I typically find ear buds to have inferior sound quality to certain headphones, and yet it's a lot easier to carry ear buds around while walking on the street.

I don't do any street walking, so headphones are my thing. I have some regular headphones for normal use, and then a noise canceling headset with a mic for gaming.

It depends what I am doing. If I'm using my phone for music, ear buds. If I am gaming, or using any of my computers for music, sometimes I use regular headphones. I like big cooshy ones that go around my ear, since I wear glasses I am picky.

I'm an editor so I use high quality $70 head phones for editing and pc use, but I use high quality ear buds for ipod and all mobile usage.

I have a pair of cheap earbuds. I should probably invest in a better pair at some point, but it's not a high priority and the cheap ones work well enough.

For gaming or just listening to music?

I personally like Plantronics, they make overall good headsets (they are the only headsets to make it to the moon and back). Audio quality I can't really speak of as I'm half tone deaf, but they sound good to me. I also prefer over ear headphones (vs on ear) as they don't squish my ears and crush them into the arms of my glasses.

Oh and I also have a pair of decent earbuds for when I'm out listening to my Zune.

To me- earbuds are for when I don't want anyone to notice that they're there. That includes on camera and on the street. Headphones are for when I don't care if people see them, I just want to hear what I'm listening to.

HOWEVER- at the moment, the only comfortable thing I have is a cheap pair of $5 earbuds that I bought to try out that form they came out with a few years back. The headphones I have, the band hurts my head after an hour or two.

I have extremely small openings to my ear, so earbuds are out of the question, cant even use a blue tooth as they NEVER stay in place to hear a damn thing. I actually prefer Sony headphones for cheap and I used to have some old Bose headphones my Dad had, but the dogs ate em a few years back LOL
