Nordling I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, ???

I've decided this is going to be the theme song of my life from now on (videos not from the 70s but in a way it's better b/c I love to see old dudes like myself still kickin ass and showing the kids how it's really done).

It was a little joke with myself. But it's also about the time when there was a generational change in popular genres...and IMHO a general loss of quality--but that may be a generational thing too.

The White Stripes are one of the few modern acts I can get behind. I really dig the sound that comes from a stripped down outfit. I don't know why these guys never got more play, I think they are very talented (have a couple o good ALBUMS). Lost in a sea of grunge I guess

Nordling, my memory is hazy LOL but IMO there was a fair bit of carry over from the 70s through to the early 80s.

Maybe my favorite song ever from my favorite band ever. Got to see these guys play on the Softball field of a Naval Sub Base while in college (early 90s). It was truly epic. The stage ended at home plate and there weren't enough people to fill the infield! It was a trip to be feet from stage and have to tell a friend stash the joint til the MP on the other side of the orange plastic "hurricane" fence walked by. The sold beer behind 2nd base. It was mind blowing.

 Darn right! The music died on May 21st, 1978 at 2:38PM. lol

Seems to me, the music just keeps on dying. There is still good music being made (somewhere), but since the media continues to market more and more to the "average" person, it's getting harder and harder to find anything other than plain vanilla whatever-it-is-they-call-music-now. Around here, the radio allows two main choices: "classic rock" (which assumes us old folks want to hear only the same three most overplayed songs by each popular band from our youth) and "new music" (which assumes everyone else wants to hear the same one song by each current group with a singer whose voice hasn't changed yet). I mostly find music I like that's new (or new to me) through special interest sites on the internet and occasionally through the recommendation of someone I know. Radio is dead, or worse, maybe undead.

[end old man rant]

Definitely...and beyond. But less and less airplay for the kind of music I enjoyed in the 70s and before. Even into the 2000's...but we now have to dig for good, current music, music that doesn't need a video to enjoy. :)

Like Beth Hart, who IMHO outshines Janis Joplin.
