Is it just me? It's been like straight dead for like 5 days, like absolutely almost dead on Streamates and Chaturbate. There's traffic this time around (yay for that) but they're just sitting around, like really weird. And they're rarely buying. Am I the only one? Seems like we really are entering a very tough economy phase here because I hadn't gone through this in my full almost 13 years of camming.

I was expecting to see a great improvement in March compared to February but so far it does not seem much better. It does seem very quiet across all my sites. I keep posting videos, making content in the hopes that when the busy times come, and they will, it will all fly off the shelfs.

I'm on standby waiting but it is extremely dead and of course I have already resorted to plan B for other streams of income. The industry may actually be dying if there's no inflation relief and financial markets keep being dominated only by whales. Especially with pornhub free videos being at everyone else's fingertips., our viewers won't need us. Just really sad times. I was trying to stay positive but I've been in this industry for so long I can smell when something really bad is coming.

Plus the sheer amount of models keeps growing, which dilutes the tipping crowd. Last night when I was on CB there were 58 pages of female models.
March has always been one of those month, where it starts to pick up towards the end of the month for me, while the first half felt a lot slower than i expected every year after February felt like hell.
I do understand those worried feels, but between tax season and spring break march is one of those iffy month every year for me.

Dec, Jan and Feb were really great for me... ( I was also heavily pregnant and those buyers who like pregnant content go crazy for it) now I am not pregnant, and its a slow trickle of people buying my pregnancy/alien impregnation content... nothing else I have been making has been selling...I will be okay, I have other sources of income and some savings... but I haven't seen buying traffic this slow ever (for everyone else... me this is my normal

Indeed, the total income for all the cam models on all platforms is going down month by month and the reason for that is the rising cost of living around the world. You can monitor the total income for some camsites on statbate.com.
Unfortunately, it's only going to be worse and worse. When US stock market that is still in bubble finally bursts and US Dollar's value skyrockets in effect, Europeans might stop buying tokens as they simply won't afford that. The recession that is ahead of us will be very painful, as never in history have the central banks printed so much money in such a short period of time (Covid).
There are less tips available now and more new models are signing up everyday. Moreover, "old" models are now spending more time online that causes new ones to make it harder to be spotted and have a decent number of viewers.
Best way to survive the current crisis is to build a strong community of people who will be coming to your room regularly to hang out with you and others. It may take a few months though. People love interacting with models, especially that most of them (viewers) are lonely. Keep your tippers close and make friends with them. Give them your Snapchat, Telegram or whatever they have and chat with them in your free time. Smile a lot. Be kind. These people will keep coming back to you to drop a few tokens to support you. Token to token can make a nice amount at the end. Really.

● Keep your goals small. 500 tokens to 1000, so a single tipper could afford to reach your goal.
● Chat with your tippers when you're offline

BUT.... only if they are paying for your time! No one needs to work for free - and entertaining your clients on your free time gets very consuming, very quickly.
Theres a fine line between giving your special clients a little extra, versus giving your time away for free for every Tom, Dick and Harry who once upon a time tipped for a flash.
I agree. I had those best / regular supporters in mind. People you see a lot in chat and they help you achieve your goals. Keep them close so they continue to drop some tokens each time they see you.
I agree with you. I was a stripper from 2008-2009 then entered the camming industry in 2010. Any viewer will tell you that giving away a lot of free time just to chat is what helps. Sometimes they take it too far and want to take our whole arm. I used to be like that. But after a while they do they advantage of it and you are left with just people that will insult you because you don't want to give them the attention for free. We have lives and dependents to provide for and take care of and other commitments and those customers need to be appreciative also of our time. It's not our fault that they can't afford our shows. If they can't, best it's not to waste our time. I don't let them anymore. I'm not going to sacrifice myself like that just because right now the viewers can't afford us. Obviously the culprit here is the cost of living. We have to look now into expanding our diversification with streams of income. I already have. If I didn't I would be homeless now. This used to be my only stream of income though until last year.

This definitely. They may come for the nakedness, but in the end, what makes them stay is the interaction. I left many a room cause the model wasn't talking. I don't care communicating with a model outside of the camsite, but a free picture or video sent by snap is always highly appreciated. The fact she took the time to make and send it in her free time makes me feel liked by the model and creates a kind of attachment. I'm sad to read that some people take this for granted, but for me, it always feels special.

What if the model sends it unsolicited? As in I didn't ask or tip for it, but she sends it on her own volition (especially if it's off-site).
I sent a "free" video after my one month anniversary on OF as a thank you to everyone who subscribed and supported it and not a single one of them have tipped for anything since. To me, that was a costly mistake. I admit I don't have a huge following there but the message was clear. I have sent people a video of their requested action while live on cam, recorded it and sent as a free message, as a one-off and that was received well but also have not seen that member in almost a month after sending it to them, they got what they wanted and haven't been back.
That stinks, yeah sounds like your audience is not the same that are receptive to that stuff. I'm talking about the kind of people who visit/tip time after time on live streams and tip multiple times on OF/elsewhere, and actually chat with ya... people that have already shown to show interest in interacting with you outside of "just purchasing stuff" (or subbing on OF).
I have been told to back off the connection, told my Peach posts were too explicit and all in the same breath been told to writhe like an electrocuted fish.
I connect with people too much that they have convinced themselves I'm not working and don't need to be tipped.

Honestly - following others advice (i know you asked me for some and I gave it) is only helpful in so far as you are able to look at it critically and decide which bits fit you and your situation, and which bits don't.
I Used to cam as a highly social model on mfc.. for a decade. I gave freebies to members a lot. And it worked really well for me, i worked really hard but my room was mostly full, i had a loyal group of dudes and it felt fun. It felt that way because it would all even out. I might give out a few freebies but at the end of the month i looked at my bank and felt i got paid well.
Eventually, my lack of boundries around those connections meant I burnt out. The social method takes strong personal boundries. I get the frustrstion you have with people feeling entitled to your time without payment. I was right there w u.
The best way for me now is less connection, much more transactional. Connecting happens on paid time only, so there's no fuzzy lines. I'm actively cultivating a fanbase that gets that.
What works for me now didn't work for me before. I have made a lot of succesful friends in this industry and many other forms of sex work and for all of them they had to try various methods on for size until they found the one, the unique way of doing things that worked for them. And they had to adapt when they, or their situation changed.
I still try and soak up advice. My therapist is a successful active sex worker, i hang out with pro dommes, i listen to sw podcasts, i follow ppl like sexworkceo, swsurvivalguide, etc but i only take what works. Sw ceo has an interesting pricing model for her OF - i don't do that. It's not for me. But i did change how i wrote my OF posts based on her suggestion and it's done well! Because i know my audience and what works.
This got rambly but i guess basically to say following advice is helpful when you know your own audience, and your own self well. There are so so many different ways to do this work.
Oh so much this! For lack of a better word, I'm in a molting stage. I'm growing in different directions and trying new things and a different set of boundaries and it's painful at times and other times it's glorious. I had five re-subs on OF yesterday after I posted here.
I have a tendency to talk myself out of posting content. The other side is when I do post it is always more successful than anticipated. I'm very new on OF so there's still a ton of stuff to learn and some habits to unlearn.
Without this place and all of you, going through these changes probably would have killed any spirit I had left to try. The encouragement and support is genuinely appreciated.
If I can give my 2 cents as a user I would say you need to give constant exposure without handing out too much in the way of freebies.

I think once you find something that makes you stand out or that you enjoy then lean on it heavily. There's not point being a jack of all trades as there's too much competition. Once you've found something you enjoy run with it and promote endlessly and everywhere!
If you're not active or atleast consistent you'll get lost. You want to be everywhere or even collab with other models! It sounds shameless but you have to believe you're the best and show everyone else no one will take notice.
