This is a mirror of the website that he setup (MartinManleyLifeandDeath.com) on Yahoo (they eventually pulled the site due to TOS issues)

While some people might think that suicide is highest amongst young adults in fact elderly men over 60 is growing at a staggering rate.

Wow that's really disturbing, moving. I can't decide how I feel about it, but it makes me feel shitty that he put a lot of work into that site, his first lines are:

"Today is August 15, 2013. Today is my 60th birthday. Today is the last day of my life. Today, I committed suicide. Today, is the first day this site is active, but it will be here for years to come."

Then what, a day later they shut it down? That's fucked up.

Wow, really?? I saw this on the sidebar...man kills himself in waiting room while his wife gives birth to his first child... http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/new-dad-kills-wife-hospital-room-article-1.1425983

Yeah apparently some redditor saw it and mirrored it right away before Yahoo took it down.

Personally I can totally understand where he is coming from, with more advances in tech/medicine our life expectancy will only get longer and because of that the cost of living into our 80s / 90s / 100s is a major burden on you, the system and your family who when you are 100 they are most likely nearing or are retired as well. And that is "if" you are somewhat healthy, add the cost of becoming ill due to disease or just from old age and it is compounded greatly or just outliving your family and friends is a terrible thing to think of.

I recently started to watch "Inside Man" on CNN with Morgan Spurlock and he did an episode about elderly care which focused on this grandmother, it was an interesting look at the future of what getting old might look like. http://insideman.blogs.cnn.com/2013/07/ ... h-grandma/

Yeah I;m not sure Manley himself is the best qualified to have decided whether or not he was mentally stable, but regardless I respect his right to decide when and how his life ends.
