I think it depends on the performer/nature of each camming site. For the most part I consider camming softcore.
Most mfc shows I consider more softcore (since there's no b/g sex)
CB/SM I consider more hardcore because you tend to see more graphic stuff things (couples, huge insertions)

I use CB, usually with a friend we keep everything in public chat "softcore" ( no shown penetration, usually just having cute sexy fun) but in pvt or groups we enjoy getting much nastier. Definitely just depends on the room. Many of my shows when I started were just me reading poems and talking about house plants communications with aliens..wing nut core. Actually,I would say that camming can be either hardcore or softcore.In fact, camming can become taboo pornography if the performer pushes the boundaries of taste. Frankly, it depends on the site and the performer.However, if you are an independent cam model than you do not have to follow rules. For example, many indie cam models offer fetishes consider to be taboo in the porn world such as rape play, naziplay, extreme raceplay, and extreme ageplay. Also you can offer these things in virtual worlds such as Second Life, Red Light District, and IMVU as well.
