This game... is a lot harder than I expected it to be. I'm going to guess this is par for the course as a DKC game, as I've not played one since DKC1 on SNES... I think I may be spoiled by Rayman Legends, in that I'd prefer some changing of the formula every couple of levels or so... Though, the music is pretty awesome, as evidenced by this first boss battle:

Looks like exactly the same gameplay as I remember from Donkey Kong Country on the SNES, some of those boss battles were a bit samey and dull for me, but the rest of the game was excellent and really did feel like an adventure, replaying the levels to get perfect scores kept bringing me back.

Not sure I'd have the patience to play this kind of game now though, as it is basically the same as before and I really played it to death!
