Hello lovelies!

So, I am about to be taking big steps with this and putting in all the work I can as it is about to be my full time job - exciting I know!

One of the takeaways I have gotten, is to keep your momentum with your "NEW" feature when you start your account, promote yourself and build your following, so that being said I want to be able to promote myself and have a bit of a build up for the small following I plan to gain for when I go live. Ive seen that Instagram is pretty negative towards the sex work industry, and seen others mention Snapchat, Tumblr, FetLife, Kik, Twitter, etc. So I am wondering where the recommended places to promote myself are that wont constantly get flagged or band for nudity ( obviously not full nude in this context, but very sexually suggestive ) ?

I have been doing endless hours of reading both here and anywhere else I can catch a breeze of what seems to be honest advice from experience.
I thought I was getting a pretty good grip on what different sites offered, how different sites worked, and what seemed to be the most liked or most popular by creators, when all of a sudden I find a review site for cam sites, and start seeing a multitude of bad reviews for Chaturbate- which I thought was a favorite, Cam4, and positive reviews for myfreecams, which I thought I saw the most negative response for. What are the deal breakers for the different sites so to speak that a newb should know for having the best chance at choosing the one that will be a right fit ?

Then another curve ball, boleynmodels ... can someone summarize what this is without my feeling like your just selling to recruit me? Is this mlm but for camming.. ? Is it actually a really smart idea and take alot of work off the model so that I can enjoy camming ?

TLDR;
- if you were just starting, and trying to decide what site(s) you would promote yourself before going live and camming, what social media platforms would it be and why if you can?
- what are the deal breakers for the different camming sites so to speak that a newb should know for having the best chance at choosing the one that will be a right fit ?
- boleynmodels ... MLM? Smart Efficient Idea that Helps Models? Something else entirely?

Any and all input is beyond appreciated!
Looking forward to taking some major steps into this exciting journey.

I only promote myself on Twitter and through selling clips on clipsites (clips4sale, manyvids.com, modelhub, iwantclips.com), and on Pornhub, and Onlyfans. Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I think Twitter is the most friendly. It's important there is no nudity in your Twitter profile pic, or background header though. And it is very important that you go into Twitter settings and make sure your account is tagged as having "sensitive content" (Settings > Privacy and Safety > Your Tweets > Mark media you tweet as having material that might be sensitive). If you do these 2 things, Twitter is pretty friendly.

My advice would be to figure out what suits your personality best first off. Token sites or premium sites (where there are more privates). Because your approach and persona on a token site like CB or MFC would be way different that the most effective persona for a premium site like SM (streamate). If you are not sure I would give one token site a try and a premium site a try too, so you can alternate and figure out which one you like best (1st off the bat). Maybe you will like both, who knows. There is a lot more to say, but I'm sure others will add a lot to this thread.

Welcome and good luck.
Starting by joining ACF is a really wise choice, I didn't, and could have learned so much, and had so much more support in the beginning had I thought to 💙

Twitter is the safest, you just have to build a following first. I'll link below a helpful thread for doing so in a productive way.
seeing a multitude of bad reviews for Chaturbate- which I thought was a favorite
Chaturbate is FAST to ban for any little infraction, before verifying you actually did anything wrong. Users can report you if you make them unhappy, and CB just bans first, and asks questions (not really, unless you pester them in support mails) later. But they have a forgiving algorithm for showing up on their main pages, so all you have to do is get a large audience to move up on the main page, even if you aren't earning money.
positive reviews for myfreecams, which I thought I saw the most negative response for
MyFreeCams was the original "token site" way before CB was even conceived. They allow a TON of freedom for what you can do in your chat, and have a built-in content selling platform that integrates tokens earned on content into your live cam shows, if you so choose (there is a lot of customization on this.) Some models constantly bitch about the fact that "traffic" is slowing there, but the ultimate fact is that the site is growing exponentially, mostly with other models, so the member pool is thinned. And also the camscore issue (what moves you up on the front page) being hard to keep up with, as it requires you to consistently make tokens while you're broadcasting to maintain the score.
Don't bother.
boleynmodels ... can someone summarize what this is without my feeling like your just selling to recruit me? Is this mlm but for camming.. ? Is it actually a really smart idea and take alot of work off the model so that I can enjoy camming ?
boleyn is a studio. Don't sign up through them unless you want to give up a small % of your earnings in order to use their very limited services.

And one last note: if you want to do more private-based shows, streamate is the place to be. There are a lot of successful SM models here at the forum, hopefully they can chime in with some tips!

if you were just starting, and trying to decide what site(s) you would promote yourself before going live and camming, what social media platforms would it be and why if you can?

Even though Twitter does sometimes shadowban people in the adult industry, it is still a good place to advertise yourself. Nudity won't get your account deleted/banned on there. NSFW subreddits on Reddit can also be a great place to advertise yourself. Just make sure you know whatever the subreddit's rules for posting/advertising are. Whenever you post pictures to promote yourself, make sure they have your watermark on them.

Also, even though this isn't exactly what you asked, I do want to say that I really recommend having content made before you go live. If you decide to stream on MFC, you can upload your videos to MFC Share before you do your first stream and that should definitely get you some more tips. Sites like ManyVids, iWantClips and Clips4Sale are good places to post your content as well. All three sites have great internal traffic, so you don't even need to promote yourself to get sales. And, if you post your Twitter link (you should be able to post your Twitter handle on all three sites, but I'm not 100% since they keep changing the damn rules lately), you can get more Twitter followers that way which will then let those clip customer guys know where you cam at and when you go live.

what are the deal breakers for the different camming sites so to speak that a newb should know for having the best chance at choosing the one that will be a right fit ?

This all depends on you and what kind of show you are looking to do.

MyFreecams is more community focused than pretty much any other camsite. You can do well doing public shows on there and you can also do well with focusing on private shows, or doing a mix of the two. The great thing about doing private shows on MFC, compared to CB, is that the private rates are fixed. 60 tokens per minute for regular privates with the potential to make more off of spies, who pay 20 tokens per minute (but can only watch, not chat) and 80 tokens per minute for true privates. On Chaturbate, models can chose their private rates, which can lead to members trying to lowball you on privates. Models who focus on getting to know their members, building a community around their room and with their followers, and chat with their members offline, generally do well. However, not everyone likes doing this and it can end up burning you out or leaving you emotionally exhausted. The biggest potential downside to MFC is the camscore. Your camscore is based off of how many tokens per hour you've made over the last 60 (I think, it's been awhile for me, might be 90) days. It affects your placement on the homepage and if you're sitting in your room for hours not making any money, you will be basically "penalized" and show up lower on the homepage, limiting your exposure to potential paying members.

Chaturbate is more focused on large, public shows. More explicit public shows generally do well on there, since your placement on the homepage is based off of how many viewers you have (I'm sure there's more to the algorithm, but I believe viewers is a huge factor). Unlike MFC, you're not "penalized" for just chilling online and not making any money. Models can definitely make money off private shows, ticket shows and non-explicit public shows on there, but public cum shows seem to be the biggest bread winners out there. The community vibe can be there in certain rooms, but it's not as big as it is on MFC. They're also the most ban happy of all the sites I've seen. They've been known to ban users for even just looking too young, even though they have your id on file with them. So, if you do use CB, just make sure to cash out your earnings and don't leave a huge amount of tokens just sitting in your account.

Stripchat is another token based site. I'm not familiar at all with Stripchat, but I know it's getting more popular. There's models on here who cam there, and maybe they can chime in on how Stripchat is like. Or, there should be some public threads on this forum about it.

Streamate is one of the most popular private based sites. There's no bottom nudity/masturbation allowed in public, so any sort of cumshow would be behind a paywall of sorts. The members on there are more about getting a show, getting off and then logging off. It's not about talking and maintaining friendships like on MFC, so once you log off for the day, that's it, you're done with work. One of the downsides to Streamate is that the percentage that model's make from gold/private shows is a lot lower than any other site. But, they have pretty steady paying traffic, so it makes up for the low percentage for some people.

I can't comment on any other private based site, because the other ones I've heard about, like LiveJasmine, have some really bad reputations amongst models.

There's people who say that MFC is not the best place to start out on for new models, because of the cam score and the potential to mess it up if you don't know what you're doing in the beginning. But, I started off on there and I did fine. If you have content on MFC Share and use your new model status right, you should be fine.

boleynmodels ... MLM? Smart Efficient Idea that Helps Models? Something else entirely?

BoleyModels is an online studio. No, they're not an MLM. The only real reason you're going to want to use BoleynModels is if you're on a site that doesn't have daily payout and you are in a situation where you need to be paid out on a daily basis and don't mind losing the slight percentage they take out in return for getting paid out almost every day. They also do income verification, which is useful if you're trying to get an apartment or something of that sort. If you've been on there long enough and qualify, I believe they also do money advances, so if there's ever an emergency and you need funds, they'll advance it for you.

I've been using BM for Clips4Sale for at least two years now, since C4S only does payouts once a month. They're a legit company and I personally haven't had any issues with them. They deposit your earnings into your bank account every weekday, excluding bank holidays. You don't need to do all your accounts through them, if you do decide to use them. They're not like other online studios, who own your cam model name and accounts.

However, MFC (and I think CB, as well) offer early payouts, where you can request your earnings whenever, as long as you made over a certain amount. So, BM wouldn't be necessary for sites like that, unless you absolutely have to have your earnings deposited every single weekday.

Streamate is one of the most popular private based sites. There's no bottom nudity/masturbation allowed in public, so any sort of cumshow would be behind a paywall of sorts. Unless you are approved for GOLD shows and run your room in a certain way. I get a lot of offline messaging and bookings from my regs, as well as clip sales. So you actually can make SM more of a community place, and get a community feel going for your shows. Especially with all the new GOLD public chat tip features. Doing it that way does take more energy though, but can be really fun if you are a chatty, social, extroverted person.

Streamate models get 35% of their per minute rate. So mine is $6.99, which means I get 35% of 6.99 for private shows per minute.

You can sell clips on SM though, and I believe the payout for those is actually 60%. I sell a lot of clips there. GOLD or tips are also only 35% though 😭 .

They are also rolling out a new social media feed, and have been working on a lot of new features.

The major plus to SM for me has always been traffic. I can be really irregular in my schedule, as in even take months off, then log in and make bank in one single night. If you run your room in a more community oriented way though, as I've been doing recently, you really have to keep a more consistent schedule, or your regs will DM you nightly asking you where you are. However the advantage of that is that they will pre book shows, and thus you will have your own traffic when you do log on, if it's a quiet night when other models are not that busy. So there are some real advantages to running your SM room a bit more tokeny, that I've only been learning this last year. It also really helps stave off boredom in free chat.

After a few weeks you get approved for GOLD shows, which means you can do group shows with as many members who join, and pledge toward your goal. There are a whole group of people who just use the site mainly for that, because the privates are outside of their budget. They can actually be surprisingly loyal and consistent too. However, unlike a token site I've never had 100s in my group show. Usually around 10, sometimes as many as 20 or 30, and sometimes as few as 3 (who all just tipped big to make the goal). Whereas on MFC I did a show which had hundreds of people in it.

On SM you are allowed to show ass cheeks etc in public, but nothing more intimate from the bottom. You are also not allowed to advertise your Onlyfans, or Clipsites. Even mentioning them via DM or in chat w one of their Members can get you warned, suspended, or even banned.

ETA; Marceline is right though, most models do not run their room that way on SM, and it generally has more of a waiting room vibe, unless you consciously put the effort into changing that, and growing something else. Which you do have the freedom to do, if you are an easily bored, chatty nutcase like me. It seems to have worked out well though :)

Seriously so much thanks to you and everyone else thats taken the time to break this down for me. You're all full of invaluable knowledge that I would be lost without right now.

I really am tempted to start with BM right off the bat, but I worry about not having enough of a following right off the bat so my lowest daily earnings that they go off of is virtually nothing.

I've only been awake an hour and feel like I've made some major decisions in regards of where to start, so truly thank you ladies.

So excited to start gathering equipment and creating content!
SM & MFC & PH here I come :D

As for promoting yourself on socials...you CAN still do this, you just have to be mindful of what you're promoting on what platform.

For example, on Instagram, I do a lot of beauty - wellness posts because that's shit that I like to talk about. I break down, for example, my fitness routine. Then I'll ask people a question or to comment for engagement. At the BOTTOM of that post, I'll say something like "Unlock my private fan-exclusive content...click my link to join me." (That's for my Onlyfans, referring to my Onlyfans link that's buried in my Instagram profile using a Linktree link page - you can Google this.).

The posts I do are fully clothed and sometimes I'll do lingerie/bikini. With the lingerie/bikini pics, you have to be VERY careful to NOT mention anything about clicking your bio link. Just write something about you, your life...really whatever you're feeling...just NOT sexual.

I post on my Instagram story similar content. I'll say "Click my link to join me" and then I'll find a sticker on instagram that says "Link in bio" along with a photo of a fan. The fans KNOW what this means.

Don't mention "Webcam" "Cam" etc on Instagram...really think like an "Influencer" would rather than an adult entertainer.

You can say something like 'I'm LIVE now online!" in your Instagram story and say something like "Follow my on Twitter to find out where". Be cryptic with it. Because, unfortunately as you mentioned, it is 100% true that Instagram has "flags" on the profiles of adult models. I know girls who have had their accounts deleted with millions of followers for saying stuff as simple as "Come see me on Onlyfans!" wearing a bikini. It's BAD. But, it's still doable if you're mindful.

I think it's STILL good to be active on platforms like Instagram, Facebook and TikTok because that's how fans can get to know YOU as a human, which ultimately they become attached to and they'll want to search for you and find out where else they can find you.

As for promoting your live cam shows, I would recommend Twitter. You'll likely get shadowbanned (people can't find you if they search your name) but still...posting a short video clips (simple as a booty shake) with "I'm LIVE on ______ site! Come join me." Video gets a lot more interaction than pictures, and both get more interaction than just text.

As for what site to cam on...I got my start on My Free Cams which I loved because when I was on at the time in 2012 the profile was a blank slate and you could REALLY customize it to your liking. I don't cam anymore but for new models I also recommend CamSoda. They're super active with promoting their shows/models, they have good model customer service and a ton of automatic add-ons that make it super easy to broadcast and focus on your cam show (stuff like a prize wheel, slot machine etc).

Hope this helps :h:

YES content is everything!! DEFINITELY make videos because you make them once, upload and you can sell them for literally ever. It's easy passive income :)

Thats a tremendous help, especially when it comes to social platforms. I may be 24, but Im about as social media savvy as if I was 50.
Now to do some editing of my insta.. LOL.
