So just wondering if anyone else has this but I got a decent enough camera for pictures so that I can start adding to my profile but I just can't seem to take any good pictures? Am I being over critical on myself?

Like it is silly stuff that makes me not use a certain picture to me my eyes look wonky, or my lips are non existent or my bewbs are too far apart or some such. Is it just nerves because I haven't took many of these pictures before?

I also don't have anyone to help me take pictures and I don't really have anyone to show them to and say you know 'how does this look?' and get a different opinion.

Has anyone got any tips for taking pictures on your own?

Thank you, I did take this pic! And I was really happy with it.. Its just I'm not sure if it is because I'm showing more in the other pics that I'm just a bit self-conscious or not and that's why I'm not happy with them! I think I might just need to relax about taking them - like maybe i'm putting too much thought into it?

Sign up for model's only! Our very own @PlayboyMegan (IRL model who's been in Playboy) made a whole thread called "How to Model" and gives pointers on what poses will be most flattering.

I think it's totally common to stare at your own photo and overanalyze the fuck out of it, haha. Most people will look at your face as a sum of its parts, while you will look at each individual part (eyes, mouth, nose, etc) and compare it to how you think it should look. Nobody else will ever look as critically at your pictures as you do! I try to just give a quick glance and if my first impression is "this isn't bad", then I'll post it. I don't give myself time to nitpick. And sometimes I will share a photo that I think is mediocre at best, and it gets a really positive response.

Also, play with makeup, lighting, & angles to figure out what's flattering for you, and what highlights your favourite features.

I'm going to go old school with my thoughts. Abebooks is a site you can buy used books from bookstores. If you start searching, there's a lot of photography books available to get ideas from. Here's a few, and every one of them is under $5 with shipping included. You may also be able to download these and many more on something called a 'torrent' site. But I don't know anything about that. So you would be totally on your own there. Totally.

i agree with GenXoXo, put yourself out there test the waters get multiple opinions and you will improve overtime, but remember what you think of yourself is more important and everyone had to start somewhere. But so far you look great already. Stay confident in yourself!

There are also a bunch of videos on Vimeo and Youtube that may help you out. A lot of them are to promote their "master classes" or group sessions with models, but there is a lot of good practical advice, as well.
