I'm very pleased to see CB reviewing apps that have been reported to them as problematic and removing malicious ones from the site. Last week, ALL the apps from the person called Pigley were removed from CB because they were found to be malicious. This is a huge win for app safety and I hope that CB continues to take action like this.

I'm happy to see that none of the apps I use have been removed. But it's great to know they are taking steps to fix this issue.

Tbh those Pigley apps were so "extra" anyway. Someone tips 100 tokens and it spams the chat with 50+ rows of dollar bills. Calm down buddy. That's only five bucks. 😅

If someone was using an app you were running to steal your content or inhibit the actions of users in your room without your knowledge then maybe it would be a good thing for that app to be removed even if it was part of your setup.

It would absolutely be a good thing.

Let me rephrase for clarity: I'm happy to see that I haven't been using any malicious apps.

Because you know...I don't know how to detect if an app is malicious or not. I'm in the dark as far as that's concerned. So I'm happy to see I've made good choices so far. That's all I meant.

I keep a very conservative list of apps I know to be problematic in my CB bio if you need a resource. I've also discussed a few like Room Analytics here. Feel free to reach out to ask about any if you think they might be problematic.

@Vixxen81 I offered them a resource to fill in a knowledge gap they said they had. Why do you find that problematic?

I am here to highlight a real issue in the community that is preventing honest app developers from creating and sharing apps on Dev portal. smoker919 is actively taking code from other apps, making claims to that code in various ways, then marketing to make custom apps with stolen code from countless apps made by various authors. All the while fearmongering app safety and the value of opensource apps. This grift has to end.

What would a grift like this accomplish, I wonder? App developers who upload their app to cb don't get paid do they?

You keep preaching to models. It is annoying not gonna lie. You just inserted yourself on a topic where I asked a question and very rudely so. If I asked it is because I know what some people have been doing while none pays attention

If only I had published a whole lot of apps open source that show the inanity of this claim...oh, wait, that's exactly what I've been doing since I started writing apps on CB.

Seems like this is Pigley taking one last bite at the apple since all his apps were removed from CB for actually being malicious, i.e. validating the "fearmongering [about] app safety and the value of opensource apps".

You are still an attention seeker. And from what I saw you also stole "The Menu" code. That has nothing to do with Pigley

You don't seem to have much knowledge about software development. I reverse engineered the behaviour of The Menu -- which means that I did not use the source code from The Menu -- to produce that app at a time when there were legitimate safety concerns about The Menu. Since you don't wish to engage in an intellectually honest conversation, I will highlight that once those safety concerns were resolved I started directing models to The Menu. When I take an issue with an app it's not about the app itself but about the risks it poses to models and viewers. Please don't confuse that with the kind of attention seeking you're perpetuating right now.

I asked for you to educated me on this because I am actually uneducated and curious about THIS! Nothing else. Unsolicited advice or trying to make me look dumb is not welcomed by me. Take care.
