Before this month's Oscars ceremony, National Public Radio (USA) ran a dialogue on Female Directors and the Academy. There was a sound bite from the 1940 movie Dance Girls, Dance, starring Maureen O'Hara and Lucille Ball that caught my ear. The movie was a flop, but has been remembered for one scene.
Judy (O'Hara) is dancing solo on stage before a live audience and suffers a wardrobe malfunction. She gets hit by hecklers and her response is classic and classy:
