Hey all! I'm not a verified model but I wanted to bring this to the attention of other cam ladies and men. Please let me know if this isn't posted in the correct area or if it's a double thread, I don't come on here a lot but you are all super helpful when I do! Snapchat has recently changed their service to include the following:

7. Safety
You will not post content that contains pornography, graphic violence, threats, hate speech, or incitements to violence.

8. Your Account
You will not buy, sell, rent, or lease access to your Snapchat account, Live, Snaps, a Snapchat username, or a friend link without our written permission.

From: https://www.snapchat.com/terms

This obviously affects the camworkers who are selling their snapchat, which I believe the majority of us do. Just want to give you all a heads up in case your account gets banned. I know they will be losing a lot of business if we can't use this anymore.

I know the rule about selling it has been there for a very very long time, not sure if we'll need to worry too much about getting booted for that unless maybe we are being very blatant or someone reports our username.

Oh okay, I just saw someone mention it on twitter. I definitely don't stop and read the terms before clicking accept!

They DEFINITELY don't care much about the pornography part of rule 7. If I remember correctly the creators made it with the intent of it being a sexting app. So... The intent was definitely pornographic content. lol

As I said to a model yesterday, if it wasn't for the nudes, no one would ever use Snapchat over regular texts. Let's be honest, no one really cares about the normal pics that could just be sent through text or WhatsApp or Kik, or any other texting app, and not be auto deleted after 10 seconds. The entire app was designed around letting people send nudes to each other that did auto delete (and let you know if a screenshot was taken). It let men and women send nudes with a lower chance of them spreading around after breakups and such (lower chance, not no chance).

If not for that, the app would never have taken off. So, if they start cracking down on nudes, expect the app to die very shortly thereafter; and not just from cam models and customers, but from anyone and everyone using it. Porn stars use it for advertising themselves, can models, glamour models, etc. But, honestly, does anyone really think anyone uses the app for stuff that could be sent through other texting apps, as a main texting app?

This sounds more like selling your account, not charging people to be on your friend list/view your snaps on their own account.

It's one thing when the app is created and another when venture capitalists throw a lot of money at it - some VCs might be OK with the adult aspect of the app, but there's still a lot of them that dont like their money being used for anything related to adult content.

Snapchat is in a bit of tight spot - they got a lot of VC money to work on the app and it grew tremendously to a point where their operating costs are huge but they've yet to find a good monetisation story: they get some money from the Discovery feature and from snapcash transactions, but the volume isn't high enough (plus, Snapcash being US only limits the potential for profit), so I wouldn't be surprised to see them 'hunting' adult accounts as a way to reduce the network/storage costs.

It seems a bit hypocritical for an app that got popular for the ease at which underage teenagers could send illegal pictures to each other to say adult porn is icky and they do not want it in their app.

I really do think it's just a matter of the app getting super popular and needing to put in those kind of rules to satisfy investors (like @weirdbr said), payment processors, etc. Like how clip sites will say "no hypnosis, no incest, etc" but you can upload Hypn0sis and as many daddy videos as you want, as long as nobody complains.

Personally I'll still be using my Snapchat (though I don't post much porn on there) and keeping an eye on it. If somehow they shut down my account, I'd probably consider making a second one for non-nude photos that anyone could add, like girls use Instagram for.

Just like Amazon and PayPal though I do think it's presumptuous to assume (as I've seen on Twitter/Tumblr) that this is some ~war on sex workers~. It's a high risk business full of chargebacks and fraud; as annoying as it is to me on a personal level, I get why companies don't want to work with us (especially considering that "adult transactions" as per PayPal can very often include things that are illegal, like escorting in the States).

<-- my two cents :D

I was just banned from snapchat without any warning and I never even post about snapchat on Twitter so this came out of fucking nowhere for me. Don't say they aren't cracking down because I assure you, they are.

It is possible a model who was attacking me all week on Twitter may have reported me, which sucks because she uses snapchat too...what a low blow if it was her.

Worst timing ever for me. My life fucking sucks right now.

Losing "a lot of business" - how...? Lets put some perspective on this - there's over 100 million users of Snapchat daily, with 8,800 photos sent per second.

So define "a lot of business". From memory you pay nothing to use snapchat at all... so what is your "business" worth to them? So overegging the importance of a few people selling their pics via snapchat - meh.
