I was convinced it needed to happen in a week before the age of 1.5. Not sure why I ever thought that because it's clearly just silly. Reality, it's different for every kid and you'll figure it out as you go. Best to just stay flexible.
*Eating with a fork
I mistakenly assumed it would be an easy thing to learn and needed to happen by the age of 1. Apparently it's a lost easier to just wash finger tips, and way, way cheaper than buying a bunch of plastic toddler sporks. Soap is so much cheaper. Should note, my kid is seriously opposed to messes and hates having anything icky on his hands so hand washing is painfully easy.
