Livejasmin - One of the first I came across, rave reviews, then some other sites and this one especially rip it apart. The "55%" cut seems to be BS? I was told if you're on came more, it could go up to 55% (35% from free chat), but have not yet heard how much time that involves. Also a lot of you think they just suck?

Stay the fuck away from Livejasmin.
1) You make a VERY small percentage of a VERY small amount (35% of .99c, 1.99, 2.99 or 3.99 if I recall)- Im going to guess that as a guy you'd probably have a harder time
2) You get in trouble very easily. Ask for a tip ("surprises")? Fined. Leave your cam to use the toilet? Fined. Refuse to do a something a user asks in private? Fined, if they just say a few words to admin.
3) The site is full of freaks. Now, everyone has a fetish, and that's fine. But on that site you will be pressured to break your limits. if you want to make any money.
4) The members on that site, or at leasy 80% of all the ones I encountered are rude, demanding and creepy/stalkerish. Its the kind of environment where a model has little agency so it attracts that type of person, I guess.
5) their pay cycles are ridiculous. Pay period ends every two weeks, and then I got my money TWO WEEK after that. So I worked there for 4 weeks before I saw a cent, and it was from the first 2 only.

As far as time goes, I worked there 1 month and only made $650. If you look at my profile on MFC you'll see that I'm not ugly or in a niche/fetish category even.

I am most likely making it harder than it needs to be, but username?! Generic or Themed? Have the same for non-nude and Nude? Think it would be nice having the same one on whichever sites I join. Just always have trouble thinking up usernames.. and I imagine, one I don't normally use would be best. Don't want to make it easy for people I know to find me.

Although if someone I know does find me and mentions it, I can just counter, "And what are you doing on a nude model website? What are you a pervert?" That's only if they come at me like it is something wrong. :lol:

Sooo... got a question for you lovely ladies.

Decided I'll try SM first, and in profile info they want penis size. Pocket Size, Average, Big, Whoa are the options. At 7 to 7 1/2, I am definitely larger than average. But maybe that's average on a cam site? Or should I select big? I don't want to have viewers get upset and rate me poorly if they think I'm not big. My apologies, this has been the only forum I've been able to get replies on. :lol:

On that note, SM says you can only change your rate once every 24 hours. The other items in your profile, can that be changed right away or does it need to be approved first? Like if I choose one size and decide to switch it, would it need to be approved first? Same with the descriptions, need approve I assume?

I was thinking my "theme" or "persona" at least starting out, I'll play up being new and fresh to camming, wanting to explore and do new things, etc. Might work, if not, can always change it after learning more about being a cam model.

Make sure you choose a name you want to keep when joining SM. They tell you to change your name to contact them, but, when you do contact them to change it they will tell you that you have to start a new account! Choose wisely!

Wow.. how nice of them to make it sound like you can change it. That is one of my current hang ups, the name. I guess one that doesn't "type" me would be best, so my "persona" can grow as I learn and gain experience.

I go to video chat, and it is basically just a tiny preview window. Some tabs along the top. No place for typing, nothing looking like a chat room. There was a status page in the top tabs, that would allow me to see the number of people in my room. Which needs to be refreshed. So I switched to chat, and uh.. still no text box.

Ummm.. so.. uhh.. am I missing something? This is the "other" section on ImLive.

I could switch myself to nude, I see. But need a cam upgrade for sure. I can create a new profile from my host page too, but can't make a nude one. Huh? And I assume going to Live Sex Chat, I'd have more options in the room and maybe something showing whose in it.

Anyone have experience with ImLive, am I making any sense?

Thanks, I'm definitely going through the newbie stage. On ImLive I'm under "Mysticism & Spirituality" and supposedly you get 50% and I can put my fee up to 9.8 a minute (Pay is way better than the nude). I was at 1.98. Only had chat go for an hour, no guests. But no idea how the traffic was like, I did have a good amount of competition. Created a new profile under "Friends & Romance" which is like 30% at 0.98, but supposedly you can increase it when you hit 90 minutes. Hoping it's minutes for account, not profile. Although it got denied at the moment for the picture I upload, which was the same one I used for the other profile. :?

And the option to switch the other to nude is gone now and doesn't give me the option to create a nude one.

I did just finish putting in everything for Streamate. They wanted a scanned copy of me holding my ID.. used my webcam for that? Hope that works. Although I was going in to some of the male rooms, seemed really slow compared to the women. Hopefully being US, Audio, HD, helps bring some traffic.

Thanks for reading this and hopefully responding! I've been researching becoming a camboy, but so much information my head is spinning. The biggest thing, which website to begin my career with?!

My ideal website: Would be one with straight, gay categories that you can switch between (or show up in both), I know I will have to "gay for pay" to make money. Also nude and non-nude categories, so if I felt like not getting nude one night, I could do that, but also I have a friend who really needs money help and I could see her doing non-nude. May never want to do nude, but heck, if she gets a few fans and gets comfortable enough to switch to nude every so often, I imagine they'd be willing to pay a lot more than usual. Also, a website that pays decent. I had been thinking 2 - 3 per minute, but reality check is saying 1 per minute is good pay (correct?).

ImLive - Sounds like, you get 100% from a guest you convert (whose paying in your room). 30% from members. 35% for vets and top members. 50% from category besides Live Sex Chat or Friends & Romance. Looks like, under 90 minutes, you can only charge 0.98 so that's 30% of that. Yuck. Anyone able to explain that? Also, for guys there only seems to be two categories on the main page (straight alone, gay alone). Good amount of non-nude though.

InternetModeling - Another possible one? Lots of websites in their network, they claim a ton of traffic. Only 0.80 paid, but that can include more than one person. Only 1 for private, but guess that's good? And they do have a non-nude section, small though, just friend male, friend female.

Flirt4Free - sounds like the pay could be good. No non-nude. But looks good besides that?

Streammate - Site actually looks exactly like one of InternetModelings. And seems like a lot here like them? Though I've been reading they will post your videos on other websites and you can't control that.

Privacy is important! And also, why can't these websites just tell you the percentage you get?!? Geez.

So any recommendations, on which website you feel is best and which may best fit what I was hoping to find?

Also, anyone think there'd be interest in someone doing some advanced hula hoop moves on cam? You should go with ImLive. I just reactivated my account on there the other day, and I'm so glad I did. I've been missing that site lately. Thanks, so you make money with them? It seemed like being forced to only do paid about 30 cents a minute for your first 90 minutes each day, would really hurt income. Do have an account with profiles in other sections now, but they aren't letting me create a Live Sex Chat one, so emailed support to see what is up with that.

You should upgrade your cam for sure. Making a good first impression is important and no inbuilt laptop cam is very good especially in different lighting situations.

I think anyone on this forum would say Logitech. Most girls prefer the 9000 because it's more flattering especially the coloring. But no longer available in stores (I have 2 that I use and 3 still in their box as back up because I'm scared they stopped making them). You can buy the c910 (a newer model) in stores though. A lot of models use that one too, it's very clear.

It looks like the 9000 could still be in stores, actually. c910 is too, but appear to sell cheaper online. Would it be safe to say the c910 is better, being the newer one? Might be awful of me, but I was thinking buying in store would be better, since I can then try to do a lot of camming and if it doesn't work out, return the cam, hahaha. I do agree on upgrading though. Going to need to work on lighting as well, and the room I was going to be doing it in, might be too many distractions in the back ground. Having room mates kind of limits my room options when doing nude, at least.

Hard to say which is better. 910 is newer, a bit clearer, designed for HD. A lot (I'd say most actually) of cam girls still use the 9000 though even though they hbought the 910. Amber doesn't liking it because of the colors (a little too pink or blue, not as even). It seems to be quite a bit more light sensitive. For me it looks grainy in pictures (9000 looks more smooth) and live it zooms in more than I would like it to. Sort have hard to explain. Lots of people don't mind it though so it really just depends on taste.

Have an app in at streamate, first one got rejected (couldn't see all of my ID or something), and just finally put it in again.

I also signed up at LiveJasmin, I know.. I know.. most don't like it. But it was a good first experience.

Went live to play around with settings, etc in the Hot Flirt category. Within 30 seconds, I had a member come in. He ended up staying for at least 30 minutes. Had other members pop in and out, had a lot of guests pop in and out. Some guests stayed and chatted. A few commented on my looks positively, one said I looked awesome. Another wanted to see my stomach.. so.. I let him? He liked it. Didn't try to take anyone private, my lighting wasn't the best in my opinion (no complaints though) and I was also in support chat, trying to get everything set up. On that note, while it does seem like they take a larger cut, their support has been great so far. They did just charge their payout system too.

And I also forgot about imLive, whoops.

But, that was a good confidence builder!

So, interesting second day of camming.

I was in Hot Flirt, and I think that kept people from taking me private. I (surprisingly) found myself getting in to it as well, and I wanted to get nude and perform! wtf?!? But couldn't. I ended up finishing up my intro period and then had to head out.

Later at night, I went in live support and had them switch me to Boy. I think LJ has a bad rep? So far still positive. Switch categories in minutes.

Anyway, I set my price at $3.49, thinking I could do that price point by enticing members to pop my cam cherry. No members said it was too much, but near the end of my session, one of the better doing models who had been watching my room was trying to give me pointers. Said 90% of models are at $1.99 and even she does bad when she puts herself up at $2.49. Don't quite like that, still would like to try to get at $1 a minute. She also was told me I shouldn't tell men that I'm not gay, but would perform on cam. Most seemed to appreciate my honesty.. maybe I'll just say curious instead.

How the session went.

Had one female member hang around a long time. She ended up admitting she didn't have a CC so couldn't take me private. I think she was really depressed, and just wanted someone to talk too. So.. update so far (I need a break, haha!). Spent about 90 minutes online, had my price set to $2.49. Had 44 minutes of private time. Eeeee! There was a problem, first member we went 10 minutes and I asked to hear his voice, he had to log out to set it, so I went to member chat instead of free.. so the next 23 minutes I only got 25% instead of 30%. Sucked, Live Support did acknowledge they could see that is what happened, but couldn't do anything about it. Next problem was I didn't get the $1 per minute rate I set for two way audio. It was set at 0, after some checking, changing my per minute rate had reset it to 0. Live Help was able to see this too. So he sent an email to have it fixed. Fingers crossed.. now I'll find out if LJ is like some say?

Anyway, so my total so far for 90 minutes of cam time is $31.10 and could have been about $40 without the mess ups. Learned at least. But if I can keep up that level of privates, really good!

For the guys out there, my second private was 11 minutes with a woman or someone claiming to be a woman.

But, I realize that is part of the life. It was actually the slowest member wise tonight. Either 9pm ET is a great time.. but last night this time was busier too.

So total earned today: $31.10, total time: 4 hours.
Improvement from yesterday, 4 hours and $4.74.

The lighting and cam quality seem really good, but, and not to sound like a meanie, I find the background really distracting! I would recommend you really have a good clear out and keep things minimal and neutral in the background. I think it reflects better on you, and keeps the focus on you too, rather than trying to figure out what is going on with the clutter! Good luck! x
