Hey all you fancy people with Keurig coffee machines, I want to buy one, but there's like 5 different ones and I dunno what they do or which one I should get :S

This one is the cheapest ($99), and I will be the only one drinking coffee in the house. Also it is red! Yay pretty. Is this a good one? Right?

I don't know about that specific model HOWEVER I have the b60 and I am the only coffee drinker in my house and I LOVE it. It was worth every penny. To be honest I NEVER even drank coffee until I got it. After I got it there were so many choices and flavors I actually found a love for coffee. I love my b60 because the water resivoir (don't know how thats spelt) it's much easier having a larger one requires less work. I only have to refill it once a week instead of every other day.

I love it, it was well worth it!!!

The cheap little red one, you have to put water in for each cup of coffee you make, and I think it only makes one size. You may want the next model up that has more size options and a bigger water reservoir so you only have to fill it up every few days.

I think this is the next price point at $115 http://www.amazon.com/Keurig-K-Cup-Home ... pd_vtp_k_1

Honestly, I only have experience with my friend's but reading the reviews, I'm not sure I'd get that one. Seems like quite a few people are experiencing problems with that model. My friend has the larger black model and I've to see any problems. I use it at least once a month when we party and it serves upwards of six to eight people on those days without a hitch.

I like the Keurig, but I'm not sure the price of the little coffees is worth it for me when compared to my big container of Folgers.

Apparently you can get your own reusable filters and use a big container of Folgers in a Keurig machine :D

Thank you for the info ladies!

I was given a "K-machine" some years ago. After the initial 'oh cool', I used up the supply and then finally ebayed it. The reasoning was that primarily, the brew size is far too small. The max I believe is only 10 oz. that's not even a large coffee cup, let alone a 'friendly mug to chat over'. I also don't buy into the high dollar coffee frenzy many seem to be addicted to these days [thx Starbucks] and even with my 'whup-dee-doo' gourmet coffee variety's and bottled flavorings I use sometimes, I still come in less than 8cents a cup. :dontknow:

if you have your own favorite blend of coffee, they have the My K-Cup re-usable filter http://www.keurig.com/accessories/my-k-cup I've seen them, I have used a few of them, can't really tell you what model is best tho.
I'd recommend a different one, actually. That one you have to replace the entire section of the machine that you place the kcup in. Something like this one is better http://www.solofill.com/.

I have this model http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Ke ... oduct.html and I love it.

A couple of things don't buy the reusable filter from Keurig it is a waste of money. The issue with it is the water drains far to fast out of the filter so you end up getting very weak coffee, plus it is somewhat messy to clean out (I have not tried the solofill one but it looks like it might be better). Get one that has a large reservoir the model I have when filled to the top will give me 5 normal mug sizes of coffee (using the largest cup size option). When I say normal mug size I mean like the novelty mugs you see all over the place.

Hope this helps.

That's the model I have! w00t

And yes, using the refillable kcup makes much weaker coffee. The great thing about actual Kcups is the flavor of the coffee is perfect every time due to being premeasured. The way the water runs through the refillable ones makes it much less appetizing. You have to pack a TON of coffee into the little thing to just make an almost strong enough cup of jo.

I still have to get one of those attachments though... whenever I'm on a grocery budget the K-cups are the first to be sacrificed

w00t!!

I have also found that certain kcups are more prone to make bad coffee. It's usually the ones where the foil top is stretched really tight. When you close the lid of the Keurig on them it often does not make a small hole but it actually rips the foil and lets some water out when it's brewing.

Sorry for the thread-necro, but I thought this was pertinent:

Conflict brews as Keurig tries ‘lock-out’ technology
Starting this fall, that won’t be possible if you buy a countertop coffee maker made by Keurig, the Massachusetts-based division of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters. In presentations to investors, the company’s CEO, Brian P. Kelley, has been touting a feature of the forthcoming “Keurig 2.0” brewing systems that will shut out anything other than Keurig-produced K-Cup coffee pods.

A week old water? I don't drink much coffee, but water that sits in the refrigerator for a while becomes "flat" in a way. Will not that change the taste of the coffee somewhat?

Most single brew machines have a reservoir for water that you don't have to fill frequently. The water sits in it just like it would in a pitcher, and many machines even have their own filter that the water runs through when the machine pulls it in for use.

A Kuerig manual I looked at didn't really mention anything about stagnant water sitting in the reservoir, but if the machine isn't used for more than a week, then the user should follow the procedure to purge the internal tank. I doubt it's a big deal, but if someone is taking a week or more to use up a full tank of water, they may want to consider only filling it up halfway, or whatever.

Just a side note here. Most survivalist types will tell you to change your stored water out every 6 months or so if you're filling up containers or barrels on your own. Granted I put bleach in with the water to keep it safe for that that long. But overall a week shouldn't be bad.

I just got Keruig Vue...

It allows for cup sizes up to 16oz and for different brew strengths plus has a temperature control. The vue cups are different than the k-cups and most store don't carry a large variety, but you can find them online no problem. I like it because they also have 2 step vue cups that allow you to make lattes.

Just as an FYI I noticed that Maxwell House (MH) has some new *made for use in Keurig machines* K-cups (up here in Canada anyway) with some variety of flavours. I bought a package and was quite impressed with the design. On the left is the MH and the right a regular k-cup if you notice the MH is shorter and has an indented bottom this is so it will not get punctured from the bottom as the sides are the paper filter. One of the nice things is that the K-cup actually has a recycling logo on the bottom. Which means the entire K-cup can be recycled without tearing it apart first; this is why the majority of K-cups don't have the recycling logo on them and most of them end up in landfill when you send them to the recycler.

Oh yes and the decaf coffee version is pretty good too.
