Ok So what is everyone's thoughts on wigs and costumes? How cumbersome are that? Anyone have a favorite wig brand that can handle basic movement without sliding off?
What do you all like to use, wear, play, and see?

Wigs and costumes are super fun and a really lucrative niche if you cosplay well. The only issue for me, is that cosplays are super expensive. I would do it more if I didn't have to initially shell out $100 - $300 for most good cosplays.

The only company I buy wigs from is ArdaWigs. They're super good quality, and reasonably priced. :)

I am going to go check them out now. I have had some bad luck with wigs even the more expensive ones

I'm pretty lucky with wigs, because I can style them. There are tutorials on how to make your wigs look less "wiggy" with trimming and shampooing. I only wear synthetic wigs but I get the ones that can be curled with a hot iron.

do you recommend any particular youtube tutorial for wig styling?

omg. i love everything about cosplaying! i'm actually cosplaying as sombra from overwatch in about a month from now - super ecstatic about that!

for the actual wigs and/or costumes, i tend to lean towards the arda wigs brand or well known commissioners throughout the cosplay community. i buy face/bodypaint from ben nye or wolfe. i intend on adding a bunch of cosplay during my streams once i stock up my cosplay inventory in the future~!

Cosplaying has always been my main niche, but it's EXPENSIVE. That's why I usually just buy the $10 wigs on Amazon. If I'm already spending $100+ on the rest of the costume, I don't want to spend another ridiculous amount on hair that men aren't even going to be able to notice.

Case in point, a lot of dudes thought THIS was my real hair, and it cost me $10 on Amazon:

I really prefer DIY'ing my own cosplays, but the work is insane, and there's a ton of amazing people you can commission for cosplaying. Especially on Ebay and Etsy. I know Ebay doesn't sound like the place you'd go for cosplay commissions, but I have found some amazing artists that way just by searching for a cosplay.

I made this Yennefer costume from scratch, and I was super proud of it.

All in all, that roughly costed $180.

I really want to get into cosplay, but it is kind of hard for me to get over the being the fat girl and just about literally every character being skinny as heck makes me super self conscious and I don't want to hear "ur 2 fat 5 that" every second lmfao.

But I personally love seeing people cosplay as characters that are 18+ for lewd/porn, or age up the character. (Like for series where the character ages and every season their outfit changes, I think you could get away with changing the outfit and making it super clear that the character is from the future and is over the legal age.)

Seeing people cosplay as underage characters and not stating that the character is over eighteen in their cosplay for lewd/nude purposes makes me uncomfy as heck.

what wig are you wearing in your Yennefer costume?

I love love LOVE wigs!! I wear them almost everyday both on and off cam. They add something different to my show. A good quality synthetic lace front wig (something that will last long, stay on, and look believable) will cost anywhere between $60 - $115. At least in my experience. Some brands that I'm a fan of are Uniwigs(all time favorite), Websterwigs, WigsforGrace, and WigisFashion. A couple of shops I would stay away from would be Everydaywigs and Dream Holic because their wigs either shed an insane amount or tangle....or both! But there are hundreds of wig shops. I would just stay away from any costume shop (PartyCity/Spirit Halloween) wigs. They're cheaper than cheap, thin and really shiny. If you want to go down a least expensive route, you can look for non lace front wigs. These should be about $20 cheaper than a lace front of the same quality.
An even better option for if you're just starting out, is to buy cosplay wigs. These are non lace fronts and don't look that much "realistic" since the hairline is either blunt or completely covered by surrounding hair. BUT they run for around $25 - $45, come in cute fun colors and styles and they don't necessarily look shiny thin cheap If you style them well. They're a good place to start when it comes to wig buying.

As for costumes, I've found that cosplaying or simply dressing up as a well known character tends to add more traffic to my room. For example, I can get around 150 viewers on average in my room normally. But when I'm dresses like Harley Quinn I can get up to 350.

I'm dying to try making a video in cosplay. I did one as Nurse Joy ages ago but it didn't turn out well.
I have like six wigs now just waiting for me to get off my ass and do stuff with them. Arda wigs and gothic lolita are where most of mine are from.

Also, if you have trouble getting wigs to stay on (if you're like me and have a round ass head that everything slides off of or if the wig is heavy) you can sew on wig combs to the inside for extra support.

pinky paradise! I love them. They have my prescription in crazy colors like red and violet.

I really want to use red contacts for my Yumeko from Kakegurui cosplay, but I'm really scared of poking something into my eye! Is it difficult?

It would look so cool for when she goes into crazy orgasms over gambling mode...

You'll get used to it with practice. I had to learn all over again when I started wearing acrylics again. Now I can pop them in contacts with or without nails in just a few minutes. Took me hours as a teenager. That looks like a cool cosplay! I like to do glam demon makeup with my red contacts.

I might give them a go, then. My gf is dead set against it, though! :arghh:

Glam demon sounds so cool!! I recently bought some pretty demon horns and can't wait to film with them.
