So, I made my first vid tonight and I started to film with music, but then I was worried I might be breaking some kind of copyright laws. Is this a silly thing to worry about? Are there places that I can download music that isn't protected? Kind of like how you can download stock images? Or should I just skip music all together?

In my experience, most guys seem to prefer no music at all.

There's sites like http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/ that have copyright free music you can use. Googling "royalty free music" can bring up tons of sites too. I think ultimately its up to you if you want to use music or not-I haven't heard of anyone getting into actual legal trouble for using music in a clip but at the same time I wouldn't want to be the first one ever getting into trouble for it lol.

It's best to stay away from copyrighted music all together in your videos, for sure. You'd have to look up "royalty free" music to use in your videos... which all mostly suck, especially the free ones. @Carmita Bonita has got it right in saying that most guys, I'd say 99% of them in my own personal experience, do not like music. They like you talking / interacting in the videos. Best of luck :D

Thanks so much for the responses everyone! I never personally understood the appeal of music in porn, I mean I wanna hear all of the natural sounds not some cheesy track. However, I do like the music for strip tease videos idea.

If you're really concerned about it, I think Pandora and some other music streaming sites have licenses you can buy to stream their music commercially. It's kind of spendy, and probably unnecessary. There are so many gals using licensed music that it's unlikely only one of us will be busted for it.

I'll go against the theme and say that I'm a huge fan of music in porn. It does depend very much on the style of the clip, but from sensual striptease to pounding jump-cut PMV (porn music video), there's something about the combination that I love. One of my very favorite videos is set against a beautiful classical piece that builds to an amazing crescendo at orgasm then drops into a great subtle reprise. And of course there's always sex, drugs? and rock n roll.

Piracy is not necessary, though. Many of my favorites use royalty-free tracks, old recordings way past copyright, or music produced for the purpose by the model or her fellow artists.
