I'm sure there is an important reason why try to slide into the base and not just put their foot on the base as they run past like a grownup???

Players slide when there is no force play to avoid being tagged out and reach the base safely. If their intention is to go further than that base they won't slide and keep running.

Ofcourse, you don't always have to slide either.

Some how I'm not surprised by the two slides being shown are both from teams of the state of Texas.
