Received a call today that my Mother was taken to the ER for an irregular heart beat and unable to catch her breath, so far all I have been able to find out is that her blood sugar was incredibly high and they don't know why as of this post.

She has been admitted to the ICU for further tests, more because they don't have a clue to what's causing the problems and trying to regulate her than for anything extremely serious. If I seem a little distracted in some of the rooms, that is more than likely the reason for the next few days, I may be taking a trip to see her by the end of the week.

Hope everything gets better. I'm going through something similar. Hang in there.

I hope everything turns out ok. I know what you mean, a friend of mine had surgery a week or two ago, and he's still sore from it (he didn't tell me or my brother why he had it though, which is fine, we don't have to know everything, just as long as he's fine and all) .

JUST got off the phone with my mom, she's up and about, cardiologist has given her the green light to go home, now it's up to the other docs and all of the tests that she has been going through. I spent the better part of last night on the phone with my brothers and sister to get things set up for when she gets to come home, setting up a cleaning service to come out to the house twice a week to keep it vacuumed and dusted and try to stay on top of the dishes, my oldest brother is going to make sure she has someone to drive her to where ever she needs to get to, my sister is setting up with a few families to get some meals brought over to the house for mom and dad so they don't have to worry about cooking for awhile.

THANK YOU to EVERYONE, this site is an amazing place with a lot of amazing people here. If anyone can come up with some ideas about something I may have forgotten to cover PLEASE let me know.

Love, hugs and HUGE Thanks to everyone.

Have you thought about a laundry service? I know I always appreciate clean clothes and linens when I'm sick and it's one of the things my mom is doing for my grandma right now.

My Sister-In-Law is going to be going over to help with the laundry, and the service that I hired this morning will be taking care of most of the other cleaning, so every Monday and Thursday they will come out and run the vacuum and dust and take care of any dishes that may have built up. Thursday they will have a crew there for the initial cleaning, will be doing the windows and make sure all of the appliances are cleaned.

My Brother is taking care of getting the heating and cooling people out to take care of the furnace before it gets too cold too.

Glad to hear things are looking on the up. My only suggestion is to look into volunteer's for seniors in case anyone needs a bit of respite. You can usually find services for this. They usually make meals, clean, laundry, etc. I used this once and awhile while I was caring for my mother.

I will have my Sister look into it when I talk to her next, should be sometime tonight. Thanks for the suggestion.

Awesome news Dane!

Hey Dane, don't really know you, or anyone much yet here, but what I have seen is a strong, caring, community of good people. (With little exception, and those seem to realize this isn't exactly the place for them rather quickly.) I hope at some point to be included in the former rather than the latter. I am glad to hear your mother's condition has improved, and wanted to note, that it sounds like you are very lucky to have the support of a close family unit. All the best to you and your family.

That's so lovely that everyone is pitching in like that! Good thought on the cleaning services. I help out a client from my old job from time to time and I love that she gets everything cleaned up for her and people are there to drive her about. Just keep her entertained! TV, internet, books, puzzles! Glad to hear she is up and about!

Was telling Cat_Harvey yesterday that she told me that she's "READY TO GO THE FUCK HOME" her words, gotta love my mom. She should be able to go home today depending on the test results from these last few tests that they are running. Keeping fingers crossed.
