Have any other Ebony models found it really hard to "break in" and make decent money? If not what are some of your tips and tricks. I don't have a problem with retention I have a hard time with traffic.

Read as much as you can from this forum, you have model status so again read all the info you can especially on the site your working on. Oh and if you can make notes!

There was a post along these lines before and I believe in most of what was said, it's not your skin colour that defines who you are or how much you make. People who visit camsites aren't all set on one specific model type. So research and think about what you can do to make yourself different.

Last thing have a look on cam girls twitters or in MO section to see what the traffic is like for that day.

Sorry if this doesn't make sense I haven't had coffee yet

I think skin color plays a factor; there's a reason that ebony is a niche category.

I also think there can be a difference when you aren't displaying "conventional" features (i.e. natural hair).

That being said, I think you can hustle enough to close the gap.

You can never do too much research on the board, especially in the Models Only section.

Increase your Twitter/Tumblr presence. Follow and network with models that are in your niche.

Diversify your content. If you're strictly camming, think about selling video clips outside of the site you cam on (ManyVids, Clips4Sale, etc).

This should be standard for any new model, regardless of skin color: network, network, network. Promote the crap out of yourself on social media.

Don't pigeonhole yourself into just one site. Branch out. Try Streamate, Clips4sale, or Manyvids. Better yet, try all of them at least once.

Some girls have better luck out of the starting gate, but it's up to you as to how your long run goes. :thumbleft:

There are white, blonde, blue-eyed models who end up on page 3, but as an ebony model, you will find that members will see your colour first, and ebony models are niche on MFC. If you click on a model of colour, you will find that almost all the other "Models you May Like" (based on member spending) will be other models of the same race, whether they be Asian or Ebony.

For you to get beyond that niche, you'll need to do a lot of homework (mostly here, by learning from other models), come up with reasons for members to visit and spend tokens on you rather than on other models, and generally work your ass off, just like most other successful models. If you want to stay in that niche, you will specifically need to find ways to promote yourself to an audience looking for women of colour to perv on.

I can't give any tips for ebony models specifically, but here are some that would help a model in general.

There are some people who click on a girl based on what she looks like while scrolling down the page, and then there are the people who hit Next, Next, Next, over and over. If you think you're having trouble getting traffic based on your appearance, it's the Nexters you want to target. Put something visually interesting in your room, usually people want to see what's going on. One time I taped a ton of colourful balloons on the door in the background, each one had a prize in it when it was popped, whether it was something small like a panty flash, or videos. It drew in a good crowd for a good portion of the evening.

Shows with more than one girl tend to draw in a good crowd too, if you find another model to cam with, it might be a good way to get some extra viewers!
