Hey Ya'll! Its been a while since I was here but thought this might be a good place to talk about this. I did search but didn't see anything so if I missed it I apologize and please direct me to where yall are already discussing this. So yeah, Im looking to hear from models that are in NC or elsewhere that laws are going to make it difficult to continue working adult sites. What are you doing? Are there ways around it? Do you just need an address in a different state.... Bank account? Or will streaming be impossible if you are located in NC? SM has been my go to site for nearly 15 years (minus a few years here and there) and Ill be honest Im freaking out a little.

If you haven't found it, look for a post by churchmouse in November. It's what you're trying to figure out. Many unanswered questions.

I can't verify any of this is actually true since it's reddit, but here is a post apparently listing the new restrictions by site, there's some implication that OP has been in talks with chaturbate support about a new form going out for NC residents.

Truly terrifying what's happening and I'm so sorry to everyone affected.

I would guess legal teams at cam sites are working a bit overtime to find a way to rework all the legal terms to find a solution. This is also hitting them in the pockets.

If there are mutual aids and orgs to support that can help NC cammers, please drop them here.

Was all this supposed to take place the first? I have someone versed in this looking into this and going to explain the bill to me and all that but I am officially saving and moving to a blue state. because of what i wrote- they not ban girls yet, they work on agreement. The law passed yesterday i think so i think sites need have time to "accomodate" and let people know. Or find solution like CB trying. Anyway respect to all cb support for fight for girls!

I’m not in nc but I shot there last year and still have a lot of content from there and I’m waiting to find out if I can post it…

I know this is the Streamate thread but I just wanted to keep the info in one place: Upon signing in to stream on MFC today, I had to resign an agreement and then before going live i had to sign a consent form where i had to list what activities I consent to. I guess I will just keep a running list of everything I do and then copy and paste it daily when I go live? lol this shit is so dumb. I'm wondering why can't Streamate do something like this?

for real, right? rooting for my cam sisters and brothers up there in NC. all this, less than two weeks before the holidays, under the guise of 'protecting women'. from what, a source of income? insane

while the sites affected scramble on this, maybe those with far larger social media presences than me can link to those you know affected, as in "when I'm not streaming check out XXXX for private shows on site ZZZZ/Discord/TG/whatever" and they can use whatever site tip/tribute function is available them on sites not adhering to this as of yet or who have updated their consent process like the ridiculous but functional stuff explained by @KellyCarolina above, or other means cuz sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

again as per Kelly, I get that they are technically competitors but would be cool if the sites collaborated on this stuff too, on their end for the benefit of each and all the performers on their sites. this work is the opposite of a zero sum game

I'm friends with a couple NC cammers on sm, after reading this thread I messaged them both and yep, same situ. I've messaged my dudes on my Discord with the above "when I'm not streaming..." message with their permission

no, its already affecting people. and the laws arent saying we cant work, you are correct. but they are so complicated that they are making it difficult for the sites to accommodate the new laws

couples in NC cant do content on fansly now.

As of yesterday I have to list every single sex act i perform and "consent" to it on MFC. Every single time. Even if I REFRESH. I have to go through and consent for every tip menu and video, like the screenshot says. But at least I know I can work MFC still. I still dont even now what the other 4 sites i stream on will do.

I think you are getting confused between state age verification laws which have already been in effect and impact many states, and a new law impacting North Carolina which went into effect December 1

NC Law Invalidating Model Contracts Takes Effect December 1 — Free Speech Coalition

North Carolina’s Prevent Exploitation of Women and Minors Act requires operators of adult websites to remove content upon request of a performer, even if the performer signed a valid model release. It also requires producers to collect "explicit written evidence of consent for each act&quot

here’s an article but here’s the tldr on impacts for content creators specifically:

-the law is retroactive meaning porn shot previously in nc or with nc models is apparently.. invalid if you have previously acceptable model releases
-contracts must now include Consent statements with very specific language a list of every sex act that happens in the video
- it makes it so that you can request a site remove your content for any reason, regardless of copyright


Sites are responding to these issues by either making models jump through new hoops or by outright banning nc models. One fear many sites have is that if they don’t respond fast enough to take down requests they liable for up to 10k per day fines.

Porn studios and producers are refusing to hire models from nc because they (understandably) fear they could shoot a video, pay the performer then the performer could demand they do not release it. Essentially holding the work hostage since copyright means nothing now

You may also hear Alabama being talked about here, Alabama also enacted a law which imposes different restrictions.

Porn shot in Alabama must now have notarized documents, including solo porn. For every single shoot. This is obviously untenable for most indie content creators

sites must also display warnings about porn being harmful and addictive and must tax all porn made there or porn sold to Alabama residents with an extra 10% they must pay Alabama.

Many sites are also banning Alabama both models and viewers

Deja Vu: It sounds like USC2257 all over again. If USC 2257 history repeats itself, first will come a general panic, then there will be "art vs. porn vs freedom of expression" debates. Prediction: The big players like CB will likely find a way to comply. The true test will come when the folks who inevitably play fast and loose with the regulations get confronted (or not), or the challenges come. USC 2257 is virtually ignored by most people, even though it's still on the books, so maybe that will be the future of this. Reading the bill, as far as I can tell, it's the addition of separate consent for each sex act that is new thing causing all the fuss. Wow, that could make for some entertaining but stupid and tedious model release forms. I'm sorry for all the NC people who have to endure this disruption. I'm sure other states will be looking at how this works, so I'm going to keep an eye on what happens.
