It's nothing new. Streamate affiliates have done this for years. They'll even go so far as to have a bot with our image "chat" with users, it's annoying.

This is pretty common @Guy. I've seen my photo on a few banner ads for some sketchy "dating" sites. They weren't photos I'd used on SM, just Tumblr or MGF I think. It's happened to non-camgirls I know that post hot selfies.

Pretty lame if they consider themselves serious dating sites; no wonder we have so many confused men out there.

Every paying member would be entitled to a refund under UK law for this type of deception... not that scam sites earn their money this way.

Like just for using photos in advertising of models that aren't on the site? Or what Saffron was saying where they use a bot to pretend to be that girl?

I think both are scummy (if they're not paying the model) but don't think you should get a refund if it's just that the models in ads aren't on there. But I'm guessing you meant the second part?

Under UK law you are not allowed to even accidentally deceive a customer with fake sales (if the faking is obvious this doesn't apply), automatic refund for the complainant. Not that this is an issue on a scam site, they are actually after information that they can make money off.

I worry more about what it says to men (and women) to send such mixed messages regarding dating and porn. Scams and exploiting others work/ image to sell something will always be around.

Nothing new here. As a camgirl you have to get used to it. You get people all the time
"I TALKED TO YOU ON THIS SITE, REMEMBER ME?"
"I saw your profile on x-dating site."

Hint for cammodels:
You can turn them into customers. I explain to them the ruse and explain it was crappy advertisers who are lazy at their job. I am also SUPER apologetic, cause that was crap. I don't know what conversations they were having with "ME." I explain what the site they are on really is, and invite them to jerk off a little if they are down. Reactions can mix from "FUCK YOU CUNT" "omg thank you so much, you are too kind." "no thank you."

I find it exploitative as fuck to trick lonely men into thinking I want to date/fuck them.

I really need to make my homework on this one. I don't have enough knowledge to refute or support that.
Go and have a few drinks with some white label dating providers, make sure to give them a lot of booze, sit back and listen to them bragging.

Guy, you posted a video that claims AFF is a good site, while they have been sued about using fake advertising and have had a huge data breach! And if you go to the youtube page, there is an affiliate link in the description, so sure, very objective view.

I know for sure that AFF isn't always on the tup and up....so I sort of get what you're getting at Fatquack....but I am ACTUALLY on AFF.

ETA: I'm actually on AFF for personal enjoyment, not cam purposes.

I wasnt trying to recommend AFF. I was trying to show people how to tell if an adult dating site uses fake profiles to trick you.

a porn bot once stole a pic of my ass on yahoo -in like 1999-haha
I didn't know whether to be flattered or pissed.

what was funny was a regular in the chat room I was always in was the one who saw it and when I came into the room he was like..omg..I know where I've seen that ass before! it clicked for him- he pointed out the bot and I reported it-yahoo got rid of the bot.

man I wish I still had that ass

but ya- picture theft is like as old as the net.

How can you tell if an adult dating site is affiliated with Streamate?

I have no idea, I just know that people come into my cam room thinking that they were just talking to me on a hookup site.

Since AFF came up, I have a funny story.
AFF is part of the streamray network (cams.com) there is a model on cams that is supposedly from my state, and AFF uses her picture on one of those "I'm in (town near your IP address)" being from a very rural area, that doesn't work so well because I happen to know everyone in that >100 population town, and she is none of them. Im assuming that system works better in big cities.
