"The section of the library where she performed sex acts on camera has since been steam cleaned."

and this in the commemts made me think:

"I can't help but think a male student would be stuck on some sort of register, rather than being given counselling."

Yeah I think she is incredibly lucky to be offered counselling instead of expulsion. Also I imagine it's going to make keeping her identity a secret that little bit harder :?

Definitely a double standard, but probably one of the very few that works in the favour of women.

And I know it's not funny but the thought of them steam cleaning the library after her show did make me do a lol :shifty:

Lucky for her she is in the UK and not in the US ...
I think she is from Australia actually. It's just that the Daily Mail adores scandalous stories regardless of the country of origin.

Posted this yesterday in one of the Models only sections. There were a few statements in this article that made me facepalm. I felt the main focus of this article was to degrade women in the camming industry to be honest. I felt they focused on what they believe to be an industry "luring" desperate and financially struggling women into its grasp.

This article especially:

http://www.theherald.com.au/story/2703416/live-sex-show-in-library-shocks-uni/?cs=303

"It comes as financially desperate Newcastle students are reportedly resorting to using a number of informal online sex outlets to make ends meet." quote from The Herald article.

It just blows my mind that people cannot seem to grasp the concept that women actually choose to do this because they enjoy it. Instead they choose the option to believe we are somehow left with no other options.

I work a day job Mon-Fri and I choose to keep camming part time. Could I go do something else part time (that doesn't have internet trolls and nights with no pay) yes, but I choose camming because I like it and the people who make my time being apart of cam land something to enjoy.

Side note: I also thought the steam cleaning tid bit was funny I laughed I cannot deny it. I mean if she was a squirter I can understand the need. It can get messy.

And yes she is in Australia a friend of mine is at the same University where this happened.

Well I hate to be the one to say it, but so long as cam girls are doing private things in public places (and getting caught), mainstream sort of minds are not going to think very highly of cam girls in general.

Oops, I think the same luck applies :)

Well, that article did include that opinion as well:
"Clare Swan, the president of the Newcastle University Students Association, said it was important to note that many students weren’t ‘‘forced’’ into sex work, but chose the profession." .

But the fact that this quote is put in the article after a lot of unrelated things that shouldn't even be there (such as the comments from a "site user" that hints some of the models also do escorting gigs) does seem to be one of those "we need to pretend to be impartial, so let's put this here" paragraphs..

And it's not surprising that they tried to push more the 'women are forced into the business' point of view - while sex work is legal in Australia, AFAIK it's still stigmatized as in the US and UK.

You are absolutely right Amber. That goes for any profession really. It is like oh a few of you do something "bad"/bad tough shit because the population as a whole is lazy and stereotyping is much easier.
