This is the part i knew would be the hardest. After a year in the making, my cam site is ready for recruiting models (eek).

I appreciate it appears opportunistic to ask this question inside a cam girl forum, but before i start any recruitment, i wanted to ask you, the models, on how you were recruited and if you could give me any pointers on the best way to approach such a task?

I have had a site built and have poured my heart and soul into it to try an offer a stable and reliable platform for models. I have modelled the site on Chaturbate and Streamate with the intention of paying more to the models whilst offering consistency and reliability.

Over time, we intend to introduce new features that models would like, to be a community working together.

So, before i possibly start the most crucial stage of this business, any advice?

Congrats, that's awesome!! I don't think I have any advice, except to always look out for your models before your members. And offer good customer service. Just like any business, people want to work for and buy from a business they trust and who take care of them.

I'm not sure how to go about recruiting models. Maybe this site is a good place to start, if it's allowed.

Good luck!

More information is probably best:

What Pay do you provide (what percentage)
Do You cover CB's
How Do you pay models (payoneer, ach)
How are you getting decent traffic?

Normally cam sites don't recruit, models find the site for them and join because what they offer. Are you a private site like streammate or a public site (like mfc/cb) is there a camscore or how does placement work? How often do you pay? and how is your customer support?

Hi Msbiancabaker, thanks for your reply. More info from my side would be useful!!

  • What Pay do you provide (what percentage) - We will be running a token system in USD. Each token is worth $0.06. We don't work by percentages as the more tokens a user purchases, the less we (as a company) make, therefore regardless of how many tokens a user purchases, the model always received $0.06.
  • Do You cover CB's - Charge backs are a nightmare, for all of us involved. If charge backs occur, both us and the model lose the credit. There is no sustainable business that will suck up the charge backs as such, if we did this, we wouldn't be in business for very long. We don't expect the model to suck it up on her own, we will share the loss with them. Chargebacks hurt models and platforms, however, our payment processor will not allow accounts to be processed with more than 1% chargebacks.
  • How Do you pay models (payoneer, act) - We will be using Wire transfer, BACS and Payoneer to start with.
  • How are you getting decent traffic? - Crunch time! Firstly, large paid campaign for traffic. Secondly, encouraging models to tweet to our account, spreading the word to followers, thirdly, large targeted advertising campaign. These are the three main routes we intend to take, perhaps you have another opinion?
I think it is important to say that we are not trying to create a million dollars overnight, this is not going to be a flash in the pan. Instead we are looking to build a reliable and pleasant community that works well together, we understand this will take time and is based on us proving ourselves.

Hi Alice, thanks for your reply. I think you are absolutely right, my philosophy has always been to "Treat others how you would like to be treated". My top priority is the models who are on the site.

A bit of a chicken - egg problem....

even if you offer a higher pay percentage than other sites, from a model point of view 50 % of something is more than 80 % of nothing..

And to attract paying customer you need models working there, but to attract models you need paying customers visiting the site.

So in total I would say be prepared for a hard stretch at the beginning and try to find something unique for your site.
Maybe a sorting option by weight of the model, have not seen this on any other site....

:)

No chargebacks covered= NO THANKS. You will not get a lot of models wanting to sign up for a site that doesn't cover CB's. Also you didn't explain how models will be seen on the site?

Streammate covers chargebacks so there's no reason for me as a model to leave for a site thats established, with traffic and pays me on time for a site with ?? traffic, doesn't cover cb's and I still don't know how often you pay models

Hi Msbiancabaker, this is why i started this thread. To see exactly what you models want. Building a website is easy, making crucial decisions on policy is harder. Here i was thinking something, when it turns out it is the opposite! ChargebackS will be covered.

In regards to payment, models will be paid every two weeks (days 1 to 15 and then 16 to end of month), unless you wish for a payment to be made, where you can request withdrawal at any time and we will process it. Otherwise, payments will be sent out twice a month.

Soooo if models earn six cents ... what does a token for a member cost? Liiiike what percentage of that base purchase is six cents?

What is the site name?

How do you share the charge back loss? What will you do to discourage members from being turds and doing this? You are aware I assume in the adult industry people will do anything to scam and get free porn riiight?

What does your targeted advertising campaign consist of? Because I remember a failed site bought like ten thousand stickers and hats to reassure they were advertising looooool Having a vague advertising campaign is not reassuring. TBH I would be happy to help you make it less vague, as I am sure many gals would ... but if we were going to write your advertising campaign for you theeennn we could open our own damn site.

What would draw members to your site?

How will you ensure models get paid if your site crashes and burns ... or will this be a loss we would "share" as well?
ooo if models earn six cents ... what does a token for a member cost? Liiiike what percentage of that base purchase is six cents - Sorry, forgot to cover this. Payment structure is as follows:

Will your site offer geoblocking?
That's a must.
The site offers Geoblocking. You can chose countries, regions or states to block. Obviously if the user is determined to view with a proxy, there is nothing we can do about that, however most people don't use proxies for viewing.

What makes your site different and special? What is your mission statement/vision? Give us your pitch! We can't offer a lot of opinions/critiques/get excited about it until we know more. How do you plan to grow?

However, I am a bit wary of chargebacks not being covered.

Chargebacks are covered, based on the above discussion :)

Different is not always better, i am not trying to be different.

I am trying to build a community that is a genuine level alternative to the mainstream sites, not over night, but in time. I am not offering gimmicks, bells or whistles, i am offering reliability, traffic and easy to navigate. I am trying to build a site that is well liked and popular, a site that is know for its customer service, response times, flexibility.

Why would i want to do that when it already exists though? Well, competition is a great thing. I am happy to take the chance, light a slow burning candle and be the best that we can be. More competition for cam sites means the quality improves for models and viewers, this is a huge positive for everyone involved. Competition makes us efficient and streamlined, everyone is a winner.

This does not answer the question of how i get models to my site initially, this is the slow burning part which will just take time and effort.

What do you think?

Hi Serenity, hope you are well?

The site name is Dicking-Around - it can be found at www.dicking-around.com

As mentioned above, from feedback, we are going to change our chargeback policy, we will cover it!

In regards to models getting paid if it crashes and burns, without sounding my own horn, i am financially stable and own another business (unrelated to this) which is highly profitable. So funds for this site are not hard to come by. If the site was to fail because not enough people were using it, the models who are owed would all still be paid, naturally :)

- My campaign is as above right now, i would love you to help me make it less vague, if you are willing?

What would draw members to your site? - Great question. Dicking Around has been a year in the making, it has the base features a model would expect. Mentioned above, was the idea of filtering by weight (which is now going to be included), the search system is intuitive and quicker than SM and CB (i hope you all would agree?). We are offering slightly higher rates of pay, which alone may not be enough to bring in members, but overtime will be a plus as trust is gained.

The website will not suffer from frequent outages, like CB. I am investing quite a lot of money in ensuring the capacity to stream and view will not be hindered in anyway. Again, this will be a plus once trust is gained.

I have paid particular attention to the styling of the website, i feel CB is outdated in style and has not invested in the latest technology. SM is much nice on the eye and may be one of the reasons it is more popular than CB.

In terms of viewers, we are offering all the standard set of features they would expect. Again, hoping that our pleasing aesthetics is a plus for them. We are offering better value for money for the users, the token packages are slightly cheaper than CB, so more bang for your buck.

Money generated from the site will be re-inveted in further features. CB scripting is very clever and an excellent way of assisting in money making for the models. As we speak we have a further two 'Games' as we call it our site in development. Initially though we are offering 'Sex Dice' which is not new i know, but is going to work great on our site and be complimented very shortly with 'Spin the Wheel' - again, this is not new, but is essential. Overtime we will open up the site for public contributions for games, a bit like CB, creating a nice competitive atmosphere.

In your opinion - what would you do to draw members, other than the above?

(Thanks for your input, this is so useful)

Hi Bobby, you are very right. Like i said, i am in it for the long run and understand we could be talking a year or more before we are somewhat accepted. Sorting by weight, very interesting. Will whip this idea off to my developer and have him include it.

Where does the affiliate cut come from? In your example above, if a member buys 1260 tokens through an affiliate and spends them on a model the model would get USD 75.60 and the affiliare USD 29.70 while the member only pays USD 99?

sorting models by weight is a horrible idea. So depending on your weight you get special treatment... thats absurd

@Picking Around, your camsite aside, can you please stop editing your previous posts to answer questions farther down in the thread? This thread is a nightmare to read.
Yeah, I spent more time trying to figured out who said what then I spent thinking about the camsite.

You can hire me as a marketing consultant. :haha::rofl: but really. You're answer was answering with more vagueness. Because if you don't have an organised campaign and you're seeking for someone else to do it for you ... Well....i will bring the marshmallows.

So a lot of sites offer "contests" and buffer competition between girls. And add features like shitty gossip blogs. You're building a new site, but you already mentioned that the site would have changes after launch. Are any changes like this?

Also. The lay out of your site is ugly AF. It reminds me of porn hub look. Which is not encouraging, because it gives that "free porn" vibe tbh. It is a clean design so maybe not ugly AF but. So tube site esque. It looks like dtreammate and free tube sites had a baby but is really resembling tube land. Gag.

Skinny is a category for dudes. Do y'all mean twinks? Seeing as skinny isn't a female category. Also. Why is white randomly a category lol? 98% of the gals performing are probably white presenting so having a white category seems ... Silly. You also have big tits and huge tits as categories. So isn't that the same thing twice?

Are you employing anyone actually in this industry?

To add to why sorting by weight is bad... What woman have you ever met who is honest or even knows her weight? And what man actually understands what that weight means. If you must sort by "weight" making a filter for body types would be more accurate. To illustrate I am sure princess mika who is very thin and tall is probably the same weight as I am. I am a foot shorter than her and have the body of a potato. Weight wouldn't be a helpful category for sorting even if a dude were looking for someone who were thin. Body type like "thin, curvy or average" will help someone find a type of body.

This was my idea.
This is just the same as sorting by location, age or whatever, just catering to a viewer preference.
It could be a sortung option for the customer, I am not saying this should be the default display option.

:)

I am not a native English speaker, but " Dicking Around " sounds a bit unusual for me........ I would go for " Good Times " or " HappyHours " or so.....

I think the name "dicking around" is an odd/unmemorable camming site name.
It hints to nothing about being a camsite and I wouldn't know it was a camsite based on that alone.
It immediately makes me think dick=a site exclusive to models with penises or a gay porn site.

The number 1 thing that would make me switch sites, even above payout rate is a site that would make damn sure it is impossible to cap my video feed automatically. It isn't so difficult to do.

What I always recommend start-ups of this kind is to consider paying models a per hour rate regardless of how much tokens they make at the beginning to make sure there are girls working on your site all the time. A girl who is already working at a site that has stable traffic and that she trusts doesnt have an incentive to give your site a shot because it could be a waste of her time. So consider recruiting using an offer like this for a limited period of time. It doesn't have to be much, even $10 or $8 an hour would be something so even if you have no traffic at all they won't be wasting their time.

No its not the same as sorting by location, sorting by a models weight is ridiculous. I agree with @Serenity_Tam in what she said:
"To add to why sorting by weight is bad... What woman have you ever met who is honest or even knows her weight? And what man actually understands what that weight means. Exactly why its a TERRIBLE idea.
It has been well said, we are instead using a filter by body type, instead of sorting by weight :)

Hi Justjoinedtopost, thanks for your post. The website is owned by a UK company, so the US laws don't apply to this site. However, it is possible to release a statement advising that we will adhere to this particular law. Do you think this would be beneficial to have this somewhere to reassure those visiting from the US? We have a whole different legal framework to adhere to here.

Privacy policy is in the nav footer of the page, it is also mentioned on the registration pages so they can be reviewed before registration is submitted.

Because if you don't have an organised campaign and you're seeking for someone else to do it for you ... Well....i will bring the marshmallows. In truth, when you do your research on best way to advertise this and market the site, this is a question asked over and over again. I have given the framework of what i will be doing, but if i release all the specifics of what i intend to do, it will answer the question for everyone in the future, which is not really what i want to to. I realise it appears a bit standoffish (if that is even a word?), like i am not going to let you challenge me on my ideas, this is far from the case as i just would not be here if i didn't want opinions and questions on what i plan to do.

So a lot of sites offer "contests" and buffer competition between girls. And add features like shitty gossip blogs. You're building a new site, but you already mentioned that the site would have changes after launch. Are any changes like this? You hit the nail on the head. We had to decide what to launch with and what to work on immediately after launch, building a site like this is expensive, I'm sure you realise, so some things have to come after launch and be released one at a time. Some may argue that the features the site has is not enough to have a successful launch, i guess decisions like this either make or break you. Model contests are right up there for me, its obvious, models want money, why else do we all get out of bed each morning? Competitions is the first aspect to be worked up after launching. We have other ideas in the pipeline, but there are little more than pen on paper at this time as the framework of the site dominates the day to day work to date.

Also. The lay out of your site is ugly AF. (*Sad Face*) It reminds me of porn hub look. Which is not encouraging, because it gives that "free porn" vibe tbh. It is a clean design so maybe not ugly AF but. So tube site esque. It looks like dtreammate and free tube sites had a baby but is really resembling tube land. Gag. Streamate was a large influencer for our site, so in some ways i guess we have achieved this. The site front end is designed for the viewer in mind. Websites like Pornhub and SM are so successful, part of that is the design. We cannot afford for viewers to be put off, we have to cater for a wide market but utilising competitors strengths, such as design. in regards to the 'free porn vibe', i understand what you are saying. However, we have to take the view that someone may come to the site looking for free porn and then be so head over heels for the model they decide to tip. I didn't think the design of the site would put off serious tippers, if anything we think that the design of the site is clean and fresh. The back end of the site, for example the model account area, is much less "Showy" and more practical any easy to navigate (screenshot attached)!

Skinny is a category for dudes. Yes, skinny dudes do exist Do y'all mean thinks? We don't but can't believe we missed twinks, it is being added as we speak. Seeing as skinny isn't a female category. Skinny is being added today Also. Why is white randomly a category lol? 98% of the gals performing are probably white presenting so having a white category seems ... Silly. White category is silly if we don't follow it up with a black category (you guessed it, being added today) You also have big tits and huge tits as categories. So isn't that the same thing twice? Yep, huge tits is going ;)

Are you employing anyone actually in this industry? No, no one from the industry. Naturally that ready very badly, but it is what it is. I'm not saying i wouldn't employ anyone from the industry, but not before launch.

To add to why sorting by weight is bad... What woman have you ever met who is honest or even knows her weight? And what man actually understands what that weight means. Body type like "thin, curvy or average" will help someone find a type of body.I think you may be right, although if we are voting by age etc, weight is fine to sort by. However, as you mention, it is not perhaps an accurate way to source the model you are looking for. We do already have body types in the model profiles, so i will ask my designer to scrap the weight idea and list the body types as categories.
Hi Serenity, thanks for your post!

I have answered in bold next to your questions above, as there is lots to discuss!

Look forward to hearing from you.
