Hi all,

I hope it's okay to ask this here. I'm brand new at this whole gig (have done 3 chats so far) and have a few questions:

1.) Keeping up with the chat: How do you manage it? I feel bad about giving inadequate attention to people, but sometimes there's so much going on it's hard to keep up. This is especially a problem when people want PMs.

2.) Anxiety about body imperfections: Despite being quite slim, I have cellulite and I hate it. I also have some very faded tattoos on my tummy and lower back (theyve been lasered, but are visible as sort of grey smudges on my skin) and some stretch marks that are visible under certain lighting. I feel like these things hold me back from feeling totally comfortable and confident on camera, and I feel nervous about doing things like showing my bum while standing up. I'm currently using my computer's web cam and was planning to invest in an HD cam once I saved up some money, but I'm actually scared that more lighting + HD is only going to accentuate my flaws.

How do you get around these problems - or at least the anxiety related to them? Is not using HD a better idea for hiding flaws?

3.) Satisfaction score: How do I help improve this, and are down-votes common? I have 1 downvote, it's the only vote I have, so it's put me down to 0% satisfaction. First of all, I felt a bit bummed out that someone down-voted me, but I also know this means tippers will get a prompt warning them off tipping, which I'm worried will prevent me from bringing it up again.

4.) If I start a private chat, will it close the main chat room? I couldn't find info to clarify this anywhere and I don't want to just have a chat open where I'm ignoring everyone :-\

A HUGE thank you in advance to anyone who takes the time to read this/reply!!!

Also, does the region blocking function on Chaturbate work? I tried blocking Australia to reduce the chances of anyone I know seeing me, but then some guy commented that he was from Sydney :(

1) You can charge for private messaging or limit what they're used for ("I only private message about private shows, so please stick to public chat"). Some people just want free attention.

2) What you perceive as flaws, most people won't mind and may not even notice. Everybody has them. People like watching cam models cause we're "real." Better lighting and a better webcam will bring you more traffic and excentuate everything that makes you attractive. A poorly lit feed makes your room look less appealing.

3) You can turn off your satisfaction score so viewers don't see it. It doesn't affect your placement. It's somewhere on the Settings page.

4) It won't kick out the other viewers. Your feed stops and shows a message about you being in private chat, but your chat room is still accessible. This is why private shows (pay per minute) are preferable to password shows (person pays the lump sum up front) because password shows do kick other viewers out.

5) Yes, but some people use a VPN, so they can get around region blockers.

Thank you for taking the time to reply :)

I might do that. I don't like feeling like I'm ignoring everyone in the main chat while I type PMs to people.

I'll try to be a bit easier on myself regarding the flaws :) It may just be a matter of getting used to being on camera. I actually feel like the last couple of sessions have been a bit of a confidence boost - so perhaps camming will help me get over it a bit :)

1.) Keeping up with the chat:

When it comes to keeping up with public chat: don't be afraid to go slowly, it is actually better for the show. It helps if you read the questions or the comments you are replying to aloud so members know what you are reacting to even if it takes you a little while to respond.

If it becomes overwhelming you can always limit the people who can chat on the settings so it is more easy to manage.

Don't reply to PMs unless the person PMing you is currently the biggest tipper in the room. Even then, don't turn it into a full blown conversation, just a smiley here, a "thank you!" there is enough. You want them to focus on public chat and on tipping not for them to lose focus.

If the room is dead and you are interested in doing a private show it is okay then to reply to PMs of people who are interested in doing a show like @EmiliaSong said just keep in mind some members are sneaky and will take advantage of it to get a dirty conversation out of you: "so what exactly do you do in a private show?" "are you into dildoing yourself really fast? tell me if that feels good to you"... cut the conversation short if he stalls and you sense he isn't really going to take you private.

Other than that your full attention should be in public chat.

2.) Anxiety about body imperfections:

One option is to "get over it" like emilia said. Another option is to look for crafty ways to hide or conceal the things you are insecure about. With enough practice you will develop a sense of how far back you can stand so that spot on your thigh is not in frame, or how much you can lean forward while still looking good, or where to place the lights to hide your cellulite. It takes practice but it is doable, there are some threads in the Model's Only section that cover some of those things and might be worth checking out.

From a member perspective I was in a room with a model that likely started camming the same day and another guy wrote in the chat " I tried a private with you 2 times and I will not try a third time, I am sorry but I have to give you a down vote ".
I liked the girl and took her private myself but it was a quite bad experience.
The girl was nice and she really tried, but for me the lighting was totally bad and when she changed position the lighting got even worse....

What I want to say is that at the beginning camming has a pretty steep learning curve and you will make mistakes and hopefully learn from them and improve.....
My tips would be at the beginning :

1) Before you go private discuss what is expected and if you are happy to do what is asked, otherwise members feel very unhappy and that can lead to downvotes.

2) I would go as far as to record your own shows at the beginning and have a close look regarding lighting and check other models rooms also.

You are competing with a lot of models and camming is a lot about having a good video or at at the least the best you provide....

In total don't worry about the one downvote, you cannot please everybody, but if you get more of them from different people you should really have a close look at what you are doing......

Actually you can even ask the guys at the end of a private if they are happy and if they have any suggestions , I would be more than happy to provide feedback...no harm in trying...

:)

better lighting can actually minimize cellulite significantly. Even lighting on your skin will reduce shadows which means cellulite will be less noticable. Take it from one who has much cellulite :p

YOu can even adjust the brightness to blow it out a little (don't go nuts) to hide a lil more. This is a technique i've seen one top model use to hide her facial acne when she's insecure about it.

A lot of it is practice with angles too. If i'm showing my ass/thighs off I know how to do it (push the ass out, or strech the legs) in ways that minimize that.

Honestly though, self acceptance has been the best way to handle it. I know what looks good and what doesn't but im now at a point where if they see im a real human being with flaws..oh the fuck well. It's kind of my brand not to be a barbie doll and not to try to be one. When i first started camming i was too shy to show my ass on cam. Camming boosted my confidence, as people continuously had positive reactions to me showing my body... i began to see it the way they saw it.

Thanks so much for your responses, guys :)

I did another session last night and adjusted lighting and angles a bit to try and improve things, and while some people seemed really happy with it, I still ended up with 1 up-vote and 1 down-vote in the satisfaction scores... so my current satisfaction score sucks (1 up; 2 down = 38%). This bothers me a bit because a.) Apparently it "warns" people before they tip you if you have a low satisfaction rating, and b.) I want people to be happy with the content!

I only wish that people would leave feedback if they're going to down-vote, so that I can use it to improve things. It also makes it hard if someone comes into the room just as I'm wrapping up and instantly tips a decent amount (e.g. I wrapped up at like 1am last night on a work night and didn't want to stay later). Or if they tip you a large amount while asking you to do something you're not comfortable with, or have specifically stated no to in your bio. Maybe it's worth spending some more time in privates to get some better feedback? :-\

Hi Evie,

first of all you should correct your Chaturbate link here, if appears that the last "_" is missing in your link. means the link is not working.
You are the first model I see using a surveymonkey link asking for feedback, full marks for trying... :)
You mentioned in you bio : " I also don't do feet stuff." , I think this kind of requests are quite common, if you feel very strongly about this maybe add it to your topic as something you don't do..... not all read your bio....

:)

Thank you for this feedback! I'm not sure exactly what I could do better at this point in time, other than just gaining more confidence/experience. A better lighting setup would be great, but Hopefully that's it.

Thanks for pointing that out! Fixed :) I was thinking I might just do away with the feedback thing for now and see how it goes - thinking perhaps it's a little dorky! I just couldn't help myself - I ordinarily work in a very data-driven field, so it's kind of my thing to turn everything into a data collecting geekathon :p
