Just read the above on turning on the computer, and what a surprise. A French court in France finds Air France and French officials not guilty over the Air France Concorde accident and ensuing deaths. Instead it is an American company and an American mechanic who are held responsible for the 113 deaths.

Bloody cheese eating surrender monkeys.

ps. i feel a little better. might go post something similar over on the BBC as well

edit: grrr typos

Seeing how that article says nothing about the "why" of the issue it's pretty hard to assign blame. However if an American mechanic improperly repaired something, then yes, he could easily be found liable. Your post mostly reads like you've some racism issues with the French and think that somehow no one that's French would find someone that's French to be guilty. Like some secret pact. Despite that most likely the judge and jury are not beheld to the French company involved in any way. Then you get the the issue of how it will be handled. If the problem was caused by someone on US soil, you can bet your titties that someone is going to push for a US based trial for the Americans. Especially since a French court has no jurisdiction for a man that doesn't live there, possibly never been there, and did something on US soil for which he's being charged over there with.

actually, reading back it is a little strongly worded. and racist is a very strong word, i prefer xenophobic.

the same story on the bbc site gives a few more details, the named mechanic who was handed a suspended sentence had used a titanium component in a repair on a dc10. the court ruled that an aluminium piece should of been used.
