OK, full details of how I sort models and a pretty detailed algorithm for how I go about finding a room. Note that I am a rather atypical MFC customer. (90% of my time is spent just chatting, with models who are either not naked or who might be naked but who aren't doing anything overtly sexual.) Therefore if you're trying to see how guys find models to do privates/groups/whatever you can probably skip my post entirely.
Sorting:
- I have friends listed first (because 95% of my MFC usage involves four models)
- Usually the rest are sorted by most popular room (# of people in room) not camscore. I don't find camscore that useful. But I often want to see how many people are in a room, for reasons outlined below. While the models who interest me are mostly in the 1500-4000 range (with my favorites usually around 2000-2500) I don't usually find camscore the best way to find them.
- I filter out europe and south america. If there were an option instead to hide studios, I'd use that instead. But there isn't, and this is the closest I can get. It may not work for everyone, but I find it works very well for me.
- I have it set to list 100 at a time (which usually is 3 pages, given my filtering) and set to "cam previews, small" (I find avatar pictures generally less useful.)
- I do not have it set to group together models who are in group/private/away status.
- I do have it set to show the number of people in each chatroom. (very useful!)
How I choose what room to visit
Honestly, all the settings listed above don't matter too much for me most of the time because I don't check out random models' rooms all that often. What follows is the step-by-step process I tend to follow. (Well in reality the details can vary quite a bit once I get past my friends list.)
Warning: The following includes a rather blunt listing of which models I preferentially visit. If you know me, and don't want to know what models I prefer to visit more often than I visit you, then skip the next paragraph. I know a few of you may prefer not to know. But I'm trying to be as honest as possible here for those models who are trying to get inside members' heads and I figure the vast majority of models here have no idea who I am and thus won't care.
If Always_Kara is on cam, then I am in her room. Guaranteed. (And I have MFC notify me via email when she's on cam, which my email server forwards to a text message, for the unusual case that she's logged on at a time I didn't expect.) If she's not on cam, but either FuckUnicorn or KayleePond is on cam, then I'll be in one of those two rooms. (More likely FuckUnicorn only because she's on cam a lot less often than KayleePond, so I don't get to see her as much or as reliably.) If none of those three is on, but Miss_Lollipop is, then I might be in her room if I can handle a room as busy/noisy as hers can be, or if I'm horny and wanting to masturbate because she can always get me off. Otherwise I'm probably not in any model's room. I keep about 7 or 8 other models in my friends list and might visit them occasionally.
There are times when i do want to go looking at random rooms. Either because I'm horny and Miss_Lollipop isn't around and I need to find someone else to watch (very rare.. I don't use MFC for it's intended purpose all that often) or because I want to take a look around to see if there are any models whom I find interesting to talk to. I don't look that often because I'm usually disappointed (I only find one every 3 or 4 months).
If I'm looking to get off, then I look at the most popular rooms, on the general idea that if a model is doing something really hot then she's going to get a lot of guys in the room. This works pretty well. (And works much better than camscore for this purpose, as a model with a high camscore isn't necessarily doing anything at the moment I'm looking.) Sometimes I add the model to my friens list, but usually I end up removing her after a few weeks.
When I go looking for interesting models, usually I look somewhere in the middle off page 1 where there are rooms with 30-80 members. I click the "menu" link on each one and read the topic. If it sounds interesting, or the model is cute (ok, so even when looking for conversation I can't necessarily pass up a pretty face) then I'll either look at her profile or pop up her room and take a listen.
If a cam model immediately talks to me without giving me a minute or two to settle in, I close the window. I'm sorry, but that's just annoying.
If she's silent, or not talking about anything I find remotely interesting, or just doesn't have a personality that works for me, then the window is closed.
If the members in the room are annoying, then the window is closed. (I'm looking for a room where there will be a real conversation involving both the model and at least two members. If nobody in the room appears to be literate, or the model allows morons to spew garbage, then it's not for me.)
I have visited all three lounges (normal, 1k, and 10k) a few times but never stayed more than a few minutes. They're filled with guys either (a) making fun of models, (b) spamming the room with ads for a model, (c) bragging about how they scammed a model, (d) making fun of tippers for being gullible enough to spend money (oddly enough this happens even in the 10k lounge! Really!), (e) making fun of members for other reasons, (f) sharing links to recorded shows, or (g) being complete asshats in some other (hopefully creative, but probably not) way.
I've never seen anything interesting or useful happening in any of them and most of the guys are complete douchbags. Even the 10k lounge. If there's a 100k lounge by the time my points hit that (in 3 years, at this rate) then I might be willing to take a look at it. Someone let me know if that happens. Otheriwse, if I'm going to talk to members outside of a model's room, then it's by PM to guys who are friends of mine that I met in my favorite models' rooms. Or on rare occasions in a member room when some of us are meeting to plan a surprise for a model or something like that.
