    FWIW Lily, I've never experienced any volume/sound/loudness issues with it, but I do have it connected to a Panasonic TV. Not that that should make any difference whatsoever but... The Sony one you mentioned is supposed to be excellent too; you shouldn't be disappointed...

    I have a Panasonic Blu Ray / DVD player: its good and wasn't expensive. I think its two years old by now so you should be able to pick one up easily in your price range (I bought it new off a guy in work for £80 because he got it in a deal when he spent over £3k on a new TV!) ...
