ok so I lost my job and I’m starting to take cam more serious. I don’t care if my family finds out, but I do wanna be a doctor one day. So, I am asking advice from other girls who took cam to the next level. Like as a full time job. I’m reading books about business and being an “influencer” and I guess I’m nervous and looking for advice, support, and your stories. Thanks!!

If you want to a dr, unless you are in a very tolerant area i would highly advise you do not cam
Why? Cause it’s taboo? Looked down upon? Our whole career/job is looked down upon. I feel like people say that since that’s the first thing to say but never really have a why

Bree Olson retired from porn and tried to go into nursing and NOBODY would hire her. That's why.

Because anything sex work is extremely frowned upon.
Hell even industries like tattooing and legal cannabis will really hurt your chances of having a "professional" career (Doctor, Lawyer, politics, etc).
One thing you have to be when you cam is visible.
Visible to your audience and the general public, and you do so by putting yourself out there in a "sexually explicit" way.
The impression you leave on the internet will be there forever, that's one thing you really need to consider.
Your shows may be posted on mainstream porn sites, your pictures and videos may be passed around in forums, and there's very little you can legally do to protect your image.
Why does it make it difficult to break into a career after? Because most businesses don't want to be associated with the adult industry AT ALL.
Especially when you're getting into something so family oriented.
A lot of places will get rid of you the minute they find out, because having a worker with a negative association means the potential for a loss of clientele
If you plan on being a Doctor somewhere incredibly liberal and open, go for it. But consider the chance you may be making your life significantly more difficult in the future.

Edit; I forgot to mention, I can't even tell you the amount of jobs (I've been more than qualified for) I haven't gotten because I have sex shop experience on my resume.
It got to the point I could only work at sex shops.

Because i think you will face severe career obstacles if u do so. It is not uncommon to be fired or not hired due to morality clauses.

If you feel.like you are wanting to face all that..more power to u. But be ready. This is a bridge u cannot unburn

Idk about doctors but I have worked alongside nurses that were strippers and escorts. They may not have to worry abt being recorded as much as a cammodel. Take time to really figure out what you want in life

yeah if you switch in and out of races easily it will be harder for people to identify you irl. So for example say you're Asian but you wear a large blonde wig and dark make up and heavy lipstick. When you dress in real life you will look totally different than you did before... I do that in camming but with other ethnic backgrounds. Works out better I've had it wear I can have my id and in the winter time they keep looking at my id unsure if it's me or not because I did my hair make up lips contour all differently than I did in the picture just an example.

It will still show up on your tax returns. You have to report your 1099s, easy to track who paid you.

my husband stopped being a stunt dick in clips when he decided he wanted to switch careers into the medical field. he found work all the time on ratracerebellion.com while he had a heavy school load.

op if you want to deal with the stigma and fight against it, no one here is gonna stop you doing what you think is best for your life. it's your life. we are however gonna advise against it and put up our warning signs.

a family member of mine was fired from her RN job after word got out to the board she used to dance in college.

Switching out races may work if u are able to pass... but lmao, if the poster is a white woman with dutch ancestry or dark skinned black woman that shit wont fly, for example. I think it is harmful to suggest switching ur race and changing your appearance will somehow stop you from having problems getting a job in medicine.

There are so many factors into what can make employers find out, tax returns, background checks, being outed in smaller towns + gossip, ONE coworker finding ur porn and recognizing u etc etc etc. The OP is talking about becoming widely known camming, having an active social media presence, acknowledging their family may find out etc. The bigger your career in cam, the higher the risk but there is always risk.

I didn't know I'm new to this I was just giving the idea of a disguise might be an option. I guess not my bad.

I think everyone is right. I’m gonna cam but still remain anon instead of broadcasting it. I have a decent following now so I make bare minimum of rent but that’s until I get a new job. I really do appreciate everyone’s response!!!

If you live in America these warnings are especially valid. The UK seems to have less of these issues and it's fairly well known in popular culture and the media that a fair amount of female med students delve into escorting or other forms of sex work. But escorting here is not illegal and there is far less of a conservative religious culture. Honestly I think it partially depends on how big a name you get and how much exposure you gain from it. If you're just a relatively successful MFC model with a camscore up to around 4/5k tops who isn't making ranks and doesn't go to conventions or heavily promote on twitter/instagram etc, and do more private shows than public, then you're less likely to be recognised by the general public and can probably go about your life without issue.
If your camscore is over that amount and you're regularly camming in the top spots on the page, promote yourself heavily and maintain a strong social media presence, do ranked months, go to conventions etc and are generally a more "famous" model, you're much more likely to impact any career after you leave the cam industry.

It's easy to look at these horror stories where someone gets found out and loses their job, but realistically when you look at how many women delve into modelling or sex work in their youth then move onto other careers you'd probably find that your chances of encountering issues are minimal. Bree Olsen for example is highly famous for porn and was pretty immersed in the industry, she's also pretty outspoken and dated Charlie Sheen. While I don't believe she should be judged for her industry involvement, there is also an element that if you're in the public eye, people can see what you're up to and may make judgments based on that. It's just not the same as being a low exposure cam model.

It also depends on what sort of doctor you wish to be, there may be some areas within medicine where being a former sex worker will be less shocking or public. For some bizarre reason people especially don't like former sex workers working around children, as though sex worker is the same as "sexual predator", which I find funny seeing as small children will be the least affected seeing as they are the least likely to encounter porn on the internet. Though it's the same as people freaking out at topless sunbathers being seen by kids, like kids care about boobs! Boobs literally exist for babies. It's just a scapegoat for what makes them feel uncomfortable. As someone who's training to be a different kind of Dr. yet also working with people, I have chosen areas where I will be less likely to be stigmatized or that I can use my sex work experience to my advantage. We will see how it goes, but I am not ashamed of my life and don't believe it should be an issue for anyone else.

I guess take heed, be aware of these factors, but remember there's also a shortage of doctors in many places. People may fire a teacher or a nurse if they find out, but if you're a qualified doctor I feel like you'd find work, and if you make yourself indispensable to them while you're working and gain experience you should be able to maintain that work. And, I also believe that we should fight stigma by going against these ideas that sex workers cannot ever do anything but sex work, and the only way to do this is by sex workers gaining qualifications and experience which make it hard to fire them for such petty reasons.

You could try another form of sex work which is less easily recorded such as stripping or phone sex. The US does seem really prude about sex workers.

I am a person who works at s job that people typically think you cannot do with sex work. Please send me a private message. I’ll explain how I do this and some ways to protect yourself if you are interested.

I think you need to take into consideration that your face or pictures once online will be on the internet forever. Loads of Cam sites (and clients) record cam shows (even private ones) and then put them on porn sites. Think about the bigger picture.

There is a mfc model named Heyashleytea who is studying to be a dr so she does non nude. It's still possible her camming could hurt her in the future but I hope for her sake it won't.

Stripchat lets you wear a mask on cam so maybe check them out. Everyone is bringing up really good points. I wish ppl wouldn't have such an issue with it but such is life. Good luck!
