This is one reason I am no longer a Republican (there are plenty of others).

I'm not feeling any love for the Dems, either, so I'm voting for Gary Johnson, the Libertarian.

2) People who propose and advocate ridiculous laws like this they know will never, ever be passed are blowing a smoke screen to hide their own perversions and score brownie points with the uptight religious right who also think they are fooling someone by objecting to... whatever.

It reminds me of a bit Bobcat used to do in his act, where the guy is beating up on a gay man and bobcat says "I hate you because yer a fag.. *punch* and yer gay *kick* and what you do makes me really sick *slap* and... and I kinda wanna kiss you and fuck you but I can't *punch* I hate myself *kick* (crying, angry) WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE SO HANDSOME AND SEXY??"

I used to think that about the fundamentalist right passing anti-abortion laws..."nah, it's too big of a wedge issue, they'd never give that up," but now they're doing exactly that. My rule: Never underestimate the stupidity of fascists, especially when mixed with theology.
