Peace and Freedom, Barr on ballot in California.

She's not Ellen, but she's not one of those other clowns ether. Roseanne Barr wins nomination of The Peace and Freedom Party. Those who dismiss any protest vote as a wasted vote have not been persuasive. Had they been, my choice would have been to save my time on the 6th rather than cast a lesser vote. Now, I'm sure those backing The Libertarian Party's Gary Johnson are sure to argue the power of casting a protest vote is diminished if we don't all throw to the same lot. Well, I'm a little bit familiar with Roseanne's politics, and I have grown to like her, "Joke em if they cant take a fuck" approach to life. That's a bunch more than I know about G. Johnson, and she is on the ballot is Ca. Unless I'm persuaded it makes a big difference which, "also ran" candidate I vote for, I don't see any need to research the politics of anyone else. If I'm asked why I voted for Roseanne, well, if for no other reason, b/c she has the biggest balls.

Yeah on the whole anthem thing: You go and ask a comedienne to sing for you, one who is known specifically for her rather low brow and vulgar humor (i dug it, but she was crass), and not known for being a singer. Then you tell her to go out and (not a direct quote here, been too long since i saw it) "do it like you would do it on stage" (again, thats a paraphrase of the actual words used). then you wonder how she could do such an evil thing? i mean to use farce or satire that includes any patriotic image? how utterly low!... wait sorry, let me wipe the sarcasm off the screen here..... seriously? its effin rosanne barr! She was at a ball game and scratched her crotch and spit... you know, like all stereotypical ball players do? Look, im way patriotic... to me the constitution and bill of rights may well be the single best written set of laws in human existence. it was and is the culmination of the theory of democracy started in greek times. we are a nation founded on those principles. the first of which in the bill of rights is the freedom of speech, religion, and press. the national anthem is not sacred, it isn't something handed down by some old sky man with a beard. its a song that was written with a love of this country. a country that includes the idea that if you want to make fun of, insult, or otherwise express yourself using the icons of this country it is your right to do so. hell you can burn the flag if you want. Its a legitimate form of protest. i'll join the idea that i may disagree with your ideas but will defend your right to have them to my death. (yay for the paraphrasing!) i cant find it in myself to hate someone for being an idiot. even if they are dangerous idiots. and miss barr is neither.

Totally agree. And to be offended by Roseanne singing an English drinking song (which is where the music to the national anthem came from) like she's drinking, is kind of silly when we think about it. lol

Well that explains the random upswings which makes the national anthem one of the hardest-to-sing-well songs on the planet! The melody wasn't ever MEANT to be sung well.

Also explains why it drags out so much... though I've also seen that we're techincally supposed to sing it about four times as fast as most people actually do.

Why yes, I did used to be in choir. Why do you ask?

I heard about Roseanne Barr running for president on the Peace and Freedom ticked a while ago and thought it was brilliant. I love the platform they're running on and I while I support it (the platform) 100%, I don't think they have a shot in hell of ever winning. It's too bad, really. I've watched a lot of her political speeches and talks in the past few months and she's not some idiot, she does actually know what she's talking about.

Also, she's a comedian who cannot sing. Maybe she shouldn't have been asked to sing the National Anthem if it's that big of a deal.
