So there's a room/model on CB that used to have like 100 viewers or maybe even less.

Then the last few days it skyrocketed to 11-12k top page.
Finally, today, it was back at like 200 viewers.

I know that it's a room run by a studio but what could they have done to accomplish that?
Is it really possible to purchase that much legit traffic and wouldn't it be pretty expensive?

All info and speculations appreciated=P

Considering how slow business seems to be on CB in general lately, I’m guessing it’s very unlikely that it was a natural increase.

Odds are the studio spent some money on traffic for a couple of days to try and boost the model.

is it possible to purchase that much legit traffic....maybe but more than likely they simply got high enough to be selected as a top model in the affiliate and thats when you saw the 11-12k viewers. How they went from 100 viewers or less to high enough to be selected 🤷‍♂️ couldn't say.

Woudl it be so unthinkable that CB has some kind of "rank boost" thing studios could pay for? When you advertise online (adblockers notwithstanding), the ad agency shout louder the more you pay. Would IMo basically be the same thing. Just wild speculation though.

Yes, studio managers and monitors being able to keep a secret like that? :giggle: completely unthinkable. The stuff they openly talk to me about would surprise you.
Hehe, good point. There are oviously some characters among the male monitor population. I give them made up names when I talk to models, if the monitors are the type that appear to sit on an effing chair just off cam and next to the model ... constantly telling the model something important. One even corrected me and gave me his real first name 😄

chaturbate is the site with the most weird traffic i have ever seen... they claim they do not touch the traffic but they obviously do. They did something to my account that for some reason I lost all my traffic this year. For example i only made $100 in 5 days there. I could make this in a night last year. They manually take control of our traffic its just obvious

Thank you for all the answers guys.

It's obvious that there's something off going on.

And what u say Walker seems to be true for many.
A model I follow regulary has lost so much traffic it seems.
Have to struggle real hard to get up to 200 even.

yes some models are given huge traffic since the 1st day and others are sent all the way to the back.. i dont know what are the standards to be the "lucky one". Maybe when you sign up they look at your face think you could be a success and give you all of the traffic.. i really dont know but they obviously control all of our traffic its OBVIOUS LOL!

Then there's the sock stuffing (by studios, probably) going on. I.e. you hang out in a room with maybe a dozen real users, and suddenly there are en extra 100 anons just like that. After a while it's back to the regular crowd with one or two anons. It always seemed rather pointless to me, because according to chaturfier the ranking does not move at all when this happens. You can pull a room ranking out of the API?

No one gets randomly selected for traffic until they are in the top 5 positions of a gender. Theres no manipulation from CB, it doesn't even make sense to think there is.

CB could easily switch to cam score like the other sites if they wanted to which would immediately put the top earnings in the front but thats not what CB Is about, They have gone out of their way to maintain a non cam-score system which in my opinion is what makes CB a great place to hang out. Are there some positional pullbacks if your room is stale? maybe but its nothing close to as bad as it would be if this was a cam score system.

Very insightful. Really appreciate it!
In general how much of this is public information?
How secret is the algorithm?

The affiliate traffic? thats public.

The algorithms? thats g14 classified :giggle: I assume the exact details are only known to select few within the company as i've never heard the details being leaked at any point.

Haha, figured as much. But it's kinda shady when they seem to change and it hits established people.
From what I've heard there is lot of complaing lately about the viewercount. Not that it has to be soley related to this.

And as for the affiliate traffic, ye I have seen that.
But I wasn't sure about how far it could actually take you.

Well we know the number of models broadcasting these days is high and the number of viewers is also high so more competition. It's not like the majority of these new viewers are browsing all the pages, the majority are probably sticking to first page. The average number of colored names required to get on page 1 is definitely higher than it used to be but im guessing thats just from the increased number of viewers viewing the first page.

Exactly, this plays a factor.

Only an hour ago, there were 99 pages of models for what I could personally see (as a male - would probably be more if I set to female/couple, as many guys for instance hide from other guys, etc).
Of those, 67 were Female. 21 were male.

That's close to 9,000 models online all at once competing.

I made a thread here recently regarding having over 102,000 "silence bans" on my account, despite only ever having banned 1 or 2 people from my room in the course of being on CB (2016).
I had models say they could not view my profile it said they were banned, despite me not having them on a ban list. I asked CB to clear these silent bans (by which point they were at 118,000+), and now a couple I have tested, can view my profile fine.

My point here is it could be having an impact on your accounts too - maybe not, maybe so. I really don't know, I can only say based on mine.
That is me as a non-broadcaster! I could not clear the list myself, I had to contact CB to do it. Maybe something to consider for you all.

The thread I made is: https://www.ambercutie.com/forums/threads/102-908-linked-accounts-wtf.37102/

A few days ago, 2 models started camming together, half way through their shows. It became a 2 model show. They each continued broadcasting from their own rooms. Model #1 jumped quickly from a few hundred to 12,000 viewers. She had a long list of dark purples in her room and got a lot of tips. Model #2 eventually creeped up to 450 viewers. She got very few tips. I suspect the difference was in their settings. Model #1 was probably allowing herself to be broadcast on affiliates and model #2 probably wasn't. It seemed to make a big difference.

Just a side note... im a new model and have been scammed 3 times in a month with the password shows. CB did nothing
I believe that what happened to me they allow and all this other under handed stuff to say they have the most traffic but its not quality. There is a brodcaster on the 1st page everynight and she has has 10k viewers in her room but only 100 or so are actually tipping. Now she worked her ass off to get there but if i was 1 of the 100 shelling out big money for thousands to get a free show i would be heated.
I am glad i learned early in my career cuz. The other sites i am on have had 0 problems and cb is on pure bs!

Does anyone know if there's a list of these CB affiliate websites available? I've considered enabling the option because my room traffic sucks but I don't want my face plastered anywhere someone I know might see it.

im pretty sure there's not a list, since everyone who has an account has access to the affiliate api and there's no requirement to inform cb how you are using it. Its not just sites, but applications and even social media accounts that can all pull in data from the api so the amount of traffic you could be missing out on is possibly huge.

I may be mistaken, but from my interactions with quite a few studio models, I have been told by many of them that they are not given access to the affiliate api. It seems the studios themselves(in these cases) control a model's traffic in very underhanded ways without them knowing it.

Kingmarti is just saying theres no list of affiliate sites because theres too many to keep track of so the amount of traffic a person could be missing out on by disabling the option of appearing in network affiliate sites could possibly be huge. It doesn't have anything to do with the fact that studio models don't have access to being an affiliate themselves they can still appear on network sites like any other model they just can't profit directly from 20% revshare and other similar programs.

I agree, but in the spirit of the OP's original post, and from my interactions with the models I spoke about above, it seems the studios have recently begun taking great liberties with whom they choose to promote within the confines of the model base that they control. So they 'can' appear on network sites, or they won't. It's entirely subjective, and the models themselves are not given any control over how to increase their traffic outside of the confines of the studio owners control. This could explain the recent surge in some accounts getting more viewers for a while, and the studio reverts to another model to promote when the first one doesn't earn what was expected.

Ye. That aligns with what I've suspected. I got some insight into the studio through another model there. And latetly it seems like there's been a lot of experimentering going on. This more in the favor of some then others.
Of course it's easy to get lost in speculation tho.

I don't mind if it's websites off the beaten track (porn/erotica/cam sites) but I don't want my face on popular social media or dating websites where friends or family might accidentally see it. I use ad blockers on most websites so I wouldn't even know.

if you allow affiliates, does that mean they can post your livestream videos on other sites? or that the livestream itself plays in another site when im online?
