Would you be pissed if the judge told you it was your fault you got molested by a drunken cop? I would.

You used to be cool Arizona said:
Bad things can happen in bars, Hatch told the victim, adding that other people might be more intoxicated than she was.

“If you wouldn’t have been there that night, none of this would have happened to you,” Hatch said.

Hatch told the victim and the defendant that no one would be happy with the sentence she gave, but that finding an appropriate sentence was her duty.

“I hope you look at what you’ve been through and try to take something positive out of it,” Hatch said to the victim in court. “You learned a lesson about friendship and you learned a lesson about vulnerability.”

Hatch said that the victim was not to blame in the case, but that all women must be vigilant against becoming victims.

“When you blame others, you give up your power to change,” Hatch said that her mother used to say.

Yes I would. I think Judge Hatch is pissed that the cop didn't molest her instead

So wait, let me get this straight...

If I want to go to a bar and have a good time, I'm giving up my right to be safe? BULLSHIT

I will agree that there are instances where if that specific person hadn't interacted with that other specific person, things wouldn't have happened as they did. Did the cop even know the woman? If he did, then MAYBE there's a bit of merit. But how this sounds is that he walked up to the first woman he saw. In which case, it didn't matter WHO was there, someone would've had to deal with this.

And yes, shit like this is one of the reasons why I'm so paranoid.

Another NON-Apology apology. Her thinking wasn't morally bankrupt - she just SAID it it wrong. Her "thoughts were poorly communicated."

Judge Jacqueline Hatch has apologized for comments she made to a victim of sexual abuse while sentencing DPS officer Robb Gary Evans this week.

"I apologize to the victim for any additional anguish my comments may have caused," the Coconino County Superior Court judge said in a statement sent to the media on Friday afternoon. "It was never my intention to make a situation worse for any victim. I have learned an important lesson and will apply what I have learned to future cases, to ensure that the rights and views of all victims are heard and respected.”

She said that her comments in court were "poorly communicated."

No, her error wasn't in "poor communications," the error was communicating such shit opinions in the first place

And bench sitting idiots like Hatch are forming the country every day with absurdities like this :snooty:

Oh, I know this thinking all too well...

Well, in the judges defense, if the victim hadn't taken it upon herself to be victimized and then been so rude to want to press charges against this misunderstood officer, then none of them would be there in the first place and the judge wouldn't have to pass down such a cruel and harsh sentence which obviously was taxing to her mind, and she wouldn't have had to teach that arrogant victim a well-deserved lesson.

Man, I hope that sarcasm translates...
Is the judge really Ann Coulter in disguise?

Sarcasm doesn't translate well in long chains of logic. :P

Damn it!

Wait...what logic? I haven't read anything logical about this case.

Victim blaming makes my head hurt and my heart cry. It makes me want to stand on a public street and give out free hugs to sad people. :crybaby:

Wow, that is completely fucked up and the bullshit "apology" is beyond ridiculous because unless it too was poorly communicated than she thinks what she said is accurate she just didn't convey it in a way that didn't offend people.

I hate when anyone feels like they have the right to say that they hope you take something positive from it. What? What could I possibly take as a positive from being touched/harassed/groped/assaulted/anything from someone that didn't have my expressed permission?

Too much stupid for so early in the morning.

As if it weren't already hard enough for a woman to go to court against a COP for sexual assault.
