chilling with my cats, or sitting at my desk, or sexy-ing it up on the bed. The best thing you can do is log on at the same time every day that you work, and stream for the same amount of time.

I can't really say what will work for you as everyone is different, but I can name a few things that always help me with room count-
(Besides the classics of good cam, lighting and internet connection- these things made a massive difference for me)

- When I stand up, dance and move around my room count always goes up. Even if I'm doing sexy stuff on a bed, unless I'm masturbating, standing up always brings more people in. Might not be for everyone but I think people prefer that I'm moving around. People often click on rooms due to the screenshot of what's going on in your room so it's definitely worth it always looking great. Try out camera angles and see what works for you, in my experience the ones people come in for aren't always what I would think are sexiest. I tend to mix this up with short breaks of sitting down and chatting, or leaning over the cam and chatting.

- What you wear is important, and not necessarily what you think will be sexy. For me what works is dressing casually as possible, strappy top, knickers/thong, maybe tight hotpants. Basically what I might wear to sleep in minus pj bottoms (the less you're wearing the more you'll usually attract-but that doesn't always equate to more tokens- Though I find if I come on fully dressed I have trouble earning or getting a room count).

- While I stand up and dance around I also talk and interact with the room. Sometimes this is basically talking to myself. Even though I have a reasonable room count I often might as well be alone, so getting good at random chatter and talking to yourself is useful (though makes you look crazy in real life). If you do something talk while you do it, I would recommend if you do anything make sure you're engaging with the camera as if it looks like you're ignoring the chat people will move on quickly.

- When you do have people in the room, I don't call them out by name (unless they're one of my best friends) but do say "hello! How is everyone?" or ask how their days have been, or even ask if the quality of your cam is ok. Again, random chatter. Imagine you're a street performer and have just set up, you've got to get people curious enough to stand by and watch. Then make them feel they don't want to leave or are comfortable with starting a conversation. Ten minutes is not enough time to build a room count up, I often barely make anything for the first hour of camming and make the most in my second and third hour so it is worth staying on and building up the crowd.

- Getting tokens, having a good tip menu really helps. If I don't set a decent topic I am unlikely to make much. Lots of members distrust models, especially new models. So having it that you accept private shows in your topic is useful. Many higher camscore models don't take private shows except on occasion so there's usually a market for them. There is also less trust needed for a private show, they pay per minute and can leave at any point. If it is your thing then I find talking about wanting to go private helps, mentioning being horny etc. And when you go into a private (unless it's trueprivate) saying to the room it turns you on when you get spies. If you prefer the public room then having good picture sets on your profile and having videos for sale in your topic and on your profile helps people tip for something immediate and it can also go towards the countdown. Make sure you organise links and send them immediately. I don't know if you are up for cumshows, but definitely if you can work the public room and get your countdowns finished they bring in a lot of new people. While most are freeloaders I have made a lot of regulars from cumshows so they're worth thinking about.

- Personally for me games and stuff have never worked well, but if you're creative then having stuff to tip for is great! I prefer just doing paddle spanks in the room as I find them pretty fun and gets the room engaged. Some people definitely find them sexy, but I think a lot of my regulars just find it entertaining seeing the reaction so it seems to have a bit for everyone. Gives an excuse to show off your bum and have a giggle.

- Think of times that you're coming on cam. I am british and find the best times for me are UK evenings. I come on at various other times and sometimes I have better earlier sessions, but for me evening is best. Weekends are pretty much always crap for me though. Also are you blocking your country? That's a personal choice for you, but it could lose yourself on viewers as many members go for local girls.

Try not to be too disheartened, we all started somewhere. You will find what works for you. What I have put is pretty generic stuff and may or may not work for you. But they are a few things to experiment with. The only thing I can really specify 100% is to be true to yourself, you can take tips and ideas from other models but acting naturally is much better than pushing yourself into behaving in a way that doesn't feel comfortable to you! Try not to fall into desperation or insecurity, I know it can be really difficult, but acting confident that your room is the best possible place to be (or at least a happy fun environment) does encourage people to linger. You'll have good days and bad days, but really it only takes one or two to stop by. The scary (and slightly sad) part about MFC is most of your money will come from a few good tippers.

Also, this forum is full of a bunch of amazing members. Posting here has led me to make several great friendships that have lasted for years. I don't tend to advertise here as for me it's about the social aspects, but if you contribute to discussions there will likely be people who'll like your personality and may stop by your room. Thinking about it, quite a lot of my highest tippers are former ACF friends. So there are definitely ways of meeting awesome members without it just being a physical thing while you stream. And I think most of my other highest tippers and good friends were silent viewers for a bit first.
I hope some of this will be of help! Sign up for the models only section as it's full to the brim of amazing resources! There is also a camgirl wiki which has some great information! Good luck ;)

What you have experienced is pretty normal. You can't take it personally. It feels worse because your regulars haven't found you yet.

You need to drop the insecurity when it comes to looks with visitors. Those who visit tend to be certain that they like how you look, the visit is to assess your room chat: scroll up and see what kind of action you have been up to, and any member responses.
As a member you must do this quickly or risk being 'called out' by the model working the room; a model who will let us sit silently until we are ready to spend often wins member favour. Calling individual members out even with a hello is a bad idea, and will always look desperate.
If you take a look at more popular rooms, most of the premiums are not involved in the room. Most of the chat (and spending) come from few members.

The member has most likely already seen you before, they have searched a tag, previewed you (perhaps many times), actually chosen to visit at this point. Those who leave fast are still only looking, they may return as you become more popular or as conversation improves.
The others are yours to entertain as you please, each one you can assume is interested, but may not be up to spend on you. At this point there must be a million ways to run your room, some will work and some won't.

Look for premiums with tokens, reward points vs account age, and for where compliments or engagement come from (any visitor). The first two signal intent/ capacity to spend, the last on what is working well in your room.
Wait for something to develop before individually engaging a premium. A tip, hello, compliment, request, criticism, observation, or question are all reasonable invitations to engage and show off who you are.
Engaging premiums/ all visitors as a group is fine, and may inspire first contact. '"So guys shall we do that again... something else? How about someone tip me, make a request?" (Doesn't matter if you reject the request, the engagement is there.)

When no one is around it is all about capturing attention, imagine yourself as your own audience, whatever you do don't just sit there. Explore different angles, dance a bit, play music, try on some different shoes/ clothes... anything is fine so long as it is not too visually boring.

@IsabellaSnow thanks. I didn't think calling out a person's name was so disliked. I personally would love for someone I admire and tipping to speak directly at me but guess not everyone is okay with that.
I'll sign up for the models only and try to make more friends also.

@Ambers Troll I'll take your advice thank you. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Last question then I'll leave you all alone lol. Now today a premium member(who had bought tokens years ago)claimed to want to help me and said he worked with other members on CB one being Lisalightful. I bit the bullet and C2C with him to get secret tatics and he helped me pull in another premium. I wasn't tipped but probably have a regular for later.
Should I keep trusting that person? Should I keep talking and teasing if a premium has no tokens but could become a regular at the risk of my camscore? The guys name is patter2 I believe btw

You can't know he doesn't have tokens. And if is showing tokens, that doesn't mean you are getting them.

I know and i never expect to just be handed them, I try to do something to earn them if the person stays but I'd been warned multiple times not to give keep giving free shows/teases/sexual plays or i'd be taken advantage of.

Anytime a member asks for something I give a pretty reasonable to cheap price since I'm still a newbie and they instantly leave

How do I win in this scenario where Basic's are more appealing (and more loyal) than Premiums who will just stare at me or not give me a moments chance to be personable or leave when I'm not giving a show.

Basics aren't expected to spend money so it's pretty easy for them to just hang around and be friendly when they don't feel the pressure of tipping.

AVOID!
Ok that's just my opinion, but when I was a less experienced model I almost had my time on cam ruined by these types of members. They're looking for free attention and rarely have good advice. They're "advice" is usually to do things that they enjoy, they also get a kick out of controlling you and getting you to do free stuff for them.

If he's not tipping you then don't go c2c with him, he needs to tip for that. I doubt this guy has any intention of tipping you, and if he does it's probably not going to be much. Guys like this never visit me anymore because they're the types which like to take advantage of girls like you who don't yet know the game.

Many of us have fallen into this trap, but seeing as he's not tipping you and is taking away your attention from the public room your camscore will go down, not up.
I wouldn't give many straight up pieces of advice to people, but one that I think is pretty tried and tested is not to give free shit out to members who've never spent on you. Sure, if they're a trusted friend who spends lots on you "just because" and is clearly the sort who doesn't like to ask you to do things then sending little gifts their way (pics that you know they'd like etc) is a lovely thing to do. But this is a random guy on the internet, why would he spend anything if you're giving it to him for free? It lowers the value of your service. Personally I don't even have pm's open for people off my friendslist as it distracts me from the room, encourages them not to talk in the public room and discourages those who might tip for a friendslist add. I have my friends add set to 200 tokens at the moment, it's cumulative tips (and from private shows) so once they've reached over that I feel they're serious enough about me to be trusted with pm's. I used to have it lower when I started. I wouldn't sell it for under 100 tokens though. If members need to message you they can send an mfc mail.

One reason I wouldn't trust these "helper" guys is that they are more likely to push you into acting in a way you aren't comfortable with. I'll use an example of someone I met, he did tip me a little bit for a personal fetish request. I was actually not doing too badly token wise but used to have a room count of around 30-40. He basically dictated that I needed to repeat what he said to get my room count up, which was way too sexual and dirty for my taste (he hadn't tipped for this). My room count did get up to 70 when I was doing this, but I felt completely uncomfortable and made less tokens than I usually did. The guy was just a controlling arsehole and clearly got off on it. I had been in a skype with him before, he persuaded me to use paypal (while not telling me it would give out my full name), something which I have never done since. I eventually banned him because he messaged me when I was about to go out, saying he had tokens and he'd like to go skype but he wanted to see me on MFC first. So I got ready for cam and came on cam, at this point he said I had misunderstood and he was going to "help" me get skypes (something which I had no issues with getting and definitely hadn't misunderstood). He'd already been making me feel like shit about camming and I realised he was completely wasting my time so banned him. He then threatened me with releasing my details (which he didn't as I was very clear I wasn't going to be blackmailed).
I have fortunately not allowed any other members to do this, but I have been spoken to by this type of guy and in my experience they are abusive members and best avoided completely. If he's not tipping you and is taking up your time and attention then he doesn't respect your job, and if he thinks he can cam better than you then he doesn't respect your judgement or have any interest in how you cam right now.
Small suggestions from members are fine, better lighting, cam quality etc. Even mentions that if you sold videos then they would buy them. If you're making a blatent mistake there are members who'll be nice and point it out.

I will now give an example of a genuinely helpful member who came to me when I first cammed. First off, he took me in a bunch of long privates. This showed he was a serious member and genuinely wanted me to do well, and was genuinely interested in me. He then told me about ACF, and he then showed me how to make a basic account and we went around MFC together, him showing me lots of models so I could make up my own mind. This member still comes and visits me every now and then and tips, though I think he finds enjoyment from helping out new models primarily. But he never once asked for free attention or time or told me how to run my room or how to bring in other members.
One of the great things about camming is that we don't need pimps or douche managers who want to micromanage us. It is a job where as a woman you do not need a man to tell you how to run your show. You are completely free to do as you like, and will almost certainly do better without male control. I think there are lots of members who do not believe women are capable enough to do this, and probably have a pimp fantasy. Best to avoid them like the plague!
