I’m just wondering why they are “cracking down” on sex Skype shows? I thought all of this was totally legal so why would it be an issue. Thanks!
I think it's because of SESTA/FOSTA. I'm pretty sure ALL sexual Skype calls are technically against TOS, even if they're not sex work related (although you probably shouldn't quote me on that).

I never used skype, because I never had one decent payer ask me about it (back in the days before I joined SM). It was all total wankshafts, that had no money, and wanted to have really long shows. And I mean literally 100s of them. I closed my skype account, and dumped sky private as an income source. That was my experience.

Back when google hangout existed, I did have some fun experiences there, but they were always with guys who had little money. That was back when camming was more of a hobby, and not my full time career. It's not something, I would even consider doing, now that I have been doing this about 6 years. If some models can make it work, then more power to 'em. But that was STRONGLY, NOT the experience I had. When I was new, I was really insecure, and thought I needed to take any little scrap of money, and be grateful for it. So I would do crazy long shows, for amounts I consider laughable now. Without fail 75% of those buyers always turned into constant messengers, who never tipped, and wanted hours of messaging daily. Of the dirty talk kind. It was an AWFUL period of my cam career, but it did teach me a lot :)

Those guys also tended to be way more demanding and entitled, then any of the sweet regulars that I have now. So saying No, and building strong boundaries, was a total WIN for me!
Plus I very rarely have dudes go off at me in an abusive way anymore, back then when I dealt with those types, it was a weekly issue. No bueno.

Because of FOSTA/SESTA of course. "Pornographic content" was never allowed on Skype but this rule wasn't really enforced before, after FOSTA/SESTA passed they started actually cracking down on sex shows.

Skype shows are generally not worthwhile. Like other users here posted, most people soliciting Skype shows are doing so to either low-ball you or outright scam you. Unless they pay you in tokens, they can reverse the payment as soon as the show is finished, and there won't be a thing you can do about it. PayPal and possibly other payment services will outright ban you indefinitely if they find out you're using them for adult services. Skype will do the same, again as others here said.

On Chaturbate (and probably most other cam sites), organizing off-site private shows is against the ToS and can lead to a site ban. Assume all communications are logged, so don't try to be sneaky about it, either! Not worth it at all. If people are really interested in purchasing your services, they will do so on your and the site's terms. I'm even flexible with my prices on CB for the benefit of my clients, but I refuse anything that's not by-the-books.

The one time that I did actually offered one, I asked if he would pay the advertised price. He said yes and would pay through the platform. Then offered me $15 for 30 min. When I told him that it was $100 for 15 min he said I was too fat and ugly to charge those rates and I should be grateful for what I get. That was when I said if they don't request it through the platform...THEY GET NOTHING!

  • Sorry to hear that.
