Ok so bear with me. This post may seem really random (even for this section! lol). But I just wanted to make this post not only for myself, to see if anyone has gone through what I've been through the past month or so. But also I thought maybe It could be a good platform for others to share their experiences & give out helpful tip/pointers to people in similar positions. Especially if like me they're going through it for the first time in their lives.
Before I continue let me just point out that I'm not for one moment saying my situation was one of the toughest you'll see on here, because it wasn't. But it's just that for me it was esculated because of how healthy I've been up until this point.
Ok finally onto what actually happened with me, lol. I began feeling unwell a few days after Christmas. Nothing major, just a really bad sore throat. But then the days went by & it turned into more stuff like my arms hurting real bad. Then my whole body began to ache & I couldn't walk around properly. By which point I went for blood tests which showed a really high white blood cell count. I went in for more tests a few times within 3 or 4 days (including a very uncomfortable bone marrow biopsy!) & the docs weren't sure what it was. So they decided to keep me in. After just over three weeks at the cardiac ward they still aren't 100% what it is. They think it maybe a type of auto-immune disese & they also found a blood clot in my heart which I have to take blood-thinning meds for to get rid. It was just so fustrating! I had to stay in hosptial until this enzyme in my heart called 'troponin' dropped down. The normal level is 14 & mine was 900 when I first arrived at the ward!
And so I went to see my doctor the other day & she was like "you had us all worried" & "if you hadn't have gone in when you did I don't know what would've happened". Which took me back a bit. I knew it was serious but the way she put it sounded pretty scary!
So anyway since I've been back it's been a bit difficult to ajust back to life. I've had to take things easy (i.e. not go out as much) & have had to quit drinking for the time being. Which is pretty hard for me. Before all this on average I'd drink 4 cans of beer 5 days a week.
