I've heard rumors about the Russians too, but they're probably just rumors.

Yeah, the Russians, specifically, is who my grandmom and I were talking about, but I was afraid to "single them out" on here and risk offending someone.

I like the Freddie Mercury clip they played at the Olympics, where he does that "Ayyyyy!!!!! Yo!!!" thing that he has the crowd repeat back to him. :-D I was actually watching some YouTube videos of his live performances yesterday.

Damn shame indeed.

American Olympic Commentators are Dicks.

Yeah, it's a shame what some of the commentators say sometimes. I wonder how many of the athletes watch those clips later on and go  "FUCK him/her." LOL.

LOL, I guess they should sugarcoat everything whether the routine sucked or not in order to placate their fans. Olympic competition is not for the type of people that think everyone deserves a pretty little trophy just for participating. When several people finish a race within a few 1/100ths of a second, that is some serious competition. If it hurts to hear a little honestly critical facts, then why listen?

Boohoo, they said her routine wasn't good enough... :crybaby:

Perhaps you can link to a knowledgeable non-American commentary that is all positive with nothing but rainbows spewing from their mouths?

Don't have to sugar coat the commentary, but don't have to be dicks about it either. Pretty much summed up with what Rob Delaney had to say- "ME WATCHING OLYMPIC EVENT: “Holy shit that was amazing!” COMMENTATOR: “Ooh, that was not good at all. He must really be upset with himself.”

Exactly, it's their job to point out the athlete's technical deficiencies... otherwise the majority of the viewing public would be wondering why the fuck their score was so low. A few of those comments in the vid seemed over the top, but we don't know what context the conversation held. It's easy to make sound bytes come off as something other than intended. GD rude Americans, Fuck 'em!

Of what Olympics I did watch, commentators very rarely ever went into detail of why anything was a mistake past the obvious of missing a landing or falling off a balance beam or the stupid horse not jumping high enough. I don't think if they showed the full conversation between the clips before and after the "Wrong!" and "No!" would we have received anything more insightful and then I just go back to the wonderful Theodore Roosevelt quote dealing with critics.

I didn't what much of the Australian coverage, but it when something critical was said, it was by the technical presenter who actually knew what they were talking about. The negative comments in the thevideo were much harser than I've ever heard an Australian say, but they were pretty terrible in the video.

This is the proper version of the 7/7 tributes that NBC cut out
Also, how good were the Paralympics!? Inspirational! USA came in 6th, UK 3rd but ive never really watched it before, some amazing feats of courage. A lot of the UK team are Soldiers injured in battle, rehabilitated

Hats off to you all, In fact my favorite quote came from Bradley Snyder, USA swimmer, He won Gold in the pool exactly a year after losing his sight in Afgan

“I am not buried in Arlington. I am here in London competing, so I get lots of motivation from that.”

What a legend

"It has made people realise that athletes are athletes and people are people. It doesn't matter if you're Usain Bolt or in a wheelchair, we're all people. And everyone just wants to talk about the sport now, so that's good,”

-Charles Walker (Great Britain, sitting volleyball) on how the Games
