God, America truly terrifies me! A lot of SWers especially OnlyFans creators do really really well off Tiktok but it's not SWer friendly and loads of big name models get their accounts shut down regularly. There's one person I follow and she's on account number 20-something!

I'd love to have the balls to put myself out there on tiktok but the level of backlash a lot of SWers get from trolls (especially plus-sized ones like myself) is not something I want to have to deal with. Plus your content gets sent randomly to literally anyone and everyone and I'd just die of cringe if someone I know from my private life (aside from friends and family who know what I do for a living) saw a thirst trap of mine!

Somehow Twitter feels less awkward to me. Tiktok you have to be really careful not to be obviously sexual. If someone knows me and has stumbled across my nudes on Twitter, that's on them. But if someone knows me and comes across a video of me seductively eating a banana or something on Tiktok, I'd be so embarassed.

My biggest fear in life is going viral for something, Tiktok scares the bejeebus out of me. I'm not in a position where I have to think about what my family thinks because we've been estranged for a decade or more at this point, I just don't want to deal with the consquences of something like this.

I really don't know how to feel about banning it, I understand the app is responsible for a whole lot of stupidity that has cost lives/careers/jobs. I'm just not sure it's the government's place to step in in that situation. Perhaps change the laws to reflect the harm they are creating to punish accordingly, IDK.

Facism is quietly knocking on our door and every day it gets a little bit louder.

Montana has become the first state in history to ban TikTok. Other states may follow, if I recall correctly, it can be a revenue stream for people, though I have never been to the site myself.
"I rarely see a bill that is this technically stupid" is the quote I've seen thrown around on my end. It's also unconstitutional, so any other state wishing to do the same dumbass thing should pay attention--I'm not sure the constitution is a thing that matters anymore, but if it turns out that it is, they'd be wasting a lot of effort.

Honestly, I'm not sure the Constitution matters any more, I hope like hell to be proven wrong. At this point, it looks like the safest state in the Union (also the most racist) is Oregon. They recently "fired" three senators for their state for 10 unexcused no shows to [state] Senate sessions. I'd love to see that happen to the US Congress. At any rate, it's definitely something I'm keeping an eye on for now.

I found this comment a moment ago (don't want to provide a source for reasons)

The problem isn't that they're spying on you, of course they are. They all are. The problem is their close ties to the CCCP. It doesn't matter that their data centers are in the US. The CCCP has a history of doing things like kidnapping the leaders of powerful Chinese companies for long periods of time, and when they have that ability, they have a lot of leverage, no matter where the data is supposedly stored. Tiktok bans have been growing at US tech-aware corporations for the last couple years, though I believe this is the first state-enforced ban. Probably not the last though, not until either Tiktok figures out how to completely sever their US operations or a US-based competitor makes Tiktok irrelevant.
"

And I found this LOL

100%, because if this gets challenged and survives, we'll have a fuckton of other shit to worry about. Numerous states would like to completely ban porn, for starters.

The CCCP argument is also so disingenuous. The American companies who are also spying on us simply don't want a competitor.

We're in a really weird space right now. I am flabbergasted every single day by the erosion of freedoms for people and the reinforcement of religious ideologies, specifically Whte Christian Male ideologies. I've never in my life been more terrified to be a woman than I have been in the last two years.

If porn ended tomorrow, I could go work in a grocery store. I'd want to die every single day walking through said door, but I'd do it because I had to to survive. But that's a privilege I have, and it's not something available to everyone and I think sometimes the cruelty is the point, essentially saying 'fuck you I got mine, figure out your own shit', as they press harder on our necks with their boots.

Exactly, I'm not made for fame/infamy I'll go about my life peacefully and quietly thanks

Yep, this and the recent thing about them trying to revoke the right to no-fault divorces

First I've heard about that! It makes very little sense to me--I thought the right was concerned about fewer people getting married? Making it more difficult to leave a marriage would certainly not make me more likely to enter one.

I use Tik Tok for OF promotion, I have 8 accounts currently but it’s not as effective as Instagram since last August. And has more strict guidelines than IG.
I have my work phone set to target USA and I have banned everyone who I know irl and whose account I’ve able to find (via contact sync in my irl phone Tik Tok).
It’s okay if Tik Tok will be banned in USA, people perma hooked on this short eventful videos, there is no way back from it. They will just move to IG reels, and there I am will be waiting for them 😏

It really scares me how backwards things are going, both in the US and my own country. I try for my own mental health to stay a bit away from the news because it's 99% of the time disappointing. How this can even become a law is beyond me...

besides that, other than twitter (which I already struggle so much with!) I don't even want to try either IG or tik tok, it's so scary to me, i feel old, I just don't understand how to make it work, like... hey people, look at me, i'm so cool. lol idk

The idea definitely is to get women trapped into marriages that they can't escape. The law apparently would only apply to women too. Handmaids tale vibes.
