Hi all, first post.
I hope I am not intruding on your community here by just waltzing in and posting a new thread, but I happened upon your site after days of research that resulted in reading lots of spam lol. I'm a guy that is interested in becoming a webcam model and I don't really know where to start. How can you be sure what sites are trustworthy to work for when you are sending your identification info and all that. How do i know where I can actually make money. Granted I don't expect to make the 10000 a month or whatever most of these sites seem to be claiming their models get. I do however consider myself to be a very sexual person and feel I would be at least a little successful if I knew just how to weed out the truly trustworthy companies from the scams so to speak. Any tips that anybody could bless me with would be very appreciated, especially in this specific aspect of getting started. I feel I have been reading forever and every site is promising some pretty hefty payments which makes it kinda hard to take their word for anything. Again sorry if I was being too blunt in assuming you all aren't just gonna tell me to screw off, but couldn't hurt to ask am I right lolz.

I'm not really the most knowledgable person on this, I have done some research into male cam models, just out of curiosity, and in the straight department there seems like very little. To entertain women you generally have to have a little bit more in the personality/interaction department than the sexual department, you don't really get too many women searching the internet to find men's penis's, and especially as there's a culture of men paying for men and always wanting to see men, there aren't too many women with their wallets out who feel they need to pay to see hot guys jerk off, most women could see that for free.

If you're talking about gay stuff though, I don't have huge knowledge on it, but I have heard that yes you can make quite decent money on some sites. Again it's difficult because a lot more men are interested in getting their gear out on the internet for strangers than women are, and there are dramatically less gay men and pervy women crawling the internet for this kind of thing. In the gay community, this may be a stereotype, but I have enough gay friends to know that with many, the stereotype does fit, that there are a large amount of very hot gay guys who work out a lot and are completely happy to have free sexual fun with another gay dude online and in real life. Men don't have the same boundaries most women have with sex, meaning finding action isn't really something you'd need to pay for.

As a female model I know full well how many dudes want to get their junk out on camera and be watched. Enough that they'd pay for someone to watch them. So yes, because of the nature of men, seeing penis's online isn't a massive money maker unless you're sticking it in a girl (or a guy).

I'm not trying to deter you, but it is definitely a tough crowd. I can't give you much website advice as I've never worked on a site that allows dudes, but if I were to give you advice, after watching several dudes camming, I noticed that there was a pattern with them being un-interactive and basically sitting their stroking their cocks stoneyfaced unless someone tips them to show something, this to me is extremely boring, as a cam model I know on myfreecams dudes watching a camgirl do that get bored fairly quickly, it's the interaction and personality mixed with the sexy side that keeps dudes coming back. I would imagine if you are very chatty, friendly and interactive you would become more successful.

I hope some other girls know more about male camming, I'm pretty sure some of the girls do... but as this is a camgirl forum with straight/possibly bi members unless some of the dudes here have cammed, it's probably not the best place of resource for male camsites.

Thank you for responding. I fully expected that the majority if not all viewers I would get doing this would be gay guys. Also fully expected to have to do a lot more than just play with my dong, I'm bi and actually get quite excited at the whole exhibitionist idea regardless of exactly who's watching. Was more just wondering what are some legit places to cam for that have male models. If I could even make a little money I'd be pretty stoked, and if not at least I'd have tried and had a little fun.

Streamate does male cam modelling, the site itself gets a lot of traffic, I know lots of girls can do very well on there as it's fairly consistent income. I would just make sure you don't sign up for a studio connected to streamate and streamate itself. Other than that I'd check out some purely gay sites... I have heard a few mentioned here which I've heard guys can actually make decent money, I still think not as much as girls can make, but I think you'd be able to make above minimum wage. Worth a try definitely. Chaturbate also does male camming I think, though I've heard negative things about the site, but there are still plenty of models who work there, even many from here.

Hello! my ex used to cam solo and he used to do okay!! i mean not what I was making but he would make like 50-100 a session which is NOT bad for a guy. I would totally join Chaturbate it has a lot of guys that do well and u can spy on there rooms to see what they do. Also stream mate is also good for guys. If you can get a partner and find a female you will obviously make more but good luck!!!

Awesome, thanks so much for the responses!! I had heard of streamate before, so they are known to be reliable with payment and your personal info?

Streammate is actually the best w/ pay i receive it every Friday. Chaturbate takes the longest to hit my account and yes every company holds your privacy but you will be on cam so if u are worried abt privacy not sure if this is the best profession. Even w/ geo blocking ppl w/ VPNS can get through.

Oh I'm not worried about privacy as in being seen, just don't want my name, id#, address, and such falling in the wrong hands. Although the more years go by the more I welcome identity theft, they can have my debt lolz.

I have been camming on streamate for 3 years, and no one there has learned my real name in all that time.

Also, in all that time, I've only had issues with 2 checks (they pay weekly), one of which got to me about a week late, the other I'm still waiting on but it's probably my fault- I'm moving and I changed my address with streamate before making sure I could get mail at the new place, so I think it might've been returned to sender (in which case, they'll send it again, I hope). But since I remember what was said before, I'll let you know

when the first check got lost in the mail, I was told that if it hasn't been cashed within (I think it was 3 months?) after the check was originally sent, they will resend it for free. Or I can get them to reissue the check earlier for a fee (I think it was $45). (I no longer have the email they sent, because I had to change email addresses. Not a streamate problem, it was a hotmail account.) I am so glad it appeared a few days later!

Ok cool, so sounds like a lot of love for streamate. Think that's where I will try signing up first. Do they have any kind of restrictions on who they accept? I notice looking around the site that almost all the male models are pretty muscular. Anybody know if that's by design or that just happens to be the majority of applicants they get? Now I am absolutely not fat, I'm in good shape and pretty trim, but far from muscular lol.

I've never heard of anyone getting turned down by Streamate! They have all kinds on there :)

My boyfriend works at flirt4free gay section and makes a very good income definitely more than me. He said that you can charge up to 150 per min. I am still trying sites around and can not yet make my mind where pay is better. lol

Hello everyone. My first time here thank you for taking The time to read.. also writing from a phone, please excuse any typos.

I first learned that being a male cam model can be lucrative last nighy while looking at jobs on craigslist.... to put it lightly I am in a financial bind after a series of poor choices.. I am making myself sick over not being able to get christmas gifts for my son, I am behind on car payments, and desperately need a new apartment.

My question is, can anyone give me an approximate estimate on how long it takes to make a decent living? At this point I will accept pretty much any amount of pay..its just almost impossible for me to find a decent job because of poor choices last year (ie: poor enough choices to get me kicked out of the Marine Corps.)

ANY ADVICE on starting out will be appreciated. I have already decided that I can and will do this..

How much is a quality cam?
Also, I will not be using my computer until I can make enough to buy one.. how discreet is any software required? Any issues with viruses or anything like that? Please excuse my ignorance. This is all so new to me.. thanks again for any help.

Edit: btw I am a late 20's, MOSTLY in shape (put on some love handles since leaving the military lol), light complexioned caucasian guy, generally an intelligent conversationalist, and willing to push boundaries just a little bit (gay4pay and some painless assplay is reasonable to me).

Hi! I don't know if you've posted this anywhere else and already got a reply, but here is my 2 cents. Female models are much higher in demand than male models, so it will be hard for us to tell you how much you could realistically make doing this. I've heard of some male models (good ones, but not like celebrity or anything like that) making 30 or 40 an hour on streamate. That is the site you should sign up for first. But before you become a model, spend a lot of time on the site in other models rooms, looking at how they act and what they do. Watch some gold shows and private shows. I know you're loathe to spend money, but it is an investment and I believe tax deductible as it's market research.

When you sign up, sign up DIRECTLY on streamate.com. Don't sign up on any other site, including ones guaranteeing you will make a lot of money. The ads you saw on craigslist were probably bullshit. All cam sites say "Make $230830985 per week!!", but they don't tell you that that is what 2 highly popular ex pornstar models on the site who work 75 hours a week make. Not the average person (especially a man). Have regular hours as much as possible by getting on around the same time every day and staying online. A solid shift can be 3-4 hours. Be nice and say hi and thanks to everyone, especially if you recognize them or they've spent money on you before. That's all I got now, best of luck!

EDIT: Woops, I forgot to mention about the cam. I use logitech 9000, you can buy it on amazon now for like $50 or $60. You NEED a good camera, don't even bother with the built in one a new computer might come with. I'd also recommend getting a good microphone, as the built in microphones on the webcams always seem to have weird sounds going on in the background. I use the Amigo Cobra mic and like it. You'll also need a realistic looking dildo for sucking, some lube, and a toy for anal. You could use the same dildo for anal, but if you aren't that into it, you might want to get a thin, smaller one. Butt plugs are also a great way to have an anal aspect to your shows without much discomfort. I have several small ones that I use regularly.
