Hi everyone,
My question I'm trying to ask: how much of camming y'all think is 'hard work' vs 'looking attractive'?

By hard work, I mean things like marketing, keeping the room entertaining, interacting with the room members/tippers, or even getting your typing up to 120+ WPM to deal with the onslaught of PMs :giggle:, For purposes of the question, I'm also throwing in personality as 'hard work' with the presumption that it takes effort to show off one's personality. By looking attractive, I mean mostly the way someone naturally looks (i.e. aesthetic, maybe ideally curvy for the vast majority) but I imagine makeup/style also plays a role, so I didn't want to leave it purely as genetics or whatnot. Also, yes, I know looks are subjective, but I'm talking about looking attractive in terms of the majority, since there are popular trends/characteristics.

The reason why I ask is (not to sound disparaging or anything, but) I know hard work can be easily adjusted, but looking attractive is something that is arguably more limited. I've heard it said on the forum before that being naturally attractive gives a model a 'semi-free pass,' but I wanted to ask all of y'all how much of a 'free pass' (if any) y'all think looks really give.

As usual, I figure there is probably no truly right / wrong opinion on this. I'm just curious to hear everyone's insights on this! 🙂

Extra questions to give some food for thought:
- If someone isn't maybe naturally attractive but puts in lots of hard work, do you think they'll be able to be more successful than a very attractive person who does little in front of camera?
- Are there limitations to success simply based on how one looks? Or how one acts? (i.e. "You can never be a top model on a site if you don't have ________.")

Thanks for your responses!

A misguided or effortless pornstar looking girl (subjective but you mentioned majority) will fail as much as the others making no efforr. I like to see succes as a sum of a lot of factors. Some factors weighing in more/heavier than others.

Being hot in terms of the majority is just a headstart i believe personally and probably a benefit in the long run. As with any profession where something you're born with or without matters

But then again this changes in terms of which platform. Not everyone is just looking for a hot looking girl

Firstly this very much depends on what you determine to be "successful".

If we count it as making a living off camming, then personality is far more important than conventional looks.

If we count it as top #100 models, then you do need both.

Finally you can look exactly like a "conventional pornstar" but if you're as engaging as a brick you simply won't do very well.

By your definition of hardwork I would say 85% hard work, 15% looking attractive. You can be a successful model without being attractive to the majority but failing at your definition of "hard work" can be brutal. When I say successful model I mean income wise i'm not saying they going to fly to top of page 1 on hard work alone and have 10000 people in their room. One of the most attractive models I know of on CB (well in my opinion of course) can currently be found at position 2215 of the featured list, 1 colored name in the room, rest are greys and anonymous, how? ignoring the room the vast majority of time will do that to a model. She will do what you tip for but thats really about it.

Edit: oh sorry I basically just repeated what aussiecosplay said xD some how missed that post when I was responding.

Hi,
I am helping a few models on CB, so i see who comes in and who goes out and in what tempo. One of them does not do any show, sh's waiting for the tips, the other makes an effort to put on a show and entertains her viewers talking it all together. In my opinion both are even attractive but the first one has much more in/outs than the second one, why is that? Being attractive is such a relative concept it's hard to make a comparison with.

Having the looks makes people entering the room, that I'm sure, but It doesn't keep the viewers on the long term if you turn out to be a sitting bag. Personality on the other hand is what makes users coming back. If you have both than you are in luck. The fact of having a fully qualified show is nice but doesn't contribute much for the success in the beginning (first month, oc my opinion). So on the question: naturally attractive gives a model a 'semi-free pass,' I say yes, definitely.

Putting in some work for entertaining the room is necessary to keep your users, I agree. Users get bored when you do the same thing every show. But I can imagine that there are many users who come back to the room just to have a look at that pretty face, even if you are doing nothing. I think it all depends on what the users are looking for at that moment. On the question hard work less attractive - attractive but sitting bag, I say hard work, less attractive wins on the long term.

Success is by definition: The accomplishment of an aim or purpose. By looking great you don't accomplish anything. Succes is a verb. does i have limits, yes but the limit is yourself.

in my opinion if you have them all u can be sucessfull for sure .. Good looking, good personality, smart, fun, hard work will make you a succesfull cammodel .

thats right, im also watching sometimes gorgeous girls on last pages on cb.,, and i see that they deserve to stay there .. people trying hard to have a conversation with them but they are either on the phone either to busy for the room or to princess to say hi to them .. they answer only if someone tip, this is really stupid and rude ..

Exactly. I think there are too many beautiful women who think it's a clear cut "I am sexy and all guys will flock to me to see me". And also those same women tend to have the mentality of "guys owe them" because they are so beautiful. When we all know this is not how it works at all

luck is the biggest factor. there are so many attractive models that try to do all the right things and put in all the time but make zilch.
some got luck too thats right but mostly work hard for their luck to make it ;) . I have an example of luck, there was a famous model on cb , famous of beeing lucky, she was very pretty , sitting there all day looking at telenovelas with high volume :) and she had a bigg tipper tipping her daily minimum 10000 tk up to 100k , she took eyes of telenovelas only at his tips to type thanks richard ;)) then back to tv till he tipped again, like this 1 year or more every day :)) this is luck but the rest is hard work , even models who does lots working hard for them ..

In my opinion it isn’t about being attractive as much as it is about having a distinctive look. You can be boring pretty Sally and nobody will tell you apart from boring pretty Emma who looks and dresses just like you. In a way... prettiness is a problem because everyone is pretty in the same way while there are as many different kinds of ugly as ugly people out there. You can have a hook nose, or be cross eyed, have lopsided tits and be missing a tooth. Each ugly is different and memorable. Ideally as a camgirl you are a mix of both... pretty enough to be bangable, ugly enough to be memorable. Like perfumes. No expensive perfume is only floral notes. That’s Victoria secret body lotions. Expensive perfume has a wrong note in the mix... a lovely scent but man, there’s something in there that kind of reminds you of rotten fruit. That’s what makes you want a second sniff and what makes the scent linger in your mind for a long time. Same thing with camgirls. It’s better to be rated a 10 by half the audience and a 1 by the other half than be rated 5 by everyone. In both cases you average a 5 in looks but the first model will be super successful while the second one will struggle. Hell I would argue it’s better to be the first model than to be a model everyone rated a 10. Because while the 10 is much hotter, her audience knows she is universally attractive and she will seem distant and unattainable from the get go even if her personality isn’t. The model who is polarising has a crowd rating her 10 who know she isn’t conventionally attractive and it makes her look like someone they could have a shot with, someone who won’t judge them.
Now I am sure the more successful a model feels the harder she will argue for the skill and personality theory, and the more a model fails the more she will be drawn to the attractiveness side of the debate, that’s how it works, people want their successes to be accomplishments and their failures to be accidents. I personally think it’s a lot about luck and commitment.

yes hard work is a factor but there are plenty of models out there who put next to no work or hours (me now) and luck out by banking.

As a member, this is how I see it. If model A is somewhat good looking but has some interesting features like a large nose, or a large birthmark, or maybe has a weird boob alignment, I will definitely spend time in her room if she has a great personality. Now if model B is very attractive in a traditional societal standard and has just as good of a personality as model A, then I'll choose model B every single time. I'll spend much more money on model B too. In both cases personality is very important. Looks are the cherry on top and what will be the driving factor when deciding on personalities of equal comparison.

I think the first step is turning on the cam. having the confidence in yourself is important rather than overthinking what others might say when you are in front of the camera. there will always be haters but they are not the important ones in your room, its those who support you should matter.

The "hard work" you put in will probably be consistant being on cam and what you do or don't do once the camera is on.

Being attractive, well that goes with the saying it depends on the "eye for the beholder" ...Once you turn that cam on, you will see people in and out of your room, many will be rude, but being resilience and positive you'll start seing those regulars and supportive of who you are..... but that's just my opinion.

(im joking btw)

I'm def not a 10 in looks but I do fine and was in the top 100 on one of the main sites. I do way better when I'm confident. You might get lucky on looks for a little bit when new but it won't last. Find your niche, workout so you feel confident, work your best angles and WORK. There's a lid for every pot when it comes to aesthetics. Looks might open the door but it won't make them stay.

cb hard work vs looking attractive?
Well attractive people usually put a lot of hard work into looking attractive. Working out, skincare, style, etc. when I am looking/feeling my best I do better. If I feel like I hate my outfit or my hair, and it’s really bothering me it will affect my show for sure and I’ll just log off change my outfit, have a little break and try again.
However being ‘hot’ comes with a lot of downside too. People will judge you based off of your looks and assume things like I’m stupid, shallow, or have no personality. That always comes from people who have made no effort to get to know me. Nonetheless I don’t need everyone to like me or accept me to be successful.

Haha the first step, turning on the cam. I still get nervous 😩 to this day lol

Hey now let’s not call other models stupid and rude. I’m sure she is just trying to give a good show and she may have her own reasons for doing what she wants. The problem with CB is too many models judging what other models do because it looks so easy for them but no one really knows what going on there besides that model and her audience.

when i was working to open my cb studio, was looking for some rpetty girls on last pages , maybe to colaborate. Took me 2 hours trying and chatting to get a hello back , me or to anyone from those few users.. nothing .. they busy on phone, or looking at chat but ignoring it .. only if someone tipping they answer back . so after tried a lot to get a hello back, i finilly tips after long time she left her messanger or what she was busy with .r and she answer few words telling me to tip for pm .... but for 1, 2 h ignoring room completly , checking chat only if she hear tips .. thats why i said this is rude way and they deserve it to be there , even those 10 users been completly ignored all the time on .

As a user you sometimes run into these, and it's puzzling why they sign up to be on cam entertaining people but still look like they neither want to be there nor are particularly thrilled by having someone look at them.
I always make up an excuse on their behalf (shitty day, other pressing matters, earned 100000 tokens yesterday, practicing their ignore fetish, brilliant hustle idea gone horribly wrong etc.) and leave.

But we all have that colleague, who simply think they have better things to do on the job than ... you know ... work.

I don't cam enough to place top anything, but I average about $150/hr. That to me is successful enough. I wouldn't consider myself as hot as some of the top girls, who are generally younger or have had some beauty treatments done. But my audience loves women my age who are natural, so what's important is having a good sense of who you are marketing to.

I also think the more money you have, the more you will make, because you'll be updating the quality of your products, whether that's technology, the space, your wardrobe, your beauty regimens, content, and on and on.

In terms of personality, I've seen top models who don't even talk or acknowledge people. They just show up naked. So I don't place much on personality as much as I do presence on cam. Unless you are being offensive or outright bitchy on cam, I dont think personality comes into play most of the time. In fact, some girls flat out fued and cause drama in order to stay on top and people's totally buy into it.

For me, lighting, angles, and environment drastically change my earnings. I've also noticed that I make more money when I consistently work out and look leaner. I experienced an obvious decline in earnings when I dyed my hair pink once. I also make more when I have a bush than I do when I shave it. I make more when I wear contacts than glasses. I make less when I am sitting than I do when I am standing. On and on, it really is that finicky. For me, it's more about the physical because it is what is in my control. Personality wise, I'm a bit socially awkward and quiet and I think that makes me approachable and helps, but considering I cam during the day where most people are watching me on mute while they work from home...again, it just doesn't matter all that much.

Sorry for my english.
I personally dont like this "hello" thing. If there is any business offer, it should be out off the public chat - on social media, email etc. Users started use this "hi" because in many cases ,they want to start their harrasing or other bullshit. I have experienced many times, when i responded and they just make you look like an idiot in your own room. If user is seriously interested about the model, one token tip shows appreciation and it is not a big deal. Im not going to answer on every hi (300 times per shift) ..I agree, that every model has a reason why she run her show in certain way.And i also dont like, when models call each other stupid or rude. Why not be tolerant to each other...
Back to topic- it looks, like it it automatically expected, that attractive = bad personality. So maybe being attractive is not such a advantage. Some guys feel less relaxed around attractive girls. Attractive girls are judged much more. I believe that main and most important factor is "hard work"...Every product has a buyer..The more you work, the more you collecting. If user looking for personality,he would probably prefer less attractive girl. If he is looking for something explicit ,attractive girls have a power of first impression and if they dont show their personality (no matter if good,or bad) they bank maybe a little more. There are always exceptions. It is just my personal impression. It is interesting and more complexed topic.

first of all had no time to say something about busness.. i was trying to say hi how are you . can i ask u something/ for 1 h.. also some other guys talking and beeing ignored so yes, is all about hard work, if you invest in your room, pay attention to everyone, you nice and sweet , you can do good, but with this atitudide ignoring room and answering only to those who tip , isnt nice, plus if you saw the topic with the guy that paied for 10 min pvt , she agree to masturbate ,. then in pvt she completly ignored him for 5 min she was busy typing on another site, after 5min she took bra off and told him i cant masturbate im on period,, well this kind of atitude i espect from this models ignoring people talking only paied . But lets leave it this way, all the models are doing best job, some just got no luck . thats why they are on last pages and cant have more then 5 users in the room , not becouse they are ignoring everyone and dont care about anything . About people saying hi , ohh yes i say hi to every single guest, grey, red, blue etc if they come and are polite, i dont expect a hi only in a tip , in my opinion this is biggest mistake to ignore grey or people without tks at that moment , just responding to paying people. Dont forget girls that every single tipper was a grey , my highest tipper and spender , told me that he was watching my room as a grey for 3 months , then he started to like my atitude, my personality, etc and he decided to buy tks, after that 4 y he spent a lot and gaved me 2 of highest single tips on the site.. BtW do u know that chaturbate for like few months had no option to receve tips when they started? :) girls been online just talking to people and making new friends ;) after cb add this tip option all this grey friends became the tippers and all those girls beeing nice had to win,,,

Beeing nice with your room guess is one of the most important . I was watching last night an american lady on stripchat, years ago she used to do great on cb too but she disspear , now i saw her on stripchat popular . She gives me hopes that even after age 50 can be a succesfull cammodel . Its all about her atitude, and i like to watch american models , can only learn from them becouse for them is natural the way they talk, they dont need to force themself to talk to people. Shes so much fun listening , the way she entertain her room , talking and making people wanna stay, was hard for me to go but for guys.. Guess is in like every job, if you are nice with customers you keep the job even beeing promoted, if you are not and ignoring them you lose the job or you quit alone .
