Not sure how else to describe it.

Blindly loyal perhaps?

Anyway, strange phenomenon I've noticed in rooms from time to time.

Some guys refuse to see anything negative with their favorite girl.

There is a very popular model whose video feed regularly has "rubber banding" issues. It will run fine for a moment, and then for a couple of frames it will jump back, and then snap forward again. It creates an odd visual. Like the girl has very jerky and jarring movements. It reminds me of how the creepy girl from the movie The Ring walked.
Yet any time someone asks about it in the room, her hardcore fans mob the person. Just rip them a new one and say they are seeing things, telling lies, and they tell the model not to worry that everything is fine and the guy is just being an asshole. But we all see it!

I have been in a model's room where she will ASK if her picture is ok when it's horribly pixelated and blurry, I will say something, and her fans tear me to shreds.
I don't say it rude even, I will simply say "it looks a little blurry" and her fans will say "No you look perfect! The picture is fine. You're beautiful. Ignore that asshole"

I don't understand this mentality. These women are not all delicate flowers who can't take a little criticism. They want to look their best to maximize their profits, and I feel like these guys actually hurt them more than help them. But more often than not, the model listens to them because they are regulars and she trusts them.

I'm curious if any models here have experienced it with their regulars, and how you would normally deal with it. If at all?

Some Cam girls do have Blurry webcams.. i do tend not to say anything tho as that reaction i do get.

I do tend to go to rooms with HD shown as i know it is better Cam quality. But i have a heart and feel sorry for the girls with poor webcams. have to start somewhere i guess :)

I've noticed this too, and had the same experience. I'm wondering if the "rubber band effect" and other stream-related problems aren't specific to a combination of a specific user and that model. If not, they aren't doing her any favor by not telling her if her stream is messed up. I'm sure all models would want to know if there's a problem they can't see on their end.

They can be!
A former very active user on this forum and semi-reg of mine stopped visiting me after sending me a lengthy MFC mail describing how my feed is so laggy that it's impossible for him to keep watching me. I was very upset and asked several models to confirm this because I knew the girls would be honest with me. They couldn't confirm it though. :|
I explained to him that it might be on his end and he described his awesome fast internet speeds to me, using them as an argument. But obviously the issue was on his end, otherwise everyone would have had the same problem with my stream.
I guess some model/user combinations are just no luck! You should keep that in mind when you criticize a model's feed... If several guys say that it's fine for them, the odds are the problems are on your end.

I used to have lag problems with every model on my friends list. On the days it was good for me, other people had problems. I think MFC did something for Comcast customers that fixed it for me one day.

I was just in a room the other day, and I was using a laptop I have not used in a while, it was also the first room I had visited. The audio was very bad, sounded like the Model was over modulating, or like the laptop speakers were badly blown, so I asked if it was me or did everybody have bad audio? it was a room that I was a semi reg in so no one jumped down my throat, but three different regs, quickly said it must be me. I figured i had bad speakers on the laptop, and left it at that. with in 10 minutes the model started singing and the effect got much worse, and at that point others started commenting on it. It was a broadcast issue, but until it became very obvious the Models regs, or some of them anyway, were blind/deaf to hear it. So yes I have experienced this dynamic.

Your room/cam is always a little pixellated for me. Only a little, mind you. I've never said anything cos nobody else seems to mention it so I just assumed it was an issue that not everyone had. What you're saying here would seem to reinforce that. Plus, it's nowhere near big enough of an issue to be a detriment to my enjoyment when in your room or anything. Slightly pixellated Lily is far better than no Lily :)

I have had a bizarre amount of trouble in the past getting friend members/regulars to be honest with me. I feel that a lot of members have adopted the emotional responsibility of models, whether or not the lady asked them to in the first place. It's the same reason why I have a bug up my ass about the "smile for us" guys. There comes a point when you stop being supportive and start treating a woman like she shouldn't be allowed to face the real world.

There's nothing wrong with a chick expressing genuine emotions, and there's nothing wrong with telling a grown-ass woman that her audio is metallic if she asks to be told. IMO, running the whole "omg no bb you're perfect don't listen to him" routine reduces the model to a pet. And not even the cool kind of pet like a hunting hound or a trained bear. More like a little Chihuahua that's always shivering and needs some strong man hands to keep it safe.

If a woman can't face reality, MFC is the last place she needs to be... and if you are so worried about a model's psychological state that you don't believe she can handle being told, "your webcam is laggy," then I applaud you for being so kind and gentlemanly for taking care of an emotionally broken woman.

Personally, I don't understand this mentality whatsoever. If you're truly a "fan" of a performer, why provide misleading feedback--especially in regards to technology--that may hurt the overall success of the model?

This reminds me of a couple things:

1) Letting a friend walk around with something hanging out of their nose--or some other embarrassing detail you don't feel like pointing out.

2) When I play a show with my band and my friends say, "Oh yeah man, sounded amazing!" Only to hear from some random person that the vocals were inaudible, or a guitar was too loud, etc. [Even worse is the friend that comes upafter you're done playing to point out what was wrong--rather than jumping in after the first song--but anyway...]

I can't understand how sugarcoating a problem could possibly benefit the person you are a so-called fan of--models can certainly benefit immensely from immediate customer feedback--but why hide something that is probably easily remedied?

That said, there are certainly members that will barge into a room and complain about technical problems that are actually on their end ("no sound bb please type," "video frozen, tell me what u look like bb," "sign language plz bb", etc. :P). Even as annoying as this can be, it's never the job of the room to form a torch-carrying mob to chase the offender out of town (unless I guess the guy is really asking for it).

Just the other night, however, I visited a model whose feed was completely broken (freezing, looping, etc.), but discovered that it was only broken for me. I flipped through a number of different feeds on MFC which all worked perfectly, besides this specific room. The feed, however, was totally fine for everyone else that was there. The model explained that this wasn't the first time this had happened. So apparently sometimes the problem might not be on either end--it just gets created somewhere in the middle. Luckily, no one jumped down my throat about the issue.

agreed. I just came from Lily's room, and it's always bit pixelated for me. but not so much that I can't sit there and be a part of the room.

as for the topic
I always tell the model the truth if her stream is crappy... if she asks. but I've never had the reaction some others have received from other members.
if I'm a reg, I'll tell her even if she doesn't ask :P
I usually know if the fault is on my end and don't say anything in those cases, cause I do know I have shitty internet during certain times of the day.

I have had this happen as well. Model's feed was blurry to me. None of the regulars thought it was. I went so far as to take a screen cap and sent it to the model. She was like "OMG why is everyone saying it is ok?" When the model logged on her member account and checked the feed she noticed the blurriness too. The only thing I could figure out was that maybe everyone else was using a small video screen when watching so maybe it was not as noticeable to them.

I generally do not comment unless it is a model I am familiar with and I am quite sure the problem is on their end and not mine.

VPN's. They aren't just for models.
[Virtual Private Network]

I use to have HORRIBLE problems with lag, especially in one of my favorite models rooms. Well over a year ago I decided to look into a VPN service for security reasons and I come to find out even on the restriction laden free ones the lag problem went away mostly.

I soon upgraded to a pay service. What I discovered was I would still occasionally have problems when I let it automatically connect to the fastest ping'ed server. But when I would manually connect to Canada I NEVER had problems. The only theory I have for his is 'most' of myfreecams customers are in the U.S.. MFC's servers in America are jammed with people. So when I connect outside of the country it connects to an MFC server also in Canada where there's less people connected and thus less bandwidth issues. I even have a better connection when I connect to Romania over U.S. servers.

I don't know if that theory is the correct one but I do know it's been over a year since I've really had any lag issues on my end. Most every time a model asks if there's lag and people pipe up yes, I don't see the problem. Which further goes to my theory that they are all from America and it's THEIR servers, not the models.

Groooooooan.

I literally cannot say ANYTHING other than "I am 100% perfect" or people get weird on me.

"I had a nice time at the gym today"
OMG BB UR O PERFECT DONT GO TO THE GYM U DONT NEED TO WORK OUT UR NOT FAT!!!

"Eh, I dont feel like my bangs are cooperating, I cant get them to flip over"
OMG UR HAIR IS PERFECT DONT BE SO HARD ON YOURSELF YOU LOOK FINE DONT BE INSECURE BB

Like holy shit, Im not fishing for compliments or suicidally depressed everytime Im not totally satisfied with something  And its never anyone who actually knows me or has tipped me, always randoms or 20pters

I would describe it as romantically involved. I mean really; how often do you say anything that would be remotely hurtful to the person you love. As for the others that are not in love the prospect of being a "close" friend to a model probably drives the rest. And when I mean close I mean the chance the model will want to meeting/date them at some point.

I would estimate that 1/3 of all models regulars are romantically involved (one sided mind you) with them.

To me, any time I see guys act this way, in my opinion it's insulting towards the model. Yeah what they are saying is a compliment, but at the same time it's bullshit. It's as if they think the model has such a fragile mind set that anything even remotely negative will bring her world to a crashing halt and she will have to curl up in a ball in a corner and rock herself for the next 5 hours. Do you really need to hold this girl above your head on a pillow made of clouds and puppy farts and protect her psyche at all times????

No! She's an adult believe it or not. If she asks if her camera is blurry, and you say yes, she's not gonna go shave her head and turn anorexic. She's going to *dramatic pause* try to make it better.

The true value of a close friend is that they will tell you things like your clothes looking less than optimal, hoping it will help you. If you take that away all you have is a yes man/ass kisser.

When one person complains about the video (or no sound), I ask if everyone else is experiencing the same thing. I'm not going to go through the trouble of logging off/rebooting if everyone else sees/hears me just fine. There's one member who pretty much always haves problems, but that's because he's using a shitty internet connection that his mom has. So he's always posting "brb" and "I'm stuttering." Then I jokingly say "You can try speech therapy." :P

I'm in the "overly-involved" camp on this one. Some guys just can't take off the rose-colored glasses and are perpetually stranded in that I'm-so-infatuated-I-can't-see-straight zone. A facet of that is being Mr. Protector. Fact is, most of the models are no doubt more grounded and emotionally stronger than they are.

I'm going to point out something minor that some may not be aware of

Right click the models video feed you should see flash setting QUALITY, low, medium, high

make sure its set to high..

can't see any difference? try zooming the models video then trying low, medium, high..

Interesting, thank you! I'm going to fiddle with this later today.

I only ran into the Rabid fans once. I mentioned to a model that I didn't think her camera was tracking correctly. She would get blurry every time she moved. Her fans didn't like that and I was chased out of the room, never to return.
In general i'm not prone to critique a model. I just don't think its my job to perfect her. If I didn't like what I was seeing I wouldn't be in the room. I don't think that would make me a yes man, more of a I don't really care about that man.

More likely, is that your internet connection/route to the MFC servers was not ideal from your internet provider. The VPN is a good option if your ISP is not willing to to troubleshoot the issue as you can force your connection to take other routes.

While MFC is a business run from the Chicago area its central servers (essentially the video servers) are located in the Seattle area.

A model I visit regularly would often have audio issues with her cam, especially after just logging on. I think I was officially her sound check guy.
Sadly, changes in my work schedule have made it nearly impossible to catch my favourite chipmunk on cam anymore. :(

On the flip side.. "Does my ass look big in this dress"?

"Yes, you look like a whale" - tends not to go down too well :D

I've had a girl say she is fat, so I told her I don't find her fat. She said she was going to get nail extensions sorted so she could look better, I told her that, honestly, nail extensions aren't going to make her look better. She told me I don't understand girls, I agreed. The misunderstanding is in the wording - she meant so she could feel like she looks better.

But when it comes to cam quality, I think I'm lucky. Don't have any fanboys jumping down throats - then again - I'm probably a better known regular in the room and people just aren't like that in the rooms I visit.

One girl I know returned after 2 years away, and her cam was awful. Without trying to be too negative, I was trying to help out. In the end, I managed to persuade her to move her lamp closer, and shine it onto her. The cam clarity improved drastically, and the room went from near empty to 20+ premiums in the space of 2 minutes.

So (depending upon how popular the model is) real feedback could be vital, and those overly protective weird guys going "It's all great" could be doing 'economic' damage.

However, it can also be on the users side :P And the cam may pixelate if the model is moving a lot as interpolation of images becomes less effective.

That doesn't explain why I could only have trouble in one room yet have 5 others up at the same time and have no problem. If it's all the same server for mfc and the same ISP for me then they should all suck equally. And to make matters more confusing, one night it will be one room. Then the next night that room will be fine but I'd have problems with a different room that was coming in fine before.

Like I said, I don't know exactly what is causing it, but I do know a VPN pretty much wiped out all the problems on my end. So I like it. :)

Unfortunately, that blinding loyalty mentioned can be a killer and, as much as it causes problems, I'd much rather be honest with people. It's meant that I've ended up not going back to some regular rooms (protip: If a model asks via PM why you don't go there anymore, and you explain why having also previously mentioned the reasons before making the decision, it's annoying to have the more needy PM's. Might just be me though).

You'll always get the white knights, no matter where you go though. Just be civil in response, as I'm sure the model will react appropriately if it goes too far.
